										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="summary"><em>TEHRAN (<a href="https://www.irannewsdaily.com/">Iran News</a>) –</em>Iran defeated Uzbekistan 5-4 to win the 2023 CAFA Women&#8217;s Futsal Championship on Monday.</p>
<p>Sara Shirbeigi and Mahsa Kamali scored two goals each and captain Fereshteh Karimi also was on target for Team Melli.</p>
<p>Iran had defeated Kyrgyzstan 5-0 and Tajikistan 16-0 in the tournament.</p>
<p>Earlier in the day, Tajikistan defeated Kyrgyzstan 4-2 in the bronze medal match.</p>
<p>The round-robin tournament was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from Jan. 25 to 30.</p>
<p>The Championship was the second edition of the CAFA Women&#8217;s Futsal Championship, the annual international futsal championship organized by CAFA for the women&#8217;s national futsal teams of Central Asia.</p>
<p>Iran had won the 2022 inaugural edition.</p>

<p>Iran defeated Uzbekistan 3-2 in their third match and topped the event with three wins.</p>
<p>Ghazal Morshedi, Diana Norouzi and Fatemeh Yousefi scored for Iran.</p>
<p>The Persians had already defeated Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan respectively.</p>
<p>Iran captain Mohaddesh Zolfi was named as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.</p>
<p>She has been key to Iran’s success in Tashkent, scoring twice in her side’s opening 4-0 win over Tajikistan on Friday, before scoring the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Kyrgyz Republic.</p>
<p>Earlier on the day, Kyrgyz Republic defeated Tajikistan 6-1 and Iran’s later victory to relegate them into second place.</p>
<p>The round-robin competition featured Kyrgyz Republic, Iran and Tajikistan compete as well as host nation and 2017 winners Uzbekistan.</p>
<p>The competition was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from September 13 to 16.</p>
<p>The CAFA Youth Championship is an international football competition in Central Asia for the member nations of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA).</p>
