As reported, Iranian carmakers managed to manufacture 112,891 vehicles in the mentioned month.

Car manufacturing in Iran increased by 39 percent in the past Iranian calendar year 1401 (ended on March 20), as the Iranian carmakers manufactured 1,347,394 vehicles in the mentioned year.

In the past year, 1,182,078 passenger cars were manufactured in the country, registering a 35-percent rise year on year.

Vans accounted for the lion’s share of the production in the past year, as 125,507 vans were manufactured, with a 56-percent growth.

In the past year, 34,136 trucks were manufactured, with a 150 percent rise.

The manufacturing of buses stood at 1,391, and minibusses, and middle buses at 1,118, registering a growth of 88 percent and 11 percent, respectively.

Also, about 450,000 motorcycles were manufactured in the previous year, with a 61.2 percent rise year on year.

Meanwhile, the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (known as OICA) ranked Iran sixth in the world in terms of car manufacturing growth in 2022.

According to the OICA data, car manufacturing in Iran increased by 19 percent in 2022, as the country manufactured 1.064 million vehicles in the mentioned year, while the figure was 894,000 in 2021.

The international organization in its annual report released in mid-March had ranked Iran as the world’s 16th largest automaker in 2022.

According to the OICA report, Iran’s position among the world’s top automakers has improved by three places in 2022 compared to the previous year making the country stand above industrial countries like the UK, Russia, and the Czech Republic. The Islamic Republic was ranked 19th in the OICA list of the world’s top automakers in 2021.

Based on the mentioned report, Iranian automakers managed to manufacture 1,064,298 vehicles in 2022 to register a 19-percent growth compared to the previous year.

According to the OICA data, in 2022, more than 85 million cars were produced worldwide, indicating a six percent growth compared to 2021.

Also, European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), in its annual report released in late February, ranked Iran as the world’s 11th largest automaker in 2022.

According to the ACEA report, Iran’s position among the world’s top automakers has improved by eight places in 2022 compared to the previous year. The Islamic Republic was ranked 19th in the ACEA list of the world’s top automakers in 2021.

Based on the mentioned report, Iranian automakers managed to manufacture 1,085,859 vehicles in 2022 to register a 10.8-percent growth compared to 979,969 cars in 2021.

According to the ACEA data, in 2022, more than 68 million cars were produced worldwide, indicating a 7.9 percent growth compared to 2021. About 63,200,000 cars were produced in the world in 2021.

Over 11.777 million tires were produced during the six-month period of this year, indicating a three- percent decline in terms of number, IRNA reported.

According to the statistics, in the mentioned period, 73,578 tons of passenger cars were produced, showing four percent fall year on year.

In the period under review, some 13,289 tons of van tires were also produced, indicating a 14-percent growth. Meanwhile, 27,341 tons of truck and bus tires were produced, showing a three-percent rise.

Production of the tires of light agricultural vehicles experienced a decline of 28 percent to stand at 1,838 tons, while that of the heavy ones also declined one percent to stand at 9,105 tons.

Production of the tires of rod building and industrial vehicles also fell 14 percent to 2,515 tons in the period under review.

In the first half of the present year, 9, 082 tons of bicycle and motorcycle tires was produced, showing 18 percent growth.

In a bid to nullify the U.S. sanctions, Iran is determined to strengthen its domestic production to achieve self-reliance.

Selecting the motto of “Pickup in Production” for the Iranian calendar year 1398 (March 2019-March 2020), and the slogan of “Surge in Production” for the year 1399 (March 2020-March 2021) indicates the Islamic Republic’s determination to achieve this goal.

To this end, the Iranian ministries besides the private sector outlined their programs for the surge in production in the past year and pursued the set objectives seriously in this due.

It is clear that among different ministries, the Ministry of Industry, Mining, and Trade was one with a somehow heavier responsibility to materialize the motto of the year.

The ministry managed to fulfill its duty as the production of some major industrial products was noticeably increased in the previous year.

One of the sectors, which achieved outstanding output growth, was the tire production industry.

The country’s tire industry, despite the continuation of sanctions and the coronavirus pandemic conditions, as well as some domestic restrictions, has had a thriving and successful year overall; a year that was accompanied by record-breaking production and entry into some new fields.

In this regard, the breaking of production records in the production of various types of tires was witnessed, and for the first time, the annual output surpassed 24 million tires.

In addition to the successes achieved in terms of the output amount, the tire manufacturers entered new areas including production of the wide base tires and the tires of SUVs.

Wide base tires, which are a new generation of heavy vehicles’ tires, were produced for the first time in West Asia by Iranian producers.

According to the data, the production by the mentioned companies was just one percent more than that of the last year’s first quarter in which the output stood at 203,334.

During the said three months, IKCO manufactured 97,230 vehicles, registering a slight rise of just 0.57 percent compared to the same period last year.

SAIPA manufactured 81,669 vehicles in the mentioned period, 2.7 percent more than the output in the first quarter of the previous year.

Pars Khodro also manufactured 24,630 vehicles in the period under review, 9.23 percent lower than the figure for the same time span of the past year.

Three mentioned major Iranian carmakers, IKCO, SAIPA, and Pars Khodro, had manufactured 900,714 vehicles in the previous year (ended on March 20), which was 4.3 percent more than the figure of its preceding year.

According to Codal data, during the past year, IKCO manufactured 480,338 vehicles, which was 21.9 percent more than the output in its preceding year, which was 393,812 vehicles.

SAIPA manufactured 317,321 vehicles, with a 12.6-percent fall from 363,379 vehicles manufactured in 1398. And Pars Khodro manufactured 103,055 vehicles in the past year, showing a 2.8-percent drop from the output of its previous year, which was 106,072 vehicles.

Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry’s programs for the current Iranian calendar year show that the manufacturing of 1.2 million cars has been put on the agenda.

According to the Industry Ministry data, since Iranian automakers had produced 984,200 such vehicles in the previous calendar year, the country’s car output is planned to increase by over 21 percent in the current year.

The production of 8,968 buses, minibuses, and vans is also planned for the current year, which would be an increase of 378 percent in this sector. Last year, domestic automakers managed to produce only 1,873 units of such vehicles.

Iranian carmakers manufactured 336,699 vehicles during the first quarter of this year, while the figure was 307,666 in the same period of time in the preceding year.

Passenger cars output stood at 317,810 in the three-month period of this year, rising from 290,887 passenger cars manufactured in the first quarter of last year.

Iranian carmakers manufactured over 1.535 vehicles during the past Iranian calendar year 1396 (ended on March 20), with 13.7 percent rise from the figure of its preceding year, Industry Ministry has announced.

According to the ministry’s data, car manufacturing in Iran stood at over 1.35 million in the calendar year 1395.

As reported, 1.442 million passenger cars were manufactured in the past year, with 14.9 percent growth from 1.255 million cars in its previous year.

Some 1,381 minibuses and middle buses were manufactured in 1396, indicating 52.6 percent increase from 905 minibuses and middle buses manufactured in 1395.

Also, 1,782 buses were manufactured in the last year, with 53.9 percent rise from 1,158 buses manufactured in the year before.
