Boeing 707 cargo plane crashes near Tehran

A Boeing 707 cargo plane, outbound from Kyrgyzstan, crashed on Monday (08:30 local time) in Fath Airport, located in Karaj, Alborz province, 40 kilometers west of the capital Tehran.

Sources familiar with the initial crash report said the plane, with ten people on board, had taken off from Bishkek heading to Karaj’s Payam International Airport, however, mistakenly came down in Fath due to the proximity of the two airports.

Reportedly, the cargo plane hit the airport wall and smashed at a residential town near the airport. Some buildings have been damaged.

Iran’s Red Crescent Society has dispatched eight rescue teams, including several ambulances and a helicopter, to the site.

The plane was reportedly carrying meat from Kyrgyzstan.

Fuel Tanker Crash in Iran Sets Fire to Bus, Kills 27

At least 27 people have been killed in the city of Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, after a fuel tanker rammed into a passenger bus and burst into flames.

At least 27 people have been killed in the city of Sanandaj after an oil tanker collided with a passenger bus; a number of people are also reported to have been severely injured during the collision.

According to Kurdistan Road Police, the tragic incident took place in the early hours before dawn on Wednesday in an inter-city highway.

One of the two bus drivers who survived the incident said that the bus had stopped to pick up passengers behind a pickup truck, where suddenly an oil tanker rammed into the bus and both burst into flames.

Iran condoles with Cuba over deadly plane crash

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi has expressed regret over a passenger plane crash in Cuba, which killed over 100 people.

In a Saturday statement, the Iranian spokesman offered sympathy to the Cuban government, nation and families of the victims of the deadly incident.

Flight DMJ 0972 was headed to the eastern Cuban city of Holguin when it plummeted into in an agricultural area in the Santiago de las Vegas neighborhood, killing more than 100 on board and leaving three survivals who are in critical condition.

The nearly 40-year-old Boeing 737-200 was owned by a Mexican airline. According to reports, the plane “suffered a failure” and crashed about six miles from the airport.

Following the crash, Cuban State TV announced two days of mourning.

Pres. Rouhani offers condolences over air accident

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered condolences over the deadly plane crash on Sunday morning which claimed the lives of 66 Iranian on board.

Hassan Rouhani’s message is as follows:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

We are all from Allah and to Him we shall return (Holy Quran)

The very tragic incident of passenger plane crashing on Tehran-Yasuj route, which led to the death of a number of our fellow Iranians, caused great grief and sorrow.

I hereby express sympathy with the bereaved families and offer my condolences to the Iranian nation, asking the Almighty mercy for those who lost their lives, and patience and rewards for their bereaved families.

It is necessary that the Minister of Roads and Urban Development visit Iran Civil Aviation Organisation and form a commission of inquiry according to the code of the organisation to manage and investigate the incident and make necessary coordination for emergency and relief operations by the related organs, and swiftly report the causes of the incident, taking all necessary measures to prevent such tragic incidents from happening again.

Ayat. Khamenei offers sympathies over plane crash

Iranian Leader Ayatollah Khamenei issued a statement on Sunday offering sympathies to the bereaved families and praying for the peace of the victims of the plane crash of Sun. which claimed the lives of 66 Iranians.

“The sorrowful accident of the crash of the passenger plane which claimed the lives of some of our dear compatriots made the hearts full of grief and regret,” reads the opening of a message issued by Iranian Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday.

The Iranian Leader offered condolences over the deadly plane crash of Sunday morning which killed 66 people on board in Iranian central Province of Isfahan.

The Iranian Leader offered sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the Divine blessings for the victims.

Closing the statement, Ayatollah Khamenei urged all officials to follow up the case and proceed the necessary steps in regards to the accident, including a respectful funeral and burying of bodies.

Bus Crash Kills 11 in Iran

TEHRAN – A bus en route to an Iranian northern city plunged into a ravine on a road northeast of capital Tehran on Tuesday morning, killing 11 passengers and injuring 27 others.

Firefighters and rescue teams were informed of the crash at 2:10 am local time on Tuesday, spokesman for the Tehran Fire Department told Tasnim, saying the bus was carrying 38 people when it crashed on a road linking Tehran to the northern parts of the country.

The bus had veered off the road for unknown reasons and fallen at least 100 meters into a ravine, Jalal Maleki added.

The crash had ripped off the roof of the bus and passenger were strewn over the area, he added.

Eleven people have been killed in the crash, and 27 others are badly wounded, the spokesman added.

According to the figures released by World Atlas in September 2016, Iran is ranked 4th in the list of countries with the highest road traffic death rates.

The estimated road traffic death rate per 100,000 people in Iran was 34.1.

Bus Carrying Schoolgirls Crashes South of Iran Kills 12, Injures 33

TEHRAN – A bus carrying schoolgirls rolled over on a road in Iran’s southern province of Fars early Friday, killing 12 and injuring 33 others.

The crash happened at around 4 am local time near the city of Darab, some 170 km southeast of the province’s capital of Shiraz.

The bus, carrying schoolgirls from the neighboring province of Hormozgan, was travelling to Shiraz and went off the road near Rostaq county.

The girls on board the doomed bus were mainly from the cities of Minab and Rouadan, and were part of a convoy of 126 students traveling to Shiraz to attend a conference of talented students, an official said.

Ambulances and helicopters were used to rescue the victims, some of whom are in critical conditions.

The death toll is expected to rise.
