Rouhani: Economic Stability, Main Policy of Government

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the main policy of the government is to create harmony in the economy and also stability in decisions and policies.

Speaking on Sunday at the meeting of the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Board, Rouhani said that economic prosperity will be achieved with people’s participation in the economy.

“Stability, calm and confidence in the future of the country’s economy can boost people’s participation in this field,” according to president.ir.

“The government did not allow the ill-wishers of Iran to achieve their goals in harming the country’s economy, although in this intense economic war, there may be delays in achieving the goals and the implementation of government programs.”

Emphasizing the need to increase public participation in the economy to boost production, the president said that strengthening the capital market is one of the ways to achieve this goal, Rouhani said adding, “The capital market has a significant capacity to direct society’s liquidity to production and increase investment and employment.”

“Capital market experts consider fluctuations in the stock market normal and natural, but at the same time, inconsistencies in comments and actions should be avoided,” he added.

Restoring economic stability is a priority: Jahangiri

Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri said on Monday that the government prioritizes planning to restore economic stability.

“Under the current situation, the government prioritizes planning to reduce pressure that comes from sanctions and restore economic stability to the country,” he said during a meeting of the Supreme Council of Employment.

He added, “After re-imposition of sanctions by the U.S., certain sectors of the country’s economy were put under pressure which caused fluctuations in inflation, foreign currency rate, economic and investment growth. In this situation, the government prioritizes planning to reduce pressure of sanctions and stabilizing fluctuations in a short period of time.”

He noted that the government and related bodies are duty bound to create job opportunities for the youths.

“The youths are the main capital of the country who should play role in the country’s economy and create wealth for the country,” the vice president remarked.

In violation of the UN Security Council Resolution 2231, President Donald Trump withdrew the U.S. unilaterally from the nuclear deal in May and ordered sanctions against Iran. The first round of sanctions went into force on August 6 and the second round, which targets Iran’s oil exports and banks, were snapped back on November 4.
