										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="summary">TEHRAN – The Iranian movies “Maned &amp; Macho” by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi and “The Distance” by Yusef Kargar will compete in the 35th Busan International Short Film Festival, which will run in the South Korean city from April 24 to 29.</p>
<p>“Maned and Macho” is about a girl’s repressed emotions and instincts, which are embodied in some animals that come out of her dreams.</p>
<p>“The Distance” is about Yashar who returns to Iran after several years to give news to his friend’s family, unaware of the news he would hear from that family.</p>
<p>A lineup of 42 films from 35 countries has been selected to screen at the Busan festival.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="summary">TEHRAN – “Blockage” by Mohsen Qarai from Iran and “After My Death” by Kim Uiseok from South Korea shared the best film award in the New Currents category at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, Variety reported on Friday.</p>
<p>“Blockage” traces the overwhelming chaos that happens to a vicious, despicable man who works as a street vendor control officer.</p>
<p>“After My Death” tells the story of a girl who is suspected of having goaded another schoolgirl into killing herself.</p>
<p>U.S. director Oliver Stone presided over the jury in the New Currents competition, which highlights first and second features by filmmakers from Asia</p>
<p>The jury also had Iranian director Bahman Qobadi, French cinematographer Agnès Godard, Filipino director Lav Diaz and Korean filmmaker Jang Sun-woo.</p>
<p>“Both films are tightly scripted, and display vivid detail and excellent craftsmanship,” the jury said.</p>
<p>“Iran K9” a project by Iranian director Vahid Vakilifar and producer Maryam Najafi was shown at the BIFF Asian Project Market with 27 other projects from Asian countries.</p>

<p>Nine other movies will be screened in the category dedicated to promising Asian filmmakers, the organizers have announced.</p>
<p>Directed by Mohsen Qarai, “Blockage” traces the overwhelming chaos that happens to a vicious, despicable man who works as a street vendor control officer.</p>
<p>“Ajji” by Devashish Makhija and “Ashwatthama” by Pushpendra Singh, both from India, are other entries for this section.</p>
<p>“End of Summer” by Zhou Quan and “One Night on the Wharf” by Han Dong China will represent Chinese cinema and “The Last Verse” by Taiwanese director Tseng Ying-Ting will be screened.</p>
<p>“Somewhere Beyond the Mist” by King Wai Cheung from Hong Kong has also been picked for the category.</p>
<p>The organizers also select “Last Child” by Shin Dongseok, “After My Death” by Kim Uiseok and “How to Breathe Underwater” by Ko Hyunseok from their homeland.</p>
<p>The U.S. director Oliver Stone will preside over the New Currents jury, whose members will include Iranian director Bahman Qobadi, French cinematographer Agnès Godard, Filipino director Lav Diaz and Korean director Jang Sun-woo.</p>
<p>The festival will take place in the South Korean city from October 12 to 21.</p>
<p>Iranian filmmaker Reza Haeri’s documentary “Sons of the Judge” has received a $5000-cash prize from the BIFF Asian Cinema Fund that aims to help creative, talented Asian filmmakers realize their artistic vision.</p>
<p>In addition, “Iran K9” a project by director Vahid Vakilifar and producer Maryam Najafi will be shown at BIFF Asian Project Market with 27 other projects from Asian countries.</p>
