There is no dual citizen on the staff of the Iranian administration, a lawmaker quoted the intelligence minister as saying, as a group of parliamentarians have prepared an extensive report on the Iranian officials that hold dual citizenship.

rapporteur of a parliamentary commission said Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi has maintained that the administration does not include any dual citizen.

It came after the Iranian Parliament’s Investigation Team released a report on the senior officials who hold dual citizenship or carry US green card, listing 210 figures.

Alawi announced that his ministry has made an inquiry about the case and barred 101 people –named in the list of 210 people compiled by the parliament- from taking administrative posts, the MP added.

Last week, the Parliament’s Investigation Team released a 33-page report with 40 pages of documents and appendices after a year of research concerning the top officials with dual citizenship or green card.

The Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has received the report, which is going to be discussed at an open session of the parliament this week.

The case of top managers with dual nationality sparked debates in Iran after former director of Bank Melli, Mahmoud Reza Khavari, fled the country in 2011 in the wake of a $2.6 billion financial fraud.

The fugitive banker had become a Canadian citizen in 2005 while he had control over the purse strings.

Iranian Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei called for strong and vigorous sort-out of the business environment in Iran as an infrastructure of country’s economy. He made the remarks on Monday noon while receiving a host of officials and ranking authorities of the Islamic Establishment and the government.

“Doing this job is up to the commanding Committee of Resistance Economy and they are doing their best but more work is needed and energetic toil should be spent on this cause,” said the Leader.

Voicing content with the public call for having a domestic instant messaging application, Ayatollah Khamenei warned the officials to take their responsibility of protecting people’ privacy is a religious mandate.

“The officials must preserve the security and privacy of the people and the country. Violating people’s privacy is a religious sin and must be avoided,” underlined the Iranian top authority.

“Those who are responsible and the judiciary officials must be vigilant and careful not to allow the private information and secret of people get disclosed,” he added.

Before Mr. Khamenei’s address, Es’hagh Jahangiri, Iranian First Vice-President, thanked the Leader for naming the year as the year of “Supporting Iranian goods” and added that if the slogan is practiced carefully,

“The foundation of our domestic policy… and our social security is based on respect for citizens’ rights,” Rouhani said at a cabinet session in Tehran on Wednesday.

He further emphasized that all of the country’s governmental organizations are obliged to observe the citizens’ rights.

Observing the rights will lead to progress all over the country, he added.

President Rouhani unveiled the Charter on Citizens’ Rights on December 19 last year.

“I am happy that I could materialize one of my campaign promises,” he said during a ceremony to unveil the document.

The charter has over 20 preambles, including the right to life, health and quality of life, right to human dignity and equality, right to freedom and personal security, right to self-determination, right to good administration and governance, freedom of thought and expression, right of access to information, right to access to cyberspace, right to privacy, as well as the right of association, assembly and demonstration.

It has also 120 articles which fully explain each preamble.
