Ajax Race to Sign Jahanbakhsh

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Ajax has reportedly made contact with Brighton’s Alireza Jahanbakhsh as the winger looks set to move on from a disappointing two-year spell with the Seagulls.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh joined the Premier League side from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2018 for a club-record of £17m.

While PSV Eindhoven is also interested in the 26-year-old, Ajax director of football Marc Overmars appears to have stolen a march on Eredivisie rival.

There has been no mention of how much Brighton would want in terms of a sale, but manager Graham Potter’s recent comments suggest the south coast club would listen to reasonable offers.

Speaking about Jahanbakhsh’s situation, the Brighton & Hove Independent quoted Potter as saying: “Of course he will be frustrated because he wants to play and I understand that.

“He’s great and does his best all the time, but he wants to play more like any other footballer.

“So that’s something we have to think about during the summer break, we have to do what’s right for him and the club. But he is a good player and can help us.

“But again, from his perspective, it is understandable that he wants to play more.”

Before Ajax offer, Jahanbakhsh has earned 50 caps for his country, scoring seven goals for the Persian Stars in the process.

Brighton Performance of December Goes to Jahanbakhsh

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Alireza Jahanbakhsh won Brighton Performance of the Month for December for his display against AFC Bournemouth in English Premier League.

The Iranian winger found the back of the net just three minutes into the match, ending his 18-month goalscoring drought.

As doing best Brighton Performance for the month, Jahanbakhsh, a club-record £17million signing last summer, couldn’t control his emotions after scoring goal.

The midfielder beat off competition from teammates Neal Maupay and Aaron Mooy to claim the award, following his first goal for the club against the Cherries at the end of the month.

Jahanbakhsh, who netted Albion’s fastest-ever Premier League goal for the Seagulls against Eddie Howe’s side, received 65% of the vote, brightonandhovealbion.com reported.

Jahanbakhsh’s goal was added to by Aaron Mooy after the restart, as the Australian also notched his first goal for the club in the game to seal a 2-0 win to round off 2019 for Graham Potter’s men.

Jahanbakhsh is the third Iranian player to score in Premier League history (also Ashkan Dejagah and Andranik Teymourian) and the first since Dejagah in April 2014.

My Performance Getting Better and Better at Brighton

Brighton will go into Millwall home on Sunday for an FA Cup quarter-final buoyed by 2-1 success at Crystal Palace which completed a derby double.

“Everyone has been saying it will be quite the same. This felt a little bit nicer because it is three league points, winning, this gives you a better feeling which is hard to explain. We know how important it was for the players, for the fans and for the club,” Jahanbakhsh told The Argus.

“Both league and cup are really important to us. We know it is going to be another difficult game away from home. But the most important thing is we just continue the same performance level, winning the games, get back to a good shape, get back to basics, which we always try to do. Playing in a semi-final and going further would be great,” he added.

“That is the feeling I get right now at Brighton and it is just getting better and better every single game. Hopefully I can just perform better for the club. They are following what I am doing and how the team is doing,” Jahanbakhsh stated.
