Reacting to an interview published in ILNA, the ministry in a statement refuted the allegations published in the interview and claimed the car production in 8 months has been the highest in recent four years.

The ministry said that 748,000 cars have been manufactured in 8 months which is the highest in recent four years and the car production has witnessed 15% growth comparing to the same period in 2 years ago and 53% more than three years ago.

The ministry also criticized some statistics in that interview and called them baseless and contradictory.

It also refuted the news that imported cars will soon arrive in the national countries because imports of cars are still under process.

The ministry also rejected the claims that auto-makers are to increase the prices of their products by 100%, noting that the prices of products have not even increased by 4% and it is not to increase more.

According to the ministry, in the first 8 months of the year, car production and delivery to the market has increased by 32% and even in the Iranian calandar month of Aban, the production of different types of light and heavy vehicles boke the five-year record of production.

The ministry has also reiterated that car production will accelerate and the number of production will increase by the end of the year in mid-March.

According to the data, the production by the mentioned companies has decreased by 0.83 percent compared to the previous year’s same five months in which the output stood at 348,303.

During the said five months, IKCO manufactured 169,956 vehicles, 891 vehicles more than the same period last year.

During this period, this industrial group was able to produce 116,502 vehicles in the Peugeot group, 18,984 vehicles in the Samand group, 20,08 Dena vehicles, 11,061 Rana vehicles, 1,957 Haima vehicles, and 1,341 Tara vehicles.

SAIPA manufactured 131,699 vehicles in the mentioned period. Production by this automaker fell 4.28 percent in comparison to the previous year’s same time span.

Pars Khodro also manufactured 43,767 vehicles in the period under review, of which 8,759 were manufactured in the fifth month.

The mentioned producer’s output in the said period increased by five percent compared to the last year’s same five months.

Last week, new Industry, Mining and Trade Minister Seyyed Reza Fatemi Amin said that his ministry has a two-year plan for the auto industry based on which this industry will undergo serious changes and improve significantly.

“We must strengthen competition, improve management and economic mechanisms, and increase production in the auto industry in order to succeed in our plans,” Fatemi Amin said.

“Our plan is to produce 1.6 million vehicles next year (begins in March 2022), which will increase to three million units in [the Iranian calendar year] 1404 (begins in March 2025), and 30 percent of the production, equivalent to about one million units, should be sent to export markets,” he added.

Iran’s major carmakers had manufactured 900,714 vehicles in the previous year (ended on March 20), which was 4.3 percent more than the figure of its preceding year.

According to Codal data, during the past year, IKCO manufactured 480,338 vehicles, which was 21.9 percent more than the output in its preceding year, which was 393,812 vehicles.

SAIPA manufactured 317,321 vehicles, with a 12.6-percent fall from 363,379 vehicles manufactured in 1398. And Pars Khodro manufactured 103,055 vehicles in the past year, showing a 2.8-percent drop from the output of its previous year, which was 106,072 vehicles.

Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry’s programs for the current Iranian calendar year show that the manufacturing of 1.2 million cars has been put on the agenda.

According to the Industry Ministry data, since Iranian automakers had produced 984,200 such vehicles in the previous calendar year, the country’s car output is planned to increase by over 21.9 percent in the current year.

Over 11.137 million tires weighting 70,447 tons have been produced during the three-month period of this year, indicating also six percent growth in terms of weight.

According to the statistics, in the first three months of this year, the highest growth was due to the production of bicycle tires, which increased by 58 percent in number and 41 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.

During this period, more than 2,062 bicycle tires weighing 4,241 tons have been produced in the country.

Meanwhile, over 5.895 million of all types of cars (light and heavy) equivalent to 63,848 tons have been produced in the first three months of this year in the country, which in terms of number a one-percent growth and in terms of weight a two-percent rise is seen.

Of the mentioned amount, over 5.107 million were the passenger car tires, with one percent growth in terms of weight.

Some 6,848 tons of van tires were produced, indicating a 25-percent growth.

Also, 13,470 tons of truck and bus tires were produced, showing a 13-percent rise.

Production of the tires of light agricultural vehicles experienced a decline of 26 percent to stand at 802 tons, while that of the heavy ones rose one percent to stand at 4,714 tons.

Meanwhile, 1,124 tons of road building and industrial vehicle tires were produced, with a 26-percent drop compared to the first three months of the past year.

In a bid to nullify the U.S. sanctions, Iran is determined to strengthen its domestic production to achieve self-reliance.

Selecting the motto of “Pickup in Production” for the Iranian calendar year 1398 (March 2019-March 2020), and the slogan of “Surge in Production” for the year 1399 (March 2020-March 2021) indicates the Islamic Republic’s determination to achieve this goal.

To this end, the Iranian ministries besides the private sector outlined their programs for the surge in production in the past year, and pursued the set objectives seriously in this due.

It is clear that among different ministries, the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade was one with a somehow heavier responsibility to materialize the motto of the year.

The ministry managed to fulfill its duty as the production of some major industrial products was noticeably increased in the previous year.

One of the sectors, which achieved outstanding output growth, was the tire production industry.

The country’s tire industry, despite the continuation of sanctions and the coronavirus pandemic conditions, as well as some domestic restrictions, has had a thriving and successful year overall; a year that was accompanied by record-breaking production and entry into some new fields.

In this regard, breaking of production records in the production of various types of tires was witnessed, and for the first time the annual output surpassed 24 million tires.

In addition to the successes achieved in terms of the output amount, the tire manufacturers entered new areas including production of the wide base tires and the tires of SUVs.

Wide base tires, which are a new generation of the heavy vehicles’ tires, were produced for the first time in the West Asia by the Iranian producers.

In recent years, with the high investment making of domestic companies and with more emphasis on research and development (R&D), the production of this type of tires with a high-quality standard has been on the agenda, it is while in the past, Iran had to rely on foreign aid to change the generation of tires.

Mostafa Tanha, the spokesman of the Iranian Tire Syndicate, has recently said, “The investments made by companies in the past years in the field of research and development (R&D) and equipment and machinery, are now bearing fruit and we are witnessing the prosperity of companies.”

Now, as the approach of strengthening domestic production is also pursuing in the current Iranian calendar year, which is named “Production: Support and the Elimination of Obstacles”, tire production industry is among the sectors focused for the materialization of this motto.

Iran accounts for 41 percent of tire output in West Asia, according to Mohsen Safdari, the deputy director of the non-metal industries office of the Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry.

Development of the country’s tire production industry, not only is to materialize self-reliance, but also is to boost non-oil export and get a larger share of the regional market for Iran.

TEHRAN – Acting Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Hossein Modarres Khiabani says the car production in the first four months of the current year has grown by 19 percent and after two years, the car industry has come out of negative growth.

Speaking to IRNA, Modarres Khiabani said that after pullout of French and South Korean auto-makers and reimposition of the U.S. sanctions, nobody thought that Iran could continue its way but the industry has planned to produce 1.2m cars by the yearend.

He added that last year, 831,234 vehicles were produced in the country which shows 13 percent decline comparing to the preceding year.

Modarres Khiabani reiterated that this year the car production has been accelerated as the industry sees positive growth in production after two years of slump.

He also pointed to the growth in the cement production which has been 15 percent comparing to the early days of the Islamic Revolution.

Modarres Khiabani, who has been designated by President Hassan Rouhani as the new minister of industry, Mine and Trade, added that production in petrochemical sector has been doubled comparing to 2012 and the production in the textile and apparel sector has also been doubled during President Rouhani’s presidency.

He further said till ten years ago, Iran was importer of cooler and air-conditioner but today it produces 75 percent of its needs.

He also pointed to 49 percent growth in the aluminum production in the first four months, last year the aluminum production was enhanced to 750,000 tons which was twice the previous capacity.

Modarres Khiabani noted that the ministry is planning to inaugurate the first TV panel production in the country in the Government Week.

He added during the week, a refrigerator and freezer production unit with capacity of producing 300 sets will be inaugurated in Qom.

Next week Majlis is to hold a session for giving vote of confidence to the designated minister to take the job.
