TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said the Islamic Republic has adopted a “transparent approach” in its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

“International day for the elimination of nuclear weapons, provides an opportunity to correct and modify the global tyrannical mentality concerning the #peaceful use of #nuclear_energy.@realDonaldTrump @SecPompeo,” the AEOI tweeted on Saturday marking the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

“Today, many countries have resorted to the use of nuclear energy, but the Islamic Republic of Iran, with a transparent approach, has demonstrated more cooperation with the @iaeaorg. This issue proves the rightfulness of using this energy for the Iranian people,” it added in a follow-up tweet.

“The @aeoinews with an outlook based on peaceful use of the nuclear technology has promoted its scientific programs in the areas of health, agriculture, food, radiopharmaceuticals, stable isotopes and etc. in a precise and determined manner and #sanctions imposed on #Iranian_nuclear_scientists will not interrupt Iran’s nuclear program strategic principle,” it said in another tweet.

The AEOI further quoted Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as saying, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has never sought nuclear weapons and will not surrender the right of its people to peaceful use of nuclear energy.”

On Monday, the US slapped new restrictive measures on Iran over its nuclear program, claiming it was enforcing a UN arms embargo.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s ambassador to the international organizations in Vienna said the IAEA monitoring and verification of the implementation of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal continues in the country.

Referring to a new report published by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Tuesday, Kazem Gharibabadi said the report reaffirmed that the agency’s verification activities on the implementation of the nuclear deal have continued since January 2016, according to IRNA.

According to Reuters, the report by the UN agency showed Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium now stands at more than five times the limit fixed under the deal signed between Tehran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council – the United States, France, Britain, Russia, and China – plus Germany in 2015.

Under the deal, Iran undertook to put limits on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions.

However, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the international nuclear deal in May 2018 and stepped up sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

Since then, Iran rowed back on its nuclear commitments five times in compliance with articles 26 and 36 of the agreement.

Iran says its reciprocal measures will be reversible as soon as Europe finds practical ways to shield the Iranian economy from unilateral US sanctions.

The European signatories to the deal have so far failed to uphold their commitments. They have expressed vocal support for the deal but failed to provide meaningful economic incentives as required under the nuclear agreement.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani warned that in case of unfair behavior of the European parties to the 2015 nuclear deal, the Islamic Republic will take “a serious decision” on its ongoing cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Addressing an open session of the parliament on Sunday, Larijani deplored a recent statement by France, Britain, and Germany about their decision to trigger the dispute mechanism in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“It is unfortunate that one of the European countries’ ministers has explicitly stated that ‘the US is threatening to increase the tariffs on car imports to the United States by 25% if we do not use the trigger mechanism, so we have been forced to take this path’,” Larijani said.

“So, the problem is not rooted in Iran’s behavior (because) you, yourselves have repeatedly blamed the United States for leaving the JCPOA,” he said.

Indeed, he added, the problem is rooted in the US threat that has forced the powerful European countries to behave “pathetically and unwisely”.

“We explicitly declare that if Europe behaves unfairly for any reason in the use of Article 37 of the nuclear agreement, the Islamic Republic will take a serious decision about its cooperation with the IAEA and its draft (bill) is ready in the parliament,” the speaker went on to say.

In a statement released on Tuesday, France, Britain, and Germany announced their decision to trigger the dispute mechanism in the JCPOA.

In comments on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the move is legally baseless and politically wrong.

In May 2018, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the JCPOA.

Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to save the JCPOA after the US withdrawal, but the three EU parties to the deal have failed to ensure Iran’s economic interests.

The EU’s inaction forced Tehran to stop honoring certain commitments to the nuclear deal.

Iran maintains that the new measures are not designed to harm the JCPOA but to save the accord by creating a balance in the commitments.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the country would continue its full cooperation with the IAEA despite its decision to take the fifth and final step in reducing its commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal.

“As 5th & final REMEDIAL step under paragraph 36 of JCPOA, there will no longer be any restriction on a number of centrifuges. This step is within JCPOA & all 5 steps are reversible upon EFFECTIVE implementation of reciprocal obligations. Iran’s full cooperation w/IAEA will continue,” Zarif tweeted late on Sunday.

The Iranian government announced in the statement on Sunday that from now on, the country will observe no operational limitations on its nuclear industry, including with regard to the capacity and level of uranium enrichment, the number of enriched materials as well as research and development.

“By taking the fifth step in reducing its commitment, the Islamic Republic of Iran eliminates the last key operational restriction it faced under the JCPOA, which is the limitation imposed on the number of centrifuges,” it said.

The statement concluded by obligating the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran to take all necessary measures within the framework of this decision in coordination with President Hassan Rouhani.

In May 2018, Trump pulled his country out of the JCPOA.

Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to save the JCPOA after the US withdrawal, but the three EU parties to the deal (France, Britain, and Germany) have failed to ensure Iran’s economic interests.

The EU’s inaction forced Tehran to stop honoring certain commitments to the nuclear deal, including a rise in the stockpile of enriched uranium.

Iran maintains that the new measures are not designed to harm the JCPOA but to save the accord by creating a balance in the commitments.
