Issues related to the development of economic cooperation within the Caspian region will be considered in the framework of the Forum.

Agenda includes the creation of conditions for large-scale projects, discussions on the role of the economy of the Caspian region on the global level, investment attractiveness in oil and gas, energy, transport, trade, agro-industrial, tourism and other sectors of the economy of the Caspian states that possess mutual interest, Trend reported.

The first Caspian Economic Forum will give an extra impetus to cooperation in spheres of trade, investment and tourism, which will promote turning of the Caspian Region into one of the largest global transportation and transit hubs, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said earlier, according to Tass.

Exchanging views among officials of five Caspian Sea littoral states [including Russia, Turkmenistan, Iran, Republic of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan] as well as establishing very close relationship with one another has resolved some problems facing these countries, he emphasized.

He, who is also plenipotentiary ambassador of Turkmenistan to Russia, added, “with their unity and amity, five Caspian Sea littoral states can protect the region from presence of transnational actors in line with promoting their socioeconomic development among themselves.”

He termed the key role of each of important countries of this region especially Islamic Republic of Iran with regard to the establishment of common Caspian market as ‘vital and essential’ and added, “the First Economic Forum of the Caspian Sea littoral states will be held in Turkmenistan’s Awaza on August 11-12.”

Establishing regional unity and amity and turning Caspian Sea into the sea of peace and friendship has been cited as the main aim behind organizing this forum, he stated.

Khavazi made the remarks on Tue. in conference of “Convention on Biological Diversity” and added, “this issue will enable us to take maximum advantage of global capacity to maintain biodiversity in the country.’

He pointed to two-year backwardness of Iran in submitting report on biodiversity and continued, “with the delegation of biodiversity authority to the Ministry of Agriculture, compilation of these reports will begin in very near future.”

However, effective steps have bene taken in order to ameliorate current situation of the country in the Convention on Biological Diversity, he added.
