As reported by the ICCIMA portal, the mentioned support package has been sent to the province due to its critical situation regarding the pandemic.

As reported, the shipment is comprised of four large consignments including hospital and health equipment.

Two 600-liter hospital oxygenators, 15 ventilators, 15 serum pumps, 50 digital medical thermometers, 7,800 Covid-19 test kits and 8,000 Rapid test kits were among the items sent to the mentioned province.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus in Iran in early 2020, the country’s private sector has been supporting the battle against the pandemic alongside the government and the support still continues.

According to the ICCIMA Secretary General Mohammadreza Ramezani, ICCIMA had previously sent support packages to various cities across the country in several stages.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total items and equipment donated by the private sector, including the Iran Chamber, provincial chambers, businessmen and the private sector charities, have amounted to 15.21 trillion rials (about $36.214 million),” Ramezani said.

The private sector’s support for battling the coronavirus pandemic is going to continue, he stressed.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Economy Ministry considers special tax support for corona-affected industries. Iranian Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Farhad Dejpasand said his ministry has considered special tax-related support for industries negatively affected by the coronavirus pandemic, IRIB reported on Monday.

“Our tourism industry has had special conditions in the past year, and the food and hotel industries have also experienced severe damage due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, so they have been among the sectors exempted from tax payment,” Dejpasand said.

Pointing to the goals for the current year’s tax revenues and the impact that these exemptions could have on the realization of these goals, the official said: “Gradually, by planning and completing smart tax projects, it is possible to achieve these goals.”

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Iran, the government has been implementing several programs for supporting the sectors affected by the pandemic.

One of the major points of focus in government programs has been considering tax exemption and tax relief programs for supporting certain industries that endured the most damage from the situation.

The taken measures, however, have not been enough so that back in May 2020, members of the industry committee of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), in a meeting, criticized the inefficiency of the government’s support packages against the impacts of the coronavirus outbreak.

The committee members criticized the performance of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), Iranian National Tax Admission Organization and Social Security Organization in dealing with the problems of the industry sector, especially during the pandemic recession, and called for the strict implementation of the resolutions of the National Coronavirus Combat and Prevention Headquarters.

In April 2020, ICCIMA Head Gholam-Hossein Shafeie had written a letter to President Hasan Rouhani, suggesting ways for supporting domestic production against the economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Govt. pays over $18.3 billion in a year to compensate pandemic damages. Iranian government spent a total of 770 trillion rials (about $18.33 billion) to compensate for the negative impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on people’s livelihood and businesses and to support the country’s healthcare sector during the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

Providing various facilities to households in two stages, paying benefits to workers unemployed during the pandemic, special support for the medical, tourism, culture, art, sports, and youth sectors, paying mortgage and low-cost employment-based loans to corona-affected businesses, extension of the deadline for payment of duties, taxes, and tax debts, providing livelihood packages for families, etc. were among the measures taken by the government in the mentioned year.

As reported by IRNA, of the abovementioned figure, 495 trillion rials (about $11.7 billion) was paid to households in the form of facilities, while 14 trillion rials (about $333.3 million) was also provided as livelihood packages.

Some 46 trillion rials (about $1.095 billion) was also paid in the form of mortgage loans.

According to government officials, the support packages for households were provided for those without fixed-income who live in red zones.

Nearly 30 million people benefit from the mentioned support plan, Vice President for Economic Affairs Mohammad Nahavandian said back in November 2020.

As for businesses, 89 trillion rials (about $.11 billion) was provided to certain businesses as well as transportation companies in terms of bank facilities with low-interest rates.

The government spent 20 trillion rials (about $476.1 million) on unemployment insurance to support the unemployed and also 170 trillion rials (about $4.04 billion) was allocated to support the medical sector.

Regarding the businesses, direct tax collection was halted in the previous year up to January 2021, and also for issuing or renewing business licenses, natural persons or economic units didn’t need to obtain a tax payment certificate.

Like many other countries around the world, the Iranian economy was also severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, while the country was also under heavy pressure from the U.S. sanction on various economic sectors.
