Iran win Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship for seventh time

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Iran became the most decorated volleyball team in the Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship after defeated India 3-1 (25-12, 25-19, 22-25, 25-15) in the final match Monday night.

Iran have claimed the title seven times, one time more than South Korea.

South Korea also claimed the bronze medal with a 3-0 win over Thailand.

Iran and India will represent Asia in the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship as the top two teams.

The 2022 Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship is the 21st edition of the Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA).

The tournament was held from Aug. 22 to 29 in Riffa, Bahrain.

Goodray Joins One Championship

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The famous Iranian Venum training camp fighter in the middleweight, Reza Goodary, by signing a one-year contract joined the One Championship.

According to the contract, Goodary is to show up in two major events of this martial arts promoting organization in the MMA category.

One Championship is considered as the biggest martial arts promoting organization in holding MMA competitions in Asia and the third biggest in the world (after UCF and Bellator) whose events are regularly held in Asia every year.

It is noteworthy to mention that Goodary is the eighth Iranian who had succeeded in signing contract with this organization.

In his first fight, Goodary will show up in February 2022, having two jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine is the pre-requisite for the fight.

Goodary with more than 26 years of practicing martial arts and championship in the fields of karate, jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai is currently preparing himself to fight in the MMA martial arts competition.

We Learned from FIVB Club World Championship: Karkhaneh

TEHRAN – Iran’s Sarmaye Bank coach Mostafa Karkhaneh says they’ve learned a lot from the 2017 FIVB Men’s Club World Championship.

Sarmaye Bank suffered two defeats against Poland’s ZAKSA and Brazilian Sada Cruzeiro in the competition underway in Opole, Poland.

Sarmaye Bank will play Lube Civitanova Thursday night.

“This was the best experience for us. I think this group was so much more difficult than the other group,” Karkhaneh said in the post-match news conference.

“We had Sada, the defending champion, and teams like Lube and ZAKSA. But still, this is the best experience for us to continue working and playing next year,” he added.

“We actually didn’t have any chance to go into semifinals and finals, but the experience we gained from this tournament will help us the next time we come here,” Karkhaneh concluded.

S. Korea Defeats Iran at FIVB Women’s World Championship Asian Qualifiers

TEHRAN – South Korea overpowered Iran in straight set (25-16, 25-18, 25-20) at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Japan 2018 Asian Qualifiers Pool B at the Nakhon Pathom Gymnasium on Friday.

Kim Yeonkoung collected 11 crucial points to power Korea to the victory. Mahsa Saberi also scored 11 points for Iran.

Korea head coach Hong Sungjin said after the match: “Iran has tall players. They served well and came up with powerful attacks. Fortunately, we practiced a lot for this match. We were confident of beating Iran.”

With the loss to Korea, Iran is assured of missing the cut for the next year’s World Championship Finals in Japan.

The Iranians had already played three matches and lost them all. They will have a rest day on Saturday and will play their last match against Vietnam on Sunday.

Iran Books AFC U-16 Championship 2018 Ticket

TEHRAN – Iran powered its way into the AFC U-16 Championship 2018 Malaysia after a 2-1 win over 10-man Afghanistan in a Group C tie at the Enghelab Stadium on Friday.

Iran went ahead in the 26th minute through Mahdi Seyedi.

Amir Jafari added the second for Iran in the 69th minute as Afghanistan struggled to find a breakthrough.

Afghanistan’s Esmatullah Kazimi was sent off in the 85th minute for a second yellow card.

Mohammad Amin Nezami put a goal back for Afghanistan from the penalty spot in stoppage time.

The win means Iran – who is on nine points – is assured of top spot irrespective of what happens in its final match against Kyrgyz Republic on Sunday as only Afghanistan can achieve nine points, the-AFC.com wrote.

The 2018 AFC U-16 Championship will take place in Malaysia between 20 September and 7 October 2018.

A total of 16 teams will play in the tournament.
