The decision aims to reduce the costs of printing coins and banknotes, make the monetary system more efficient and etc., and is expected to have a positive psychological impact in the short-run.

The Rouhani administration ratified the plan to shift the national currency from Rial to Toman earlier in December 2016. However, it was decided to postpone implementation of the plan at the time due to some reasons including the expressed concerns about the time unfitting economic conditions which would ignite inflation and economic instability.

“President Nicolas Maduro has asked the cabinet to resign to carry out a deep reorganization of the Bolivarian government,” the tweet reads.

Rodriguez added that the reorganization would be aimed at “protecting the homeland of Bolivar and Chaves from any threat,” Tass reported.

Crisis in Venezuela

On January 23, Juan Guaido, Venezuelan opposition leader and parliament speaker, whose appointment to that position had been canceled by the country’s Supreme Court, declared himself interim president at a rally in the country’s capital of Caracas

Several countries, including the United States, Lima Group members (excluding Mexico), Australia, Albania, Georgia and Israel, as well as the Organization of American States, recognized him. Maduro, in turn, blasted the move as a coup staged by Washington and said he was severing diplomatic ties with the US. On February 4, most of the European Union member states recognized Guaido as Venezuela’s interim president

In contrast, Russia, Belarus, Bolivia, Iran, Cuba, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Syria and Turkey voiced support for Maduro, while China called for resolving all differences peacefully and warned against foreign interference. The United Nations secretary general, in turn, called for dialogue to resolve the crisis.

The letter was read in the open session of the Parliament on Wednesday by Mohammad Ali Vakili, a member of Parliament’s presiding board.

Appreciating the president’s move to change the governor of Central Bank of Iran, MPs highlight that “this is a good point for starting reforms.” However, limiting the changes to just one of CBI governor is won’t solve the issue, the letter reads.

Accordingly, as notified earlier, current status of the country requires introduction of maximum changes in the cabinet, the letter notes.

He was recounting the parliament’s consultative session for the reporters and added that Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, the Iranian Interior Minister, gave an account of the trend of riots across the country and Intelligence Minister Seyyed Mahmoud Alavi touched upon the roots and the causes of the riots in his report to the members of parliaments.

“Iranian Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari recounted the status of the detainees, their age and education,” added the legislator.
