President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday inaugurated several major water and electricity industry projects valued at over $7.5 billion through video conference in three provinces, IRNA reported.

Put into operation in the 10th week of the ministry’s A-B-Iran program in the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21), the said projects were inaugurated in Hormozgan, Ilam, and Kermanshah provinces.

As reported, Energy Minister Reza Ardakanin and officials from the mentioned provinces also attended the inauguration ceremony.

The beginning of the construction operations of a steam power plant with a capacity of 1400 megawatts (MW) in Minab, the second gas unit of Hengam combined cycle power plant in Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Province; a dam in Ilam, and over 6,750 hectares of irrigation and drainage networks in Ilam and Kermanshah provinces were among the mentioned projects.

As reported, over 150 trillion rials (about $3.5 billion) has been invested for the implementation of the abovementioned irrigation and drainage networks, while 4.05 trillion rials ($96.4 million) has been invested for the dam project; Sirik power plant is going to be constructed with €1.406 billion (about $1.7 billion) of investment while €355 million (about $432.8 million) plus seven trillion rials (about $166.6 million) has also been spent for the completion of the gas unit of Hengam power plant.

Under the framework of the A-B-Iran program, the Energy Ministry has inaugurated many projects to supply drinking water to the country’s rural areas.

The first phase of the A-B-Iran program (the acronyms A and B stand for water and electricity in Persian) was initiated in the Iranian calendar year 1398 (ended on March 19, 2020), during which 220 major projects with a total investment of 335.6 trillion rials (about $7.99 billion) were put into operation across the country.

In the second phase of the program that was carried out in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20) 250 water and energy projects worth 500 trillion rials (about $11.9 billion) were inaugurated in several provinces.

The third phase of the program was officially started on April 6 and like the previous phases, this year, too, the Energy Ministry is planning to inaugurate numerous water and electricity projects in various provinces every week.

Last week, Ardakanian inaugurated water projects worth over $185m in three provinces during the ninth week of the A-B-Iran program.

The inaugurated projects included water supply to several rural areas, some wastewater and water treatment plants, some surface water collection facilities, as well as a tunnel for water transfer.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Eight utility projects in three provinces with the value of 175 billion Toman inaugurated on Tuesday in the presence of the energy minister through a video conference.

The projects for supplying electricity to 62 villages in 16 provinces were inaugurated by Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian in a ceremony on Tuesday.

The projects were inaugurated in the framework of the ministry’s “A-B-Iran” program in Ardebil, Ilam, East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Kerman, North Khorasan, South Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi, Khuzestan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Mazandaran, Qazvin, Kermanshah, Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad, Lorestan and Yazd provinces.

The most important part of today’s projects was unveiling the first Iranian-made 82.5 MV roto turbine in Tehran with a value of 35 billion Toman, while the imported sample cost about 90 billion Toman.

The previous producer of the turbine rotor was the American company ‘General Electric’, and although Iranian engineers did not have access to the know-how, they could develop by reverse engineering.

Hard work in six months in various engineering sections put Iran among the five countries in the world that can make this turbine rotor.

Two water treatments in Chaharmahal Bakhtiari, two solar power plants, and two distribution line projects in Isfahan were put into operation.

According to the weekly schedule by the energy ministry (every week, A, B, Iran), 62 villages in 16 provinces benefited from electricity.

Speaking at this meeting, Iranian energy minister Ardakanian called the projects a capital for the country, especially in the sanction period.

Referring to the fact that our region is in a condition which whether has no rain or a lot of rain, Ardakanian added that it had been fully scheduled and we can manage this condition well.

The minister had announced last month that electricity will be supplied to the villages with less than 10 families in the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 20).

The minister said that power supply to these villages and also supplying electricity to the nomadic areas through mobile solar panels are among the major priorities of the ministry’s A-B-Iran program.

A-B-Iran program (the acronyms A and B stand for water and electricity in Persian) was initiated in the Iranian calendar year 1398 (ended on March 19, 2020), during which the minister made several trips to various provinces for inaugurating over 220 major projects with a total investment of 335.6 trillion rials (about $7.99 billion).

Villages are often mentioned as some keys to the development of countries, and the allocation of a proper amount of budget to rural development always brings fruitful economic results.

In Iran, where villages account for generating 20-23 percent of the value added in the country, development of rural areas has been always a top agenda of the governments’ activities.

The sustainable economic, social, and cultural development of the villages is one of the major priorities of the current government, and many projects implemented and underway in this regard have led to outstanding development in the rural regions.

Marking the Administration’s Week, Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani inaugurated the three new projects in energy field, at a videoconference on Monday morning.

Implemented with a total investment of €4.7 billion, the projects include the development and improvement of the gas dispatching site and a series of gas pipelines in the national network, the first phase of Bushehr petrochemical plant, as well as a 500-MW combined cycle power plant in the West Karun area and its adjoining power transfer equipment and station.

The 1,200-km pipelines from the sixth section of the national gas network have the capacity to transfer 110 million cubic meters of gas from the South Pars gas field to the western provinces every day.

Another 125-kilometer pipeline was added to the ninth section of the countrywide network that stretches from the western areas of Behbahan into the Bazargan border crossing and north of Maku in northwestern Iran to supply 60 million cubic meters of gas per day.

The new pipeline would ensure sustainable gas supplies in the country’s cold regions and would also allow for exports and energy exchanges with regional countries.

The first phase of Bushehr petrochemical plant includes a gas sweetening section and units producing ethane, methanol, oxygen, and 9.6 million cubic meters of input per day for the South Pars refineries.

The 500-MW West Karun combined cycle power plant is also the other major project that would generate power for the oil and gas fields west of Karun River, including the North and South Azadegan as well as North and South Yaran oilfields.

The project also includes electricity transition equipment and gas pressure reduction station at the power plant.
