TEHRAN (Iran News) –For more than a decade, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been busy with settling its peaceful nuclear issue with world powers and it seems this story does not want to end and everyday a new pretext or bully is raised by the Western countries and especially in recent months through European countries, remaining in the nuclear deal which has been signed in 2015 and has been actually useless especially from the moment former U.S. President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the deal.

Since the day new government in Iran took office, the talks have been resumed for revival of this almost one-sided agreement for return of the U.S. to it under their current President Joe Biden Administration but it seems the talks are reaching a deadlock because of the Zionist regime’s influence and lack of independence of 3 European signatories of the JCPOA.

Every day the Western signatories raise some claim and demand which creates hurdle in way of revival of the deal and it is natural that Iran rejects them because Iran will not retreat from its rights and logical demands and therefore Western sides resort to threat for increasing pressure on Tehran to bring it to the negotiation table to sign what the West demands.

On Friday the Western side issued a statement and warned Iran and urged Iran to bow down to their excessive demands

Reacting to this statement, Iran slammed the latest “unconstructive and ill-considered” statement issued by the three European signatories to the 2015 nuclear deal, saying the E3 must accept the consequences if it continues to follow Israel’s lead.

“It is regrettable that by [issuing] such an ill-considered statement, the three European countries (France, Britain and Germany) have followed in the footsteps of the Zionist regime down a path that will lead to the failure of negotiations,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said.

“It is obvious that if such an approach continues, the E3 should also accept responsibility for its consequences,” he added.

Kanaani warned the European trio against being swayed by third parties who have been against the negotiations and are now making their utmost effort to derail the talks.

He emphasized that at a time that diplomatic efforts and interactions are underway between the negotiating parties and the coordinator of the talks to revive the nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), it is surprising that the E3 has issued such a statement regardless of a result-oriented approach sought in the negotiations.

The Iranian spokesperson once again reaffirmed the country’s goodwill and serious intention to reach a final agreement on the removal of sanctions and said the negotiating sides have managed to achieve success at several junctures because of the Islamic Republic’s initiatives and plans.

Pointing to the E3’s inaction in recent months and its politically-motivated move to propose a resolution against Iran, which was passed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors in June, the official advised the three countries “to play a more active role in providing a solution to end a few remaining points of disagreement instead of entering the phase of destroying the diplomatic process.”

Kanaani said Iran, as a responsible signatory of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), has had constructive cooperation with the IAEA and once again stressed the importance of avoiding politically-motivated moves and leveling baseless accusations against the Islamic Republic.

“It is unfortunate that European countries, on the one hand, fully support a regime that has hundreds of nuclear warheads and does not adhere to any of international non-proliferation mechanisms, and on the other hand, opposes the completely peaceful nuclear program of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has been under the most extensive [IAEA] inspections,” the spokesman added.

He advised the Europeans to make up for their failure to fulfill their obligations vis-à-vis the Iranian nation and to avoid the language of threat.

“The U.S.’ maximum failure in the maximum pressure campaign should be a lesson for all parties who unwittingly think that threats and sanctions can prevent the Iranian people from pursuing their maximum rights and securing their interests,” Kan’ani said.

He once again expressed Iran’s readiness to finalize an agreement on the JCPOA revival and said if there is the necessary will and resistance to foreign pressure, it is possible to reach an agreement quickly.

In a press release on Saturday, France, Britain and Germany raised serious doubts as to Iran’s intentions and commitment to a successful outcome on the JCPOA, claiming that Tehran’s position contradicts its legally binding obligations and jeopardizes prospects of restoring the nuclear deal.

The European trio said they have “negotiated with Iran, in good faith, since April 2021, to restore and fully implement” the JCPOA, along with other participants to the deal and the United States.

The interesting point is that the U.S. has withdrawn from the deal and EU has not observed its obligations regarding the JCPOA but they try to censure or blame Tehran for the current chaos rather than blaming the main culprit of this chaos, the U.S.

The West should know this that Tehran will not retreat from its redlines and its rights, and the West is better not to waste its time for threatening Tehran because the Islamic Republic is determined to defend its logical rights and President Raisi’s government unlike President Hassan Rouhani’s government is not to retreat even one inch from the nation’s right and now the ball is in the West’s court whether to accept Iran’s logical rights or wait to see Iran progress for producing more enriched uranium and advancing its nuclear program.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – While the United States seems to be keen to continue indirect talks with Iran, some European officials have moved to declare the end of negotiations.

Over the last few days, some European officials have moved in the opposite direction and announced the end of negotiations with Iran at a time when Iran and the United States both appear to be willing to move ahead with the talks until reaching a good and strong deal.

A senior European Union official has told Reuters that negotiations to revive the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, formally called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), have come to an end and that it is unclear if they would lead to a deal.

“We are very, very advanced in the negotiations. We have had a round of so-called proximity talks in Doha; they produced no results and the reason is very clear because we have negotiated everything that was on the table,” the official claimed.

“We can be more precise on some details that are still pending, we are waiting for some ideas from Tehran and what the Americans have to say…I don’t know (if it is) the end of the process, but the end of the negotiation, yes,” the official added.

Neither the EU nor the E3 has officially announced the end of negotiations. But it seems that the Europeans are signaling their desire for engaging in a new blame game. Last week, the new French foreign minister, Catherine Colonna, claimed that there were only a few weeks to revive the nuclear deal. “There is still a window of opportunity … for Iran to finally decide to accept an accord which it worked to build, but time is passing,” she said. “The window of opportunity will close in a few weeks. There will not be a better accord to the one which is on the table.”

Iran and the U.S. have recently held another round of talks in Doha after which the U.S. and its European allies accused Iran of not showing enough seriousness. On the other hand, Iran said it presented innovative initiatives to push the talks forward but the U.S. failed to step up to the plate and make the political decisions required to conclude the talks.

Instead of nudging the U.S. into changing course, the Europeans seem to have designated themselves as the attorney for the United States. European diplomatic sources in Paris told the Asharq Al Awsat newspaper that they presented their final proposal to Iran which they described as a “valuable gift.”

The sources told the newspaper that the Westerners accepted, in accordance with Tehran’s desire, to abandon the demand to link the nuclear negotiations with two other files, namely Iran’s missile ballistic capabilities and its influence in the region. The sources alleged that Iran has refused the Europeans’ proposals.

They went further to say that Iran’s position is harming U.S. President Joe Biden and undermining him politically. The Iranian position, the sources claimed, makes Biden “unable to make further concessions, something that does not serve Iran’s interests.”

This is while Iran has made it clear that it wants a strong and lasting deal that is not affected by the coming and going of U.S. presidents. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said on Friday that Iran will continue to pursue such a deal.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will robustly and logically continue its path of achieving sustainable economic development and trying to remove sanctions with dignity. We will never back down from the inalienable rights of the great Iranian nation,” he said on Twitter. “Our goal is to reach a good, strong, and lasting deal. Undoubtedly, the White House and Zionism’s puppeteering in the region will make us more determined.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) – As the Vienna talks enter a sensitive stage, the Western media outlets and the European troika, also known as E3, are trying to blame Iran for “slow progress,” but they seem to have forgotten that that ship has sailed.

As the Americans are accustomed to unilateral sanctions and pressure, and are not accustomed to speaking on an equal footing in international relations, it was expected that the negotiations would go on slowly.

However, what is happening in Vienna is the result of all parties’ efforts to reach a lasting understanding.

According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh, in the previous weeks Iran noticed that the other side launched a disinformation campaign with the aim of gaining concessions inside the negotiation room, but when they realized that this path was fruitless and wrong, they tried to converse inside the room and move on.

Reports show that somehow good progress has been made in various areas such as nuclear issues, sanctions removal, and verification mechanism, although in some areas there has been more progress.

“The remaining issues are important, and we have reached a point where it shows us whether the other side has the will to move the negotiations forward,” Khatibzadeh said on Monday.

Iran has stressed that a “good agreement” can be achieved in a short time, but the other side has not shown enough seriousness by wasting time in the seventh round.

The E3 must remember that speed is key.

“Speed is important to us in the talks. Of course, it should be noted that speed is a two-way street and we cannot move at the speed of light and expected to do so, but the other side move with a slow speed. The speed of the two sides should be commensurate, and this will make the negotiations go faster,” the Foreign Ministry spokesman reiterated.

All sides have to continue negotiations that would result in a stable and credible agreement and this entails commensurate speed. Now, it is only Iran that is speeding up.

It is important to remember that the Vienna talks are being held to ensure that the United States would responsibly return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and fulfill its commitments and lift the sanctions it has imposed on Iran.

“In these negotiations we do not discuss or accept anything beyond the JCPOA. As I said before, Iran and the United States have exchanged views through informal written texts on four issues: sanctions removal, nuclear commitments, verification, and decision-making,” Khatibzadeh stated.

He added that Iran does not negotiate pessimistically or optimistically.

“We negotiate based on reality, and we report to the people accordingly,” he asserted.

It is also important to note that Iran won’t accept any artificial deadline. At the same time, Iran is not also satisfied with the speed of the negotiations. The E3 wasted a lot of time in the seventh round of negotiations and then agreed to negotiate on Iran’s initiatives.

If this will and level of authority by the other side is seen in the coming days, we can say that a good, stable and reliable agreement can be reached in the shortest possible time.

Of course, there are some challenges, including the U.S. unilateral approach to lift sanctions.

The previous U.S. administration unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA and imposed illegal sanctions on Iran, and the current administration has the same one-sided view in defining the sanctions that should be removed, and comes up with lists in this regard and imagines that it is the only one that can decide.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – With the Vienna talks running up against technical roadblocks, the three European parties to the negotiations -France, Germany and Britain (E3)- have resorted to a series of bullying measures ranging from pressuring other parties to brandishing a referral of Iran’s nuclear binder to international institutions.

Ever since the resumption of the Vienna talks about two weeks ago, the E3 has been busy trying to blame Iran for the failure of talks instead of preparing the ground for progress in the talks. First, they cast doubt on Iran’s intention, accusing it of playing for time. And when Iran showed its seriousness by presenting two carefully drafted proposals in strict accordance with the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), they sought to portray the Iranian proposals as unrealistic and maximalist.

At some point, they, in tandem with the U.S., announced with one voice that Iran backtracked on all the difficult compromises achieved during the past six rounds, which ended on June 20 amid the presidential transition period in Iran.

On the other hand, Iran has said time and again it did not totally reject past achievements. Rather, it only built on them to bring a new negotiating spirit to the talks. Iran’s proposals were drafted in strict conformity with the terms of the JCPOA so as to prevent the Europeans from using whatever excuse to reject them.

But Iranian accuracy and seriousness seem to have failed to put the E3 on the right negotiating track as they joined forces with their American ally to blackmail Iran and other partners in Vienna, including the European Union.

Shortly after the dissemination of positive news on Friday about progress in the talks, it came to light that the E3 suave diplomats have ramped up pressures to get in talks what the Americans failed to get through bullying. Nour News, a website close to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, reported that the E3 made ample efforts to change the track of negotiations in a bid to pocket concessions not only from Iran but also Russia, China and, ironically the EU.

According to the news website, the EU, following in the footsteps of Washington, tries to create an atmosphere of pressure against Iran using various tactics.

“This behavior of the European troika has in particular disrupted the mission of EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and his deputy and envoy to the JCPOA Joint Commission, Enrique Mora,” Nour News added.

The E3 has made it clear that it was unhappy with the way negotiations are proceeding. European diplomats gave pessimistic remarks to world media about the trajectory of talks.

The E3, together with the U.S., seeks to ramp up pressures and threats against Iran concurrently with the negotiations, according to Al-Akhbar, a Beirut-based newspaper close to Hezbollah. The newspaper said on Saturday that the Europeans warned of censure against Iran in the next meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s board of governors, which is set to take place soon.

During the talks, Al-Akhbar said, the Europeans informed Iran that they, in tandem with Washington, would push for censure at the board of governors if Iran failed to put an end to its reduction of nuclear commitments and restriction of IAEA inspections. They also warned that they will make preparations for referring the Iranian nuclear file to the UN Security Council, according to Al-Akhbar.

If true, the Al-Akhbar report indicates a European rehash of worn-out threats. And the European use of the language of unvarnished threat will most likely further complicate the situation in Vienna as Iran has long said that it will by no means negotiate under threat.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Don’t expect installation of IAEA cameras damaged by Israel without costs: Iran tells E3, US, IAEA . Iran’s ambassador to the IAEA on Monday afternoon reacted to the remarks by the representatives of the U.S., the European trio (E3), as well as the IAEA regarding the Tesa Complex in Karaj, saying they cannot “remain silent” in the face the Israeli regime’s “terrorist operations” against the Iranian sites and don’t prevent it and then seek a continued IAEA surveillance of the sites that have suffered damage in the terrorist sabotage acts.

“When the Agency’s surveillance equipment run out of service by the Zionist regime don’t expect Iran to install them again without any cost for this regime and without any measure by the Agency and claimant countries,” Kazem Gharibabadi asserted.

Gharibabadi added that the new agreement between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency was “fully implemented during the specified time” and therefore Iran will monitor reaction to its “goodwill” and will take the “necessary moves” at each stage.

In a series of earlier tweets, Ambassador Gharibabadi said, “It is deeply unfortunate that after three terrorist sabotage operations at the facility over the past year, the IAEA has not yet condemned these heinous acts, contrary to numerous resolutions of the IAEA General Conference and the UN General Assembly, and even because of its equipment and assets and the safety and security of its inspectors.”

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi visited Tehran on September 12 during which Iran and the IAEA issued a joint statement for cooperation. After Grossi’s visit to Tehran, Iran’s nuclear chief Mohammad Eslami also visited Vienna to attend the annual IAEA General Conference.

“During the discussions in Tehran and Vienna, Iran indicated that since the Tessa Karaj Complex is still under security and judicial investigations, equipment related to this Complex are not included for servicing. That’s why the phrase ‘identified equipment’ has been used in the ‘joint statement’,” Gharibabadi tweeted.

He added, “The joint statement of the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and the director-general of the IAEA on September 12 was also obtained in good faith of Iran and with the aim of replacing the ‘specified equipment’ memory cards. The Agency also took action to implement this goal from September 20 to 22.”

Ambassador Gharibabadi also said the report by the IAEA director-general regarding surveillance cameras at the Tesa complex is “inaccurate and goes beyond the understandings” reached in the joint statement.

“Therefore, the director general’s report on Sep 26 isn’t accurate and goes beyond the agreed terms of the joint statement. Any decision taken by Iran on monitoring equipment is only based on political rather than legal considerations and the Agency cannot and should not consider it as one of its entitlements.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday urged the three European parties ,E3, to the 2015 nuclear agreement – Britain, France and Germany – to honor their commitments under the pact and act constructively in the meeting in Vienna on Tuesday. Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remarks in a telephone call with British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, which was made on the British side’s request.

The current parties to the 2015 nuclear deal – JCPOA – held a virtual conference on Friday on how to revitalize the accord now that Joe Biden, the vice president under President Barack Obama, has taken the power at the White House.

The participants at the Friday meeting agreed to hold a JCPOA Joint Commission meeting in Vienna on Tuesday.

Senior diplomats from Iran, France, Britain, Germany, Russia and China will attend the joint commission in what appears to be the first serious push to reinvigorate the deal. The U.S. will be present in the Vienna meeting. However, there will be no direct or indirect talks between Iranian and U.S. representatives

The Vienna meeting was scheduled during a virtual session of the JCPOA Joint Commission led by senior European Union diplomat Enrique Mora on behalf of Josep Borrell, the bloc’s chief diplomat.

Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, adopted a policy of “maximum pressure” against Tehran after he quit the deal in violation of international law.

Iran was patient for one year. But with no palpable shift in circumstances, Tehran began a gradual process of reducing its nuclear undertakings. The decision was taken as Iran’s right under paragraph 36 of the JCPOA.

(Paragraph 36 provided a mechanism to resolve disputes and allows one side, under certain circumstances, to stop complying with the deal if the other side is out of compliance.)

According to Press TV, during the phone call, Zarif underlined the need for the United States to fully lift the illegal and unfair sanctions against Iran in a “verifiable” manner, adding, “Only then we will return to our commitments.”

For his part, Raab said Britain will work for a fruitful new round of talks.

Also, Zarif and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian held a phone conversation late on Saturday. In the conversation Zarif called on France to live up to the JCPOA obligations and stop adhering to the U.S. sanctions.

“I urged France to show a constructive stance on the JCPOA in next week’s meeting in Vienna,” Zarif tweeted.

The U.S. administration is sending a team of diplomats to Vienna. Washington also reportedly appointed its special envoy for Iran Robert Malley to head its team there.

While Iranian and American diplomats are not expected to meet face to face on Tuesday, the Biden administration has not been unwilling to hold direct and indirect talks with the Iranian side.

Iran rejects the notion of holding talks with the U.S. before the White House returns to compliance with the JCPOA. On Sunday, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi emphasized that the two sides would have no direct or indirect talks in the Austrian capital.

“We will have no talks, whether direct or indirect, with the Americans in Vienna. We will negotiate with the Joint Commission and the P4+1 and pronounce our condition for the [U.S.] return to the JCPOA. Our demand is that the U.S. must first fulfill all its obligations and remove all the sanctions it has imposed, then we will verify and return” to the point where Iran had not taken the remedial measures yet, Araqchi said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said if the European Union wants Iran to resume its voluntary transparency-focused and confidence-building measures (CBMs) concerning its nuclear energy program, the bloc should resist the US “economic terrorism” targeting the Islamic Republic.

Zarif made the remarks in a tweet on Thursday that he addressed to the 27-nation bloc and the E3 – the European parties to the Iran nuclear deal that are France, Britain and Germany.

“If E3/EU want full implementation of CBMs & enhanced transparency that JCPOA provides, they should reject US Economic Terrorism,” the top diplomat tweeted, Press TV reported.

“Iran rejects nuclear weapons for religious & strategic reasons – far weightier than any ‘deal,’” he said.

The “transparency and confidence-building measures” is part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear deal that Iran signed with the E3, the US, China, and Russia in Vienna in 2015.

As part of the measures, the Islamic Republic undertook voluntary curbs on its nuclear activities.

Tehran was, however, forced to lift the limits that it had accepted under the JCPOA on its nuclear work after the US illegally and unilaterally left the nuclear agreement, returned the sanctions that the deal had lifted, and began threatening others, including the E3, into toeing its sanction line.

The Islamic Republic says the US campaign of economic pressure amounts to “economic terrorism.”

Zarif said the bloc and E3’s potential decision to resist the American terrorism would simulate how “they’ve rejected its vandalism in the #UNSC (United Nations Security Council).”

The majority of the Security Council members, including the European trio, stood up to US attempts over the recent months to prolong an anti-Iran arms embargo – that will expire under the JCPOA on October 18 – and a subsequent US push to return all of the UNSC sanctions against Tehran.

In another tweet on Wednesday night, Zarif had blasted the US for its “hypocritical” opposition to Iran’s nuclear energy and defensive missile programs while spending 100 billion dollars on developing new nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).

He said, “The US insists Iran must not enjoy peaceful nuclear energy, buy any defense equipment, and build defensive missiles,” while it “spends $100 billion on new nuclear ICBMs, builds secret ‘new’ nukes, and floods regional clients with over $380 billion worth of arms.”

The top Iranian diplomat censured the US approach as “breathtaking hypocrisy.”

US warmongering

Zarif also faulted US President Donald Trump’s apparent differentiation between favorable and unfavorable warfare, denouncing all instances of aggressive military intervention and Washington’s warring and warmongering in West Asia.

During a press conference at the White House, Trump bashed his election rival Joe Biden over sending US “youth to fight in these crazy, endless wars” in the Middle East in his capacity as former US president Barack Obama’s vice president. Trump also lashed out at the Pentagon’s top brass for seeking wars to enrich “those wonderful [weapon-making] companies.”

“We get it. He [Trump] thinks cold war is good for business while hot war is not,” Zarif derisively said in a tweet, adding, “War is bad, period.”

The top diplomat also pointed out the contradiction between Trump’s acknowledging “the US thirst for war to fill the coffers of those wonderful companies” and the US president’s “flogging their ‘beautiful military equipment’ to our region.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif once again referred the cases of E3 noncompliance with the 2015 nuclear deal to its Joint Commission for resolution based on Article 36 of the JCPOA, said a Foreign Ministry spokesman on Friday.

According to Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, the Iranian foreign minister referred the cases to the Joint Commission of the nuclear agreement, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in a letter to the High Representative of the European Union Josep Borrell, IRNA reported.

Based on Article 36, “If Iran believed that any or all of the E3/EU+3 were not meeting their commitments under this JCPOA, Iran could refer the issue to the Joint Commission for resolution”.

The last letter was sent following the irresponsible and illegal move made by the three European signatories of the nuclear deal (Germany, Britain, and France) in presenting a draft resolution at the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, as well as their continued non-abidance with the commitments under the deal.

Zarif warned in the letter that any interference in the ongoing cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would be contrary to the provisions of the JCPOA and could have negative impacts on the existing cooperation under the safeguards agreement, Mousavi added.

He stressed the need to maintain and fully implement the provisions of the JCPOA by all parties, especially the need for Iran to fully benefit from the economic effects of the sanctions lifting mechanism as envisaged in the nuclear deal and said that Tehran would take appropriate and proportionate action against any excessive and irresponsible behavior.

Mousavi strongly urged the E3 to pave the way for maintaining and complete implementation of the nuclear deal by continuing their compliance with the JCPOA, instead of moving in the direction of the US policy of maximum pressure.

Iran had previously referred another case of the E3 noncompliance with the JCPOA to its Joint Commission in two separate letters.

TEHRAN (Iran News) — The triggering of the dispute mechanism under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) does not mean referring Iran’s case to the UN Security Council, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday.

Araghchi said, “The dispute mechanism does not mean referring Iran’s case to the Security Council. What Europe has done is triggering the dispute mechanism according to article 3. We believe that Europe cannot trigger this mechanism because we have triggered it and finished it”.

France, Britain, and Germany confirmed on January 14 that they had triggered the dispute mechanism in the JCPOA, also known as the Iran nuclear deal, but said they were not joining the United States campaign to exert maximum pressure on Tehran.

Russia has announced that it sees no grounds to trigger the dispute mechanism, saying the activation of this mechanism may make it impossible to return to the implementation of the agreement.

China has also expressed regret over the decision, saying it will not help solve the issues or ease current tensions.

“Russia and China also agree with us and we believe that Europe cannot use this article,” Araghchi said. “Reducing our commitments was a compensatory measure and Europe cannot take a compensatory measure against our move.”

He said nothing has happened yet, but added that the Islamic Republic will make appropriate decisions in due time.

The JCPOA was struck between Iran and the five permanent UN Security Council members — the United States, Russia, China, France, and the UK — as well as Germany and the European Union.

The accord came under increasing strain ever since U.S. President Donald Trump announced the U.S. withdrawal from it in May 2018 and unleashed the “toughest ever” sanctions against Iran despite worldwide objections.

On May 8, exactly one year after the U.S. abandoned the deal, Tehran announced that its “strategic patience” is over and began to partially reduce its commitments to the agreement at bi-monthly steps.

Eventually, in its fifth and final step on January 5, Iran suspended all limits under the JCPOA.

The US newspaper Washington Post reported on Thursday that Trump had threatened the countries with a 25-percent automobile tariff if they did not take a step that could lead to re-imposing sanctions against Tehran.

Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer said during a visit to London on Thursday that the threat ” does exist.” But German defense minister stressed that the European nations will not join the Trump policy of putting maximum pressure on Iran.

Germany, Britain, and France announced on Tuesday that they triggered a dispute resolution mechanism after Iran said it would no longer abide by the 2015 agreement with global powers aimed at curbing its nuclear program.

It also marked a policy turnaround for the European signatories that maintained negotiations with Iran after the U.S. unilaterally withdrew from the deal in 2018.
