TEHRAN (Iran News) –The chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Friday that Iran will not back down from its threat of retribution and that has made the enemies go on the defensive.

Talking to reporters in Tehran on the sidelines of rallies marking the 13th of Aban (4th of November), General Hossein Salami said the people have demanded retribution against the enemies in the wake of the Daesh-claimed terrorist attack on a shrine in Shiraz.

Nationwide rallies were held in Iran on Friday to mark the 13th of Aban, which is National Day of Students and also National Day of Fighting against Global Imperialism.

“During this route, when I was coming in the procession, people were only calling for revenge. Both the enemies and us know very well that this revenge will be taken,” he said.

General Salami also took a jab at the U.S. and its allies in the West Asia region, saying they were on high alert for fear of action by Iran.

“Today, the same enemies put their forces on alert and are worried that the Islamic Republic will not take any action against them, and accordingly, they are now on the defensive for fear of Iran’s action against them. In fact, this reflects our reality,” General Salami said, according to Fars News.

He warned, “The enemies know that we will definitely answer the result of these meddling and evil-inducing actions, but now we ‘cannot say where and how’ we will do this action. Of course, these are issues that remain for us, and later on the day of the incident, the enemies themselves will find out. Whoever takes the peace of our people will not have peace,” said General Salami, commenting on foreign meddling in Iran during the recent wave of unrest that erupted after the death of Mahsa Amini.

The IRGC chief did not mention any foreign country by name. But earlier he, and other Iranian officials, said the U.S., Israel, and Saudi Arabia were implicated in fomenting the unrest. Earlier, Salami had warned the United States and its regional allies against exacerbating the unrest in Iran.

Speaking on the sideline of a recent IRGC military exercise on the border with the South Caucasus region, General Salami said Saudi Arabia is playing media games with the Iranian youth. “We are warning them in this regard,” he said, according to state news agency IRNA.

“They are openly seeking to provoke our youth. We advise them to exert control over these media outlets. Otherwise, they will pay the price,” he said.

General Salami then directly addressed the Saudis and said, “Note that you have entered this field and know that you are vulnerable. You better be careful.”

In another speech delivered at the funeral ceremony for the victims of the Daesh-claimed attack in Shiraz, General Salami said that the Biden administration, together with its allies in the region, stand behind the unrest.

Addressing Iranian youth, the general said Biden isn’t directly ordering Iranian youth to take to the streets. Instead, he is using complex ways to instigate unrest in Iran, including through the media, the general added. Salami added the unrest in Iran was planned in American and Israeli think tanks.

“During the consultative meeting of today [Sunday Jan. 7], interior minister, intelligence minister and the commander of police presented separate accounts of recent riots in the country with details on the roots and causes of the unrest, the latest status of the detainees, and the role of foreigners in creating and tapping the recent events,” said Jalal Mirzaei, the Member of Parliament from the constituency of Ilam, in Sunday in the morning.

He was recounting the parliament’s consultative session for the reporters and added that Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, the Iranian Interior Minister, gave an account of the trend of riots across the country and Intelligence Minister Seyyed Mahmoud Alavi touched upon the roots and the causes of the riots in his report to the members of parliaments.

“Iranian Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari recounted the status of the detainees, their age and education,” added the legislator.

According to the MP from Ilam constituency, some MPs, chosen by draw, recounted reports from their constituencies and brought up some points.

“At the meeting, it was emphasized that foreign agents especially US played a key role in the formation and exploitation of these unrests in the country, but with the efforts of the authorities and awareness of the Iranian people they failed to harness anything,” he added.

TEHRAN – Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi traveled to Austria on Sunday to attend the 61st General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Heading a delegation, Salehi is going to meet a number of IAEA authorities and nuclear officials from other countries on the sidelines of the UN nuclear agency’s annual conference.

He is also planned to deliver an address to the conference, which will open at Vienna International Centre on Monday.

Delegations from the IAEA member states, including at ministerial level and above, are going to discuss the key elements of the agency’s priorities in the conference and work toward the peaceful use of nuclear technologies, according to the IAEA’s website.

During the week-long annual conference, participants will discuss a range of topics from growing the international cooperation in nuclear, radiation, transport and waste safety, to strengthening the IAEA’s activities related to nuclear science, technology and applications, and its technical cooperation program.

The IAEA is responsible for monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities as per the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), and should also help Iran develop its nuclear energy program.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as E3+3) reached the 159-page nuclear agreement in July 2015 and began to implement it in January 2016.

Since the accord was signed in Vienna, the IAEA has confirmed Iran’s compliance with the JCPOA commitments in all of its reports.

Iranian gas production will reach 1.3 billion cubic meters per day and production of gas condensate will reach 864,000 bpd in the next five years, Kardor said, according to Shana news agency.

He added that the boost in oil production will come from an increase of 420,000 bpd from the West Karoun oil field and an additional 280,000 bps from oil fields in central and southern Iran as well as the Falat Ghare oil company.

Oil exports are expected to reach up to 2.5 million bpd within five years, the Iranian oil official added.

The increase in gas production is expected to come from South Pars, the world’s largest gas field, according to Kardor.

Iran has been producing around 3.8 million bpd in recent months.
