TEHRAN (Iran News) –Anti-U.S. sentiments have been on the rise in West Asia in recent months over Washington’s unwavering support for Israel’s barbarism and genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

Since Israel launched its brutal onslaught on the besieged Palestinian territory on October 7, attacks on U.S. bases in West Asia by regional resistance groups have increased.

On Sunday, three U.S. troops were killed and dozens of other service members were wounded in a drone attack on a small American outpost in northeast Jordan near the Syrian border.

According to U.S. officials, the number of wounded is expected to rise as service members seek treatment for symptoms consistent with traumatic brain injury.

The outpost known as Tower 22 is cloaked in a veil of secrecy. Located at the northeastern most point of Jordan, where the country’s borders converge with Syria and Iraq, Tower 22 holds significant strategic importance for the U.S. in the region. It is not only a critical asset for monitoring regional developments but also serves as a launchpad for logistical and operational support.

On Sunday, CENTCOM said, “There are approximately 350 U.S. Army and Air Force personnel deployed to the base (Tower 22), conducting a number of key support functions”.
But it remains unclear why air defenses failed to intercept the drone.

Biden intensifies rhetoric

Following the attack, President Joe Biden jumped to a conclusion and blamed Iran for the attack without providing any evidence.

“We know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq,” Biden claimed.

The U.S. president also vowed to hold those responsible for the attack “to account”.

The U.S. calls regional resistance groups “Iran’s proxies” and accuses the Islamic Republic of supporting them financially and militarily.

This is while Iran has time and again stressed that resistance groups do not take orders from Tehran and act independently.

Sunday’s drone strike on Tower 22, marks the first time American troops have been killed by retaliatory attacks in West Asia since Israel’s deadly war on Gaza began nearly four months ago.

A resistance group called the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility for the drone attack, citing support for the Palestinians in the face of the Israeli massacre of Gazans.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has also claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks against bases housing American forces in Iraq and Syria since the Israeli regime started its military campaign in Gaza.

Other regional resistance groups have intensified strikes against U.S. bases. They call their strikes as retaliation for Washington’s support for Israel’s brutal war on Palestinian people in Gaza. These resistance groups also say they aim to push American troops out of the West Asia region.

There are about 2,500 American troops in Iraq and 900 in northeast Syria. Washington claims these forces support operations against remnants of the Daesh terror group. This is while Iraqi people and officials call for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. soldiers from their country. Syria has also adopted a similar stance saying the U.S. military presence in the country is aimed at looting its oil resources.

The retaliatory attack on Tower 22 is definitely the result of U.S. support for Israel and its attacks against the positions of regional resistance groups in Iraq and Syria.

Biden has threatened to retaliate following the attack. If the U.S. intensifies attacks on resistance groups in the region, it will have to pay a heavier price for its military adventurism as anti-U.S. sentiments will grow further and this will lead to more strikes against American bases and more casualties among soldiers.

The U.S. is currently reeling from the repercussions of its invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, which left many U.S. soldiers dead. In the case of Afghanistan, the U.S. was humiliated after it had to withdraw from the country after 20 years of occupation.

U.S. would have to face the music

Despite such fears, Biden has come under increasing pressure from Republicans for not taking strong action against resistance groups and Iran.

But they should take into consideration that more than 150 attacks have been carried out by resistance groups on American forces in the region since Israel launched war on Gaza.

Besides, U.S. administration officials have repeatedly said they do not want to see tensions boil over into a regional war.

Hence, if the U.S. government decides to widen its attacks, it would have to face the consequences.

Washington should have realized that resistance groups will deal more severe blows to the U.S. if it targets them.

Presently, the U.S. should exert pressure on Israel to bring an end to its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip if it wants to avoid a wider regional conflict.

This is because the intensification of attacks on U.S. interests in West Asia is rooted in its backing of the regime’s war on Gaza.

Washington should also halt the supply of weapons to the Tel Aviv regime.

The U.S. needs to face reality and understand that the era of hit-and-run has ended and its measures against resistance groups will be met with a harsher response. West Asia

could also become “Hell on Earth” for U.S. forces if Israel’s war on Gaza spills over into a regional conflict.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –For years many international bodies have tried to control war crimes through restricting deadly weapons and weapons of mass destruction which threatens the life of people but each time big powers and mainly the U.S. and its allies have violated what has been approved by those bodies to save the life of people through banning any deadly and mass destruction weapons.

The U.S. has been the main violator of any approved law and decision in protecting humanity and this country which claims of supporting human rights and values has passed all red lines. Washington who is now at odd with the Islamic Republic of Iran over the peaceful nuclear program has been the first and the only country used nuclear bomb during the World War II. Of course this country has tried all of its deadly weapons during the wars in any part of the world.

Cluster bomb is one of the weapons which has been banned by the international bodies but we see the U.S. forces use it wherever they want and nobody dares to question it, but if some independent and non-Western country uses it suddenly the world roars against it.

Cluster bombs have been banned by over 100 countries — of course as usual the U.S. has not signed the pact — due to the significant risk they pose to civilian populations. These munitions release smaller bomblets that have a high failure rate, leaving unexploded remnants that can remain dangerous for years and detonate unpredictably. But we see the U.S. gives no damn to what the world says and it wants to supply this bomb to Ukraine for using it against Russia.

President Joe Biden confirmed the decision to send cluster bombs to Ukraine as part of a military aid package worth $800 million. He acknowledged the difficulty of the decision but emphasized Ukraine’s need for ammunition. He also stated that he had discussed the matter with allies beforehand.

A cluster bomb is a type of weapon that is designed to disperse smaller bombs over a large area. They are also known as cluster munitions, with the smaller bombs referred to as sub-munitions or bomblets, CBC News said.

Cluster bombs, employed in World War II, can be dropped from air or fired from ground/sea, dispersing dozens or hundreds of bomblets across a large area. These explosions pose a grave threat to anyone in the vicinity, causing death or severe injuries.

Furthermore, some bomblets fail to detonate immediately, leaving behind unexploded ordnance that can harm or kill people for years to come. According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, the sub-munitions failure rate — referred to as the “dud rate” — has varied from 10% to 40% in recent conflicts.

Also unexploded bomblets can resemble toys, posing a grave risk to children who might handle them and suffer injuries or fatalities.

But a recent report shows that the U.S. forces have repeatedly used cluster bombs in Afghanistan while the international bodies have been silent.

The globally-banned, mass-destructive cluster bombs dropped by U.S. military forces in Afghanistan during their 20-year occupation of the country continue to wreak havoc among Afghans with the unexploded bomblets still remaining a major life-threatening risk to local civilians.

There are currently 195,000 registered maimed individuals in Afghanistan, the majority of whom are victims of cluster bomb and drone strikes across the country during the US-led military occupation, the Afghan Ministry of Martyrs and Disable Affairs has declared as cited in a Saturday report by China Global Television Network (CGTN).

It is estimated that during the first three years of the destructive invasion, American forces dropped more than 1,500 cluster bombs across the impoverished nation torn by terror and foreign military occupation.

Unexploded ordnances from cluster bombs dropped by the U.S. military continue to cause fatalities and injuries years and even decades after the munitions were launched, a senior official of the ministry pointed out.

The U.S. — despite its purported and hyped up advocacy for “human rights” — remains among the countries of the world that has refused to sign the convention banning the use of cluster munitions due the long-term risk they pose to civilian lives even after a conflict concludes.

”We don’t have exact data on the number of Afghans maimed by the use of cluster bombs but in fact, many cases of disabilities — including those suffered by the Mujahideen — are a result of air strikes, including drone attacks and cluster bombs, said the ministry’s Chief of Staff Qari Shah Mohamd, referring to fighters resisting the US-led invasion.

“The U.S. has committed various war crimes in Afghanistan, except for the use of nuclear bombs,” Mohamd further emphasized.

We Iranians have a proverb saying death is good for the neighbor which is equivalent to “long live the snake that doesn’t bite me!” and the West and mainly the U.S. is ardent fan of this proverb and anybody dislikes Washington’s policy or does not follow that policy will face consequence of its disobedience and the U.S. feels it is entitled to commit any crime or use any cluster of crimes to dictate your policies on others.

The report of crimes of the U.S. in Afghanistan is nothing new, and we may see it likely to continue in Ukraine-Russia war if the world does not stop the U.S. from supplying this deadly weapon to Ukraine which has turned into a tool to put the U.S. pressure on Russia.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –For years Palestinians have been suffering from the Zionist regime’s crimes but international bodies and even most nations have remained passive or indifferent to those crimes and this has emboldened Israel to continue its crimes under any pretext and now it is reported that the fake regime has some vicious plans to dictate itself on Palestinians.

According to reports, Palestinian media outlets have warned against the Israeli regime’s plot to “divide” time and space at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied Old City of al-Quds between Muslims and Jews amid Tel Aviv’s push to expand its occupation and brutal abuse.

The regime’s Knesset member Amit Halevi of the right-wing Likud Party has devised a plot aimed at dividing the holy mosque between the vast majority of Muslims who reside in al-Quds, and extremist Zionist settlers that claim the right to “pray” at the compound, the Arabic-language al-Ayyam daily newspaper reported on Thursday.

The Ramallah-based daily further unveiled that Halevi has also called for allocating the southern part of the compound to Muslims, while reserving the central and northern parts that includes the holy Dome of the Rock for the radical Zionists.

The Zionist politician has also boasted that his scheme is aimed at taking away the Jordanian government’s custodianship of the al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Ramallah-based Al-Hayat al-Jadida daily also cited the Palestinian Ministry of al-Quds Affairs as lashing out at such a plot as being highly provocative, insisting that it will further stoke tensions on the ground and culminate into a major unrest.

Furthermore, Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, the incumbent Grand Mufti of al-Quds, has also censured attempts by authorities of the Israeli regime to Judaize and divide al-Aqsa Mosque, allow extremist settlers to pray in the sacrosanct site and alter its historical and legal status.

He further underlined that such plots by Tel Aviv officials will ignite a a major conflict that will potentially affect the entire world. Sheikh Hussein also blamed the regime’s authorities for the harmful consequences of further escalation of tensions in the occupied West Bank.

He then pointed to the Tel Aviv regime’s desperate attempts to fabricate historical facts, which have dramatically intensified recently, stressing that the history of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque is known to all, and that international bodies confirm that the site belongs to Muslims and reject the regime’s evil schemes to divide time and space in the holy compound.

The Zionist regime is well aware how much Al-Aqsa Mosque is precious and important for Muslims and Palestinians and for this reason this regime has decided to take action against the first Qibla of Muslims and every time it does something to make Palestine and Muslims angry.

Of course at the same time this savage regime continues its murder and crimes against Palestinians and it gets no due response from the international bodies.

According to reports, Israeli forces carried out a raid against the city of Ramallah in the Tel Aviv-occupied West Bank, wounding at least 10 Palestinians.

The troops targeted the city, which serves as the seat of the Palestinian Authority, in early Thursday, attacking its residents with both live rounds and rubber-coated steel bullets.

Citing a witness, Reuters said “a large military convoy” arrived in downtown Ramallah, prompting hundreds of Palestinians to gather in the area.

“Some Palestinian youth hurled stones at the Israeli forces, who fired live bullets, stun grenades, and teargas at the crowd,” the agency added. Palestinians also blocked roads by setting garbage containers on fire.

Medical sources said six Palestinians were injured by the forces’ rubber bullets and four by live fire unleashed by the troops.

The Israeli military specified the reason behind the swoop as the demolition of the house of a suspect allegedly involved in a resistance operation in the holy occupied city of al-Quds last November.

According to the occupying regime, the operation had featured an explosion of improvised explosive devices planted at two bus stops.

A couple of days ago the Zionist forces killed a toddler which enraged Palestinians and some nations and international bodies reacted strongly but it was not enough to stop Zionists’ crimes and the regime went on killing spree.

The Islamic Republic of Iran as the main supporter of Palestinian nation against Israel has repeatedly urged international bodies and nations to take a serious action against this fake and criminal regime but so far it has gone unnoticed and unfortunately Muslim nations are more focused on their own issues than paying attention to Palestine and Palestinians and this is something which encourage the Zionist regime to go on killing spree without getting due response.

Palestinians have to take action and rely on their own will power than waiting for international support as this proverb says “You want a thing done, do it yourself” because other Muslim countries are mostly busy with their own domestic affairs and domestic rifts than paying attention to Palestinians.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been and will be the main supporter of Palestinians and it will not spare any support and help to the oppressed Palestinians people because it is one of the principles of the Islamic Revolution that it should support the oppressed people especially Muslims in the world and the international bodies are recommended to act fairly when it comes to countries and nations like Palestine whose rights are violated and ignored.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – While the world public opinion is criticizing the U.S. for its irresponsible attitude in Afghanistan and for its hasty withdrawal from this Asian country which helped the Afghan government falls and the Taliban conquer the country, a report published by an American newspaper revealed another crime of the U.S. and this country’s Imperialist attitude.

On Friday a report claimed American mercenaries, referred to as defense contractors, made massive profits from the 20-year U.S. war in Afghanistan.

Many of the “defense contractors” had donated to former U.S. President George W. Bush’s 2000 presidential campaign. Bush paid them back by invading Afghanistan and Iraq where these companies made hundreds of billions of dollars.

“Who won the war on terror? American defense contractors, many of which were politically connected companies that had donated to George W. Bush’s presidential campaign, according to the Center for Public Integrity, a nonprofit that has been tracking spending in a series of reports called the Windfalls of War, wrote Farah Stockman in a recent New York Times article.

“For Mr. Bush and his friends, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan achieved a great deal. He got a chance to play a tough guy on TV. He became a wartime president, which helped him win re-election. By the time people figured out that the war in Iraq had been waged on false pretenses and the war in Afghanistan had no honorable exit plan, it was too late,” added Stockman.

The article also cited a study that estimated that 40 percent of the money allocated to Afghanistan returned to donor countries in corporate profits and consultant fees. Only 12 percent of US reconstruction assistance given to Afghanistan between 2002 and 2021 went to the Afghan government.

“Much of the rest went to companies like the Louis Berger Group, a New Jersey-based construction firm that got a $1.4 billion contract to build schools, clinics and roads. Even after it got caught bribing officials and systematically overbilling taxpayers, the contracts kept coming,” the article noted.

“It’s a bugbear of mine that Afghan corruption is so frequently cited as an explanation (as well as an excuse) for Western failure in Afghanistan,” Jonathan Goodhand, a professor in conflict and development studies at SOAS University of London, wrote in an email to the writer. Americans “point the finger at Afghans, whilst ignoring their role in both fueling and benefiting from the patronage pump.”

The U.S. invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 following the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. American forces occupied the country for about two decades on the pretext of fighting against the Taliban. But as the U.S. forces left Afghanistan, the Taliban stormed into Kabul, weakened by continued foreign occupation.

U.S. officials assert that the 9/11 attacks were carried out by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists, but many experts and independent researchers have raised questions about the official account.

They believe that rogue elements within the U.S. government, such as former Vice President Dick Cheney, orchestrated or at least encouraged the 9/11 attacks in order to accelerate the U.S. war machine and advance the Zionist agenda.

Following the 9/11 attacks, the United States invaded and occupied Afghanistan, despite the fact that no Afghan was involved in the attacks. Hundreds of thousands of Afghans died in the U.S. war on the country.

The September 11 terrorist incidents and mass carnage in the U.S. generated great fortunes for American weapons manufacturers and military contractors.

According to another report, the September 11 terrorist incidents spelled great news for American weapons manufacturers and military contractors, which by far lead their foreign counterparts in generating a stunning $7.35 trillion in revenue over the course of the past 20 years.

The overwhelming majority of the astronomical income came from the U.S. Defense Department, or the Pentagon, which spent trillions of dollars on its military occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, tying the massive incursions to the 9/11 attacks in what Washington proclaimed as its “global war on terror,” US-based Axios news outlet reported Saturday, citing a Defense News database.

“Since 9/11, war has become “modernized,” which means it’s fought with extremely expensive weapons bought from highly profitable private-sector companies,” the report noted, insisting: “Gone are the days when most of the defense budget was spent directly on soldiers.”

The report further recalls that when the New York stock market finally resumed business on September 17, 2001 — while still surrounded by ash from the smoking Twin Towers — the S&P 500 fell by a sharp five percent from its closing level on September 10, and then continued slipping over the subsequent days.

Now after almost 20 years of looting Afghanistan and putting this poor country in chaos and poverty, American forces have left the country by claiming that the U.S. cannot play the role of police and help the countries while the truth is that nations in the region have awakened and they seek expulsion of American forces or aliens from their countries.

The New York Times’ report is just an example for the U.S. hegemonic and inhuman acts and in the near future the world will see more exposures of the U.S. atrocities which have been committed under the banner of bringing peace and fighting terrorism. History has shown that most of terrorist groups and bandits in the world and especially in the Middle East have been financed or orchestrated by the U.S. or this country’s allies, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been right on casting doubt on the U.S. claim of friendship and impartiality and has seen as its enemy No. 1 and the U.S. is gradually turning to be the enemy No. 1 of the freedom-seeking countries.

The American daily’s report is another blow to the U.S. and it has tarnished the U.S. reputation as world leader.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Crime and No-Punishment. On Saturday, the Islamic Republic of Iran marked one of the most tragic events in its 44-year life and people and officials by pouring flowers in the sea marked one of the crimes of the U.S.

Iranians on Saturday marked the anniversary of a U.S. warship’s downing of an Iranian Airbus passenger plane that killed all the 290 on the board which happened on July 3, 1988.

On July 3, 1988, the USS Vincennes warship fired two missiles at an Iran Air Airbus A300B2, which was flying over the Strait of Hormuz from the port city of Bandar Abbas to Dubai, carrying 274 passengers and 16 crew members.

Following the attack, the plane disintegrated and crashed into the Persian Gulf waters, killing all the 290 on board, among them 66 children.

During a memorial ceremony on Saturday, officials from Iran’s southern Hormozgan province and the families of the tragedy’s victims, who were aboard a vessel, tossed flowers into the waters near the Strait of Hormuz and Hengam Island.

Chanting slogans such as “Down with the U.S.” and “Down with Israel,” the participants condemned the inhumane US war crime.

After this horrible crime, U.S. officials claimed that the USS Vincennes had mistaken Iran Air Flight 655 for a warplane. This is while the warship was equipped with highly sophisticated radar systems and electronic battle gear at the time of the attack.

In 1990, the captain of the cruiser, William C. Rogers, was cleared of any wrongdoing, and was even awarded America’s Legion of Merit medal by then U.S. president George Bush for his “outstanding service” during operations in the Persian Gulf.

In a post on its Twitter account, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Washington neither “apologized” nor felt “embarrassed” over the crime. It was natural to say no apology from the U.S. officials because killing, sanction, war and meddling in the internal affairs of the countries are common habits of the U.S. and one should not expect any apology or retreat by the Americans and for this reason countries need to be strong enough to respond such merciless crimes of the U.S.

On Saturday Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif recalled the U.S.’s downing of an Iranian passenger plane on the tragedy’s anniversary, saying Washington continues to target the Iranian nation with violence to date.

“33 years ago today, U.S. shot down Iran Air 655,” he tweeted on Saturday.

“As a young diplomat, I witnessed U.S. refusal to apologize over the human tragedy it caused,” Zarif said.

“U.S. violence against Iranians began long before & continues today with Economic Terrorism against our people,” the top diplomat concluded.

The U.S. crimes against Iran has continued since the first day of the emergence of the Islamic Republic in Iran and the crimes have been in different forms like sanctions, meddling in the domestic affairs, taking military action or encouraging the puppet regimes to wage a war on Iran.

By economic terrorism, the foreign minister in his tweet was referring to the U.S.’s push through sanctions to prevent the Islamic Republic from conducting any trade activity with the outside world.

The sanctions have been coming in the way of the country’s even buying foodstuffs and medicine among other vital items. The global coronavirus’ pandemic has not triggered Washington to suspend the bans either.

The United States has been deploying sanctions against Iran since the 1979 victory of the country’s Islamic Revolution. The U.S. sustains its inhumane campaign despite several calls on it by the United Nations to lift the measures, and an International Court of Justice ruling obliging it to do the same.

But one should not expect the callous U.S. to stop its inhuman actions against Iran as long as the Islamic Republic establishment exists in Iran and Iranians should themselves give proper responses to the American crimes. The U.S. tries to show itself as defender of human rights and peace-loving country but it can kill people and wage war on the nations easily to show the other side of the coin that reveals merciless nation of this big imperialist state.

Let’s remember the memory of those who were on board of this passenger plane and make our country strong enough in order not to let any country dare to commit such crimes against us with and escape it unanswered because waiting for the international community to take measure action against this world arrogance is waste of time.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Deputy Head of Iranian Human Rights Headquarters said on Saturday that the US crimes against humanity at the international scene must not go unpunished, stressing that the American government must be held accountable for its criminal acts.

Addressing the 3rd International Conference on American Human Rights from the Viewpoint of the Supreme Leader, Majid Tafreshi condemned the instrumental use of the human rights issue by the Americans and the U.S. resorting to terrorist acts against other nations and stressed that the US terrorist violation of Human Rights is not limited to the Iranian borders, as Afghanistan, too, for instance, is a live example, has been suffering from U.S. criminal acts that have led to the International Court of Justice preliminary investigations.

Tafreshi said that in the winter of 2019 the International Court of Justice at Hague issued a decree according to which its prosecutor can investigate the claims made about the war crimes probably committed by American forces in Afghanistan.

The decree in question faced the negative reaction of the then U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who called it “irresponsible and amazing”, and said the U.S. feels no obligation for accepting the decree issued by the “so-called” International Court of Justice. But Judge Pioter Homovski, the head of the criminal branch of the International Court of Justice voted that the investigation decree issued at Hague is quite authentic and applicable.

The deputy head of Iranian Human Rights Headquarters said that Popeo’s calling that decree amazing and warding off responsivity from the United States was followed by America’s sponsoring of an Afghanistan peace conference to pretend that the situation is quite normal and no crimes had been committed.

He said that the U.S. efforts to go unpunished in that respect was contrary to the comments made by Amnesty International’s Solomon Sako on the new decree by the International Court of Justice and the adopted decision to defend the rights of the victims of the war crimes who described it as a historical moment for the human society and safeguarding the human rights.

Today 13,000 U.S. soldiers are escaping from Afghanistan fearing the decree issued by the International Court of Justice become operational.

America is not a member of that court, the official added, because it fears that its soldiers would be brought to justice around the globe for their anti-human rights behaviors.

He said that during the past 18 years more than 32,000 civilians have been massacred in Afghanistan, which reveals the true picture of American-style human rights.

The deputy head of Iranian Human Rights Headquarters said that the illegal recognition of the Holy Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital city of the usurper Zionist regime by the former U.S. President Donald Trump was contrary to the entire international rules and regulations and will of the international community, and has thus far led to the martyrdom of over 60,000 Palestinians.

As a result, we can say that the opening of the US Embassy in Holy Quds was the bloodiest opening in the history of the diplomatic ties and at the international scene, he added.
