Iran unveils modern domestically-made customs equipment, systems

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran unveiled a series of domestically produced smart customs systems and equipment on Monday in a ceremony attended by the country’s Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Ehsan Khandouzi and the Vice President for Science and Technology Sourena Sattari, IRIB reported.

As reported, the unveiled equipment includes two container X-ray machines that have been indigenized by the experts at the Ministry of Defense in collaboration with knowledge-based companies and will be used in Shahid Rajaei Port in southern Hormozgan Province and Incheh-Boroun port in northern Golestan province.

With the mentioned X-Ray devices going operational, the total number of X-ray machines at the country’s borders reaches 15.

Several small drones were also among the unveiled equipment. These drones are used to control transit cargoes at border crossings.

Some other systems for speeding up the clearance of goods and smartening the customs procedure were also among the unveiled equipment.

Tehran Fire Department Use New Disinfectant Machine

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Fire Department of Tehran unveiled a new machine that is mounted atop fire trucks and generates fog to disinfect streets and public places in the battle with the coronavirus.

The Tehran Fire Department on Tuesday night unveiled the homegrown fog machine that increases the speed and efficiency of disinfection operations in the capital.

Mounted on a heavy fire truck, the fog generator was used to disinfect a long street in southern Tehran.

The new machine has been designed and manufactured by the Fire Department engineers.

Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in Iran, which spread rapidly among the residents of the capital, the Fire Department of Tehran made arrangements with the Municipality of Tehran to disinfect public and crowded places.

Firemen have been working tirelessly to sanitize subway stations, bus rapid transit (BRT) vehicles and stations, food and vegetable markets, holy shrines and religious sites, the central railroad station, Tehran’s grand bazaar, hospitals, the Tabiat Bridge, and the Vali-e-Asr street which is 18 kilometers long.

The number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Iran exceeded 8,000 on Tuesday after the detection of 881 new cases.

The death toll from the COVID-19 outbreak in the country has also risen to 291. Meanwhile, more than 2,700 coronavirus patients have recovered from respiratory disease and discharged from hospitals so far.

Iranian Medical Equipment Exported to 40 Countries: Official

Secretary of Iran’s Union of Medical Equipment Exporters Reza Kompani said the Islamic Republic is exporting medical equipment to 40 countries around the world, including Germany and Italy.

“Currently, Iran’s medical supplies are exported to 40 countries worldwide,” Kompani said on Saturday, adding that the equipment is exported in various ways.

The official added that some Western European countries, including Germany and Italy, are among the destinations for medical equipment produced in Iran.

In the last Iranian year, (March 2017 – March 2018), the country exported $24 million worth of medical supplies, weighing 680 tons, Kompani stated.

In recent years, Iran has managed to make great headways in using modern technologies to manufacture a wide range of medical equipment and medicines.

Earlier this month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in the early years after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the country used to produce 25 percent of the needed pharmaceuticals but now the figure has reached 95 percent.

Back in November, the Middle East’s biggest pharmaceutical factory specializing in the production of anticancer drugs was inaugurated in Iran.

As the US sanctions against Iran have made it difficult for the people of the country to have access to some medications such as anticancer drugs, the factory is providing a wide range of such medicines for patients.
