Iran crowned champions of 2023 CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Iran defeated Uzbekistan 5-4 to win the 2023 CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship on Monday.

Sara Shirbeigi and Mahsa Kamali scored two goals each and captain Fereshteh Karimi also was on target for Team Melli.

Iran had defeated Kyrgyzstan 5-0 and Tajikistan 16-0 in the tournament.

Earlier in the day, Tajikistan defeated Kyrgyzstan 4-2 in the bronze medal match.

The round-robin tournament was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from Jan. 25 to 30.

The Championship was the second edition of the CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship, the annual international futsal championship organized by CAFA for the women’s national futsal teams of Central Asia.

Iran had won the 2022 inaugural edition.

Iran beat Uzbekistan at CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship 2022

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran defeated Uzbekistan 5-2 in their opening match of the CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship 2022.

Sahar Zamanifard, Fatemeh Papi, Sara Shirbeigi, Fereshteh Karimi and Nesa Ahmadi scored for the Iranian team.

The four-team competition is being held at the Dushanbe Multi-functional Sports Complex from Jan. 21 to 28.

Tajikistan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan compete in the tournament.

The teams will play each other twice.

Iran crowned CAFA U15 Women’s champions

Iran defeated Uzbekistan 3-2 in their third match and topped the event with three wins.

Ghazal Morshedi, Diana Norouzi and Fatemeh Yousefi scored for Iran.

The Persians had already defeated Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan respectively.

Iran captain Mohaddesh Zolfi was named as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

She has been key to Iran’s success in Tashkent, scoring twice in her side’s opening 4-0 win over Tajikistan on Friday, before scoring the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Kyrgyz Republic.

Earlier on the day, Kyrgyz Republic defeated Tajikistan 6-1 and Iran’s later victory to relegate them into second place.

The round-robin competition featured Kyrgyz Republic, Iran and Tajikistan compete as well as host nation and 2017 winners Uzbekistan.

The competition was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from September 13 to 16.

The CAFA Youth Championship is an international football competition in Central Asia for the member nations of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA).
