TEHRAN (Iran News) Iran’s Minister of Energy Abbas Aliabadi and Deputy Head of China’s National Energy Organization Hongsun held talks in Moscow on Thursday on the sidelines of a meeting of the energy ministers of the BRICS member states.

The two sides explored avenues for the development of bilateral relations in the energy sector, modern technologies and smarting the energy production chain.

Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali also attended the meeting, IRNA reported.

Earlier in this day, Iran’s minister of energy proposed that Russia’s power grid would be connected to that of Saudi Arabia and the UAE via Iran in order to help protect the environment and promote security at the regional level.

He also called for further developing cooperation among the four countries which are all members of the BRICS group.

He said that Iran has an important geoeconomic position as it shares sea and land borders with 15 countries and connects a key part of international transit corridors leading to the Caspian Sea, the Persian Gulf as well as the Caucasus and Central Asian regions, with high security and at low economic costs.

The meeting of energy ministers of the BRICS countries kicked off on Thursday on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week International Forum.

The energy ministers and officials of BRICS member countries, including Russia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, China, India, Brazil, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates are attending the meeting.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –The 13th International Exhibition of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency of Iran will be held at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds during January 22-25, the Public Relations Department of Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) reported.

As reported, the exhibit will be held with the aim of introducing and identifying the capacities and capabilities of producers and investors and informing about the plans, actions and rules of policymakers.

The inaugural ceremony of the event will be participated by Energy Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian and SATBA Head Mahmoud Kamani.

About 100 domestic companies and 13 representatives of foreign companies in the field of renewable energy and electricity efficiency will present their achievements and products in four exhibition halls with about 113 exhibition booths in a space of 9000 square meters.

In this period of the exhibition, representatives from France, Germany, Austria, China and Japan will present their capabilities and investment potentials.

The participating companies are groups of consultants, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and investors.

Specialized meetings and workshops will be held on the sidelines of this exhibition, and in addition to that, organizations and associations active in the field of renewable energy and electricity efficiency will also have a strong and active presence in this exhibition.

A pavilion has also been considered for holding the specialized meetings of electricity efficiency groups.

The development of renewable power plants in Iran has accelerated since the current government administration took office in August 2021.

The Energy Ministry in the 13th government has defined new investment packages and strategies to attract more capital to fund new renewable projects across the country.

According to energy experts, such investment models in the 13th government have been a good incentive for investing in this sector.

The mentioned measures led to the capacity of the country’s renewable power plants reaching 1,085 MW, which is a very good figure.

In last July, the head of SATBA said the capacity of renewable power plants is increasing regularly and daily in the country.

Putting the under-construction power plants into operation will further increase this capacity, Kamani said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –On October 25, Reuters reported “Saudi Arabia’s energy minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said on Tuesday [October 25] that some countries were using their emergency stocks to manipulate markets when their purpose should be to mitigate any shortages of supply … “It is my profound duty to make clear to the world that losing (releasing) emergency stocks may be painful in the months to come,” the Saudi minister told the Future Initiative Investment (FII) conference in Riyadh.

The Saudi minister was blackmailing the U.S. with a direct threat — If you add to supplies now from your strategic reserves and later you are short and need more oil, then good luck because we won’t do a damn thing. You can freeze! It’s your problem.

It’s high time for the United States to get tough with Saudi Arabia and stop pussyfooting around with the Al-Sauds.

The U.S. should immediately convey the following message in private to Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) and his brother, Abdulaziz:

“President Biden was shocked by the oil minister’s threats delivered in Riyadh on October 25th.

The United States is not the market manipulator, in fact OPEC and its leader, Saudi Arabia, are the market manipulators par excellence.”

The message should continue: “We have put you in this leadership position in OPEC, which has enabled you to manipulate oil supplies and markets. We have isolated Iran to support you and the rest of the Gulf Cooperation countries’ (GCC) national interests. Our major instrument has been economic sanctions on Iran. We have banned investment in Iran’s energy sector and sanctioned the sale of Iran’s oil and gas. If we had not done this, Iran could possibly be exporting an additional 4 million barrels a day right now. And even if we lifted sanctions today Iran could immediately export an additional 1–1.5 MBD. We would have the oil we want with lower prices and Europe would by now be getting all the natural gas it desperately needs. We have been cautious and not done these to safeguard your security and protect your position in the region. We have also sold you our top-of-the-line weaponry, maintained them, trained your personnel and supplied you with intelligence. We took on all these policies to support your national interests and this is how you repay us, cutting oil production and supporting Russia’s war of aggression?

Enough is enough. President Biden does not care if he is a one-term president but he will defend U.S. interests. So back down immediately or these are the options we are considering:

First, a total freeze on the sale of all weapons and spare parts to you. Withdrawal of Patriot batteries and their transfer to Ukraine. Withdrawal of all military advisors and contractors. No direct intelligence sharing and discouraging Israeli cooperation in all military matters with the GCC.

Second, we are at a pivotal point in our dealings with Iran. Here are our options and what we ultimately decide in part depends on your cooperation.

-We can lift all sanctions on Iran’s oil and gas exports. Or we can do this with the constraint that all proceeds go into a special United Nation’s account restricted for the purchase of food and medicines for the Iranian people, much as was done years ago in the case of Iraq. We could similarly remove sanctions on Venezuela.

-We can rejoin the Iran nuclear agreement (JCPOA) and remove the sanctions mentioned. In this case we could also enable much wider sanction relief, including investment in Iran’s energy sector.

We will determine which option best serves our national interests. Our decision will be in part determined by what you decide. So please tell us what you plan within the next two weeks.”

A warning to the White House. MBS has heard much advice on how best to deal with Biden and the United States. He believes it is money that talks in the U.S. through lobbying. So he has tried to build a lobbying firewall by expanding his secret cooperation with Israel, hiring dozens of retired American military men, including generals and admirals, enlisting well-placed Americans and corporations and even gifting nearly $1 billion to a number of U.S. universities for their support. If MBS does not back down, this firewall must be dealt with.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Oil Minister Javad Owji voiced Iran’s preparedness to cooperate with Japanese companies in the field on energy, and said: “Iran can play an important role in providing the energy needed by Japan.”

Javad Owji, in a meeting with Nishimura Yasutoshi, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan on Wednesday, stated that this is his first visit to Japan, adding: “Japanese companies are very well-known in Iran and the Iranian people specially regard the Japanese.”

He stated the purpose of his trip to Japan was to attend Shinzo Abe’s memorial ceremony, participate in the Asia Green Growth Partnership Ministerial Meeting (AGGPM) and meet with some large Japanese companies, and added: “Mr. Abe is a respected and influential figure in the field of Japanese politics and economy and his trip to Iran in 2018 was a turning point in the relations between the two countries.”

Stating that the leaders of the two countries recently met in New York he added: “We have examined the fields of cooperation in the meeting with Japanese companies and are trying to expand them.”

Owji added: “The Iranian people will never forget the memory of the Japanese Oil Refining Company (Idemitsu), which bought oil from Iran during the embargo on the sale of Iranian oil due to the nationalization of the oil industry.”

Stating that Iran can play an important role in providing the energy needed by Japan, Mr. Owji clarified: “The unprecedented drop and low level of trade and economic cooperation caused by the unilateral and cruel sanctions of the United States is not worthy of the two countries.”

The Iranian petroleum minister emphasized Iran’s readiness to develop cooperation in the oil and gas sector with Japan, and added: “Iran’s oil industry needs $160 billion of investment in the oil, gas, refinery and petrochemical sector in the next eight years.”

Stating that there is a possibility of cooperation between Iran and Japan in the field of optimization and training under the sanctions, Owji said: “There are very high capacities for Japanese companies to cooperate with Iran from upstream to downstream.”

Referring to the signing of $100 billion worth of contracts and memorandums of understanding with foreign and domestic companies under the 13th administration, he said: “The Ministry of Petroleum has not been delayed by the outcome of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) talks and has started initial negotiations with foreign parties, and these negotiations are progressing well.”

Emphasizing that Iran welcomes cooperation with Japanese companies that have the necessary experience and technical knowhow in the field of optimizing energy consumption and reducing carbon emissions, collecting flare gases, etc., he said: “Any company that invests in this sector can take away half of the volumes it produces.”

Nishimura Yasutoshi, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, in this meeting, referred to the good relations between the two countries and Iran’s high cultural history, and said: “Iran is an important country in the region and the world, and Japan is interested in strengthening relations with Iran.”

Recalling that he is the secretary of the Iran-Japan Friendship Group and has traveled to Iran since he was a student, he clarified: “The late Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, had special respect for Iran.”

The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan expressed regret for the withdrawal of the country from the Azadegan Field development project, and said: “The Japanese government has always supported the JCPOA and hopes that the negotiations will be concluded as soon as possible and that Japan will be able to cooperate with Iran, especially in the oil and gas sector.”

Emphasizing that the Japanese government encourages companies to operate in Iran, Yasutoshi added: “Even in the conditions of sanctions, there are good opportunities for cooperation, especially in the field of optimizing energy consumption, collecting associated gases, etc.”

Stating that many Japanese companies kept their offices in Tehran and are present in Iran, he said: “This shows the importance of interaction with Iran for Japanese companies.”
