UN: Intensified Israeli siege of northern Gaza is a threat against civilian lives

TEHRAN (Iran News) Muhannad Hadi also expressed concern over the deteriorating health situation in the blockaded territory, saying, Al-Awda and Indonesian hospitals, two of the three remaining facilities in the northern Gaza were attacked, which “intensified the already alarming humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza.”

Israeli forces increased their pressure on these hospitals to evacuate, but the patients had nowhere to go, he warned, adding that aid and humanitarian teams must do their utmost to save the lives of civilians.

He highlighted that power failure and lack of equipment led to the death of two patients in Indonesian hospital.

Since Thursday, the United Nations has issued urgent request to allow its teams to northern Gaza to rescue dozens of wounded trapped in the rubble but the Israeli forces failed to heed the call.

Every minute is important and these delays are life-threatening for these people. Relief and humanitarian teams must obtain permission to save lives without delay, Hadi added.

Attack on Civilians in Karabakh Conflict Condemned; Iran Says

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baku strongly condemned any aggression against innocent people and civilians in the Karabakh conflict.

In a statement on Sunday, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baku noted that based on official sources in the Republic of Azerbaijan, since the beginning of a new wave of clashes between the Azerbaijan and Armenia in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and its seven surrounding cities, a large number of citizens in Azerbaijan, including women and children, have been killed and injured and many civilian facilities and centers have been destroyed.

The office of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan reported that as of October 3, 19 civilians have been killed and 63 other injured, and 44 civilian facilities along with 181 houses have also been destroyed, added the statement.

Iranian Embassy further emphasized the need to respect human rights and international humanitarian law and strongly condemned any aggression against civilians and extended its condolences to the bereaved families.

Dozens have been reported killed as Azerbaijan and Armenia continue fighting in the South Caucasus breakaway region of Karabakh.

The region, internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, has been under Armenian control since the early 1990s.

NGO: 16,000 Civilians Killed in Saudi War on Yemen

TEHRAN (Iran News) – More than 16,000 Yemen civilians have been killed and thousands more injured since the start of the Saudi-led aggression against the impoverished Arab country in 2015, a rights NGO said.

In a report released on Sunday, Yemen’s Legal Center for Rights and Development, an independent monitoring group, put the civilian death toll in the war-torn Arab country at 16,075.

The fatalities, it said, comprise 3,901 children and 2,462 women.

The rights body said the bombings have also wounded 41,476 civilians, including 4,220 children and 3,039 women.

Recounting the damage to Yemen’s infrastructure, the center said Saudi strikes have razed more than 428,000 houses, 953 mosques, 344 hospitals, and medical centers, 914 schools, 41 media centers, 15 airports, 14 ports, 76 educational centers, 130 sports centers, and 219 ancient monuments.

Armed with American and British ammunition and European warplanes, among other Western-supported military hardware, the kingdom launched the campaign against Yemen in March 2015.
