Hossein Kanaanizadegn found the back of the net from the penalty spot in the injury time.

Persepolis moved up to second place with 11 points out of five matches, while Esteghlal is ninth in the table with five points.

Out of 104 matches between the two teams, 50 have ended in draws so far, with Persepolis winning 28 and Esteghlal 26.

TEHRAN (Iran News) The match is slated for Wednesday in Arak’s Imam Khomeini Stadium.

Heydari, 44, will be assisted by Alireza Ildorom and Alireza Moradi in the match.

Persepolis sits fourth in the 2024-25 Iran Professional League (IPL) table with eight points out of four matches, while Esteghlal remains ninth with five points.

Out of 103 matches between the two teams, 50 have ended in draws so far, with Persepolis winning 27 and Esteghlal 26.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Female spectators of Esteghlal and Persepolis will be able to attend the 102nd Tehran derby at Azadi Stadium.

Tehran (ISNA) – The Esteghlal vs Persepolis match not only in in Asian football, It is well-known as one of the most important derbies in the world. The match is scheduled for next Thursday in Azadi Stadium as a crucial Persian Gulf League match.

For the first time in recent four decades, Women allow to watch the match. Before that Women allowed to attend in Iran league and National team matches.

However, it has not been announced yet how many women will be able to enter Azadi Stadium on match day.

Persepolis, Esteghlal to Play in Hazfi Cup Semis

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Title-holder Persepolis was drawn to meet Esteghlal in Tehran derby in Iran’s Hazfi Cup semis.

The draw for the Hazfi Cup semi-final was held on Tuesday.

Naft Masjed Soleyman will play Tractor in the other semifinal match.

The two matches will be held on August 25 and 26.

Esteghlal, as the most decorated team in Hazfi Cup, looks forward to winning the title for the eighth time.

TEHRAN – Branko Ivankovic says the football match between Iranian giants Persepolis and Esteghlal is the biggest derby in Asia.

Iran Professional League (IPL) leaders Persepolis will face Esteghlal on Thursday and a win against the arch-rivals will steer them to the title for the second successive year.

The Croat says it can be considered as the biggest derby in Asia and even most enthusiastic game in the world.

“We are very happy for the match against Esteghlal and are proud of playing in Tehran derby. Esteghlal have advanced to the Hazfi Cup final and they moved up to the third place and and it explains they are a better team compared to the start of the season,” Ivankovic said.

“Persepolis’s players will do their best against Esteghlal and we are well-prepared for the match. I think it’s the biggest derby in Asia and also is the world’s most enthusiastic match,” the former Iran coach added.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been invited to Tehran to attend the match at the Azadi Stadium.

“I’m very happy that FIFA President is going to watch the match in the stadium and it shows how important the match is. I hope that we will have a good performance in front of the President,” Ivankovic concluded.

Persepolis edge past Esteghlal in Tehran derby

TEHRAN – One goal was enough for Persepolis football team to edge past Esteghlal in Tehran derby here at the Azadi Stadium on Thursday.

Persepolis striker Ali Alipour was brought down in penalty area in 22nd minute by Rouzbeh Cheshmi and converted his penalty.

Esteghlal were dominant team in the second half but failed to create dangerous chance.

The match was abandoned by referee Bijan Heydari in the last minutes as a result of the missile throwing from the fans.

Persepolis moved to second place with 20 points, two points behind Pars Jonoubi Jam with one game in hands.

Esteghlal remained 13th with just nine points from 10 matches.

Persepolis Boosted ahead of Tehran Derby by Hazfi Cup Win

TEHRAN – Persepolis received a boost ahead of Tehran derby by defeating Naft Tehran football team in Iran’s Hazfi Cup Round of 32.

The Reds beat Naft 2-0 in Tehran’s Aazdi Stadium.

Godwin Menshah was on target in the 73rd minute and Ali Alipour made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute.

Naft Tehran’s Issa Alekasir failed to convert his penalty in the dying moments of the match.

Persepolis will face Baderan Tehran in Round of 16.

Persepolis will face off its arch rival Esteghlal in Iran Professional League on Thursday.
