The Chairman of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said in the Iran’s central city of Boroujerd on Friday “prohibiting Iranian athletes from facing the Zionist athletes is an important action in order not to recognize the occupying regime.”

He added that the emergence of the ISIS phenomenon and partitioning of Iraq and Syria were part of a plot designed by the United States and its allies in the region, but it was defeated.

Pointing out that the situation in Yemen is very upsetting, the Chairman of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission stated “Saudi Arabia has targeted the oppressed Yemeni people with American and Israeli weapons,” adding “after one thousand days of Saudi failed attempt to occupy Yemen, they has suffered a big failure.”

Boroujerdi added that the US is transferring the ISIL elements to Afghanistan and Syria to wage a war among Muslims and keep the Zionist regime safe.

“Considering the maritime potentials of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the international arena and the fact that Iran is one of countries with high water traffic in the world, it is necessary to use the nuclear propulsion technology,” said Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the Chairman of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, on Sunday.

The Iranian legislator made the remarks touching upon the start of nuclear propulsion projects and activities in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He described the measure as a move toward tapping the potentials in exploring the oceans and providing fuel for submarines.

“Nuclear propulsion is not an issue that the International Atomic Energy Agency is unaware of,” said the lawmaker.

“The Mr. President’s decree of starting the nuclear propulsion project has been issued and the supports have been provided for constructing the buildings and so far no international entity has protested against it,” recounted Mr. Boroujerdi.

“Repetitive opposition of European Union with Trump’s anti-JCPA policies is a good sign that EU is acting within its own benefits regardless of US,” said Chairman of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi.

The Iranian senior MP made the remarks in Belgian capital city of Brussels on Wednesday. He is visiting Brussels in the company of MP Mohammad Mahdi Boroumandi and MP Shoushtari following an invitation from the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the EP, David McAllister. MP Boroumandi is the Deputy Chairman of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission and MP Shoushtari chairs Iran’s Parliament Human Rights Commission.

During the meeting between Mr. Boroujerdi and Mr. McAllister, the two delegations exchanged views on the recent developments in the Western Asia, and the avenues to develop cooperation and interaction with the European Parliament.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to undertake long steps and extend bilateral cooperation with the European Parliament within the framework of reciprocal respect and common interests,” said the Iranian senior MP.

“Now it is the time that Europe decide based on its own benefits regardless of US and the frequent disagreement between US and Europe is a good sign for this new era,” asserted the Iranian official.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously opposed to mass destruction weapons especially nuclear weapons so the only legitimate way to fulfil the strategic policy of deterring the possible attack of enemy is to have missile capability and this capability is non-negotiable,” highlighted the Iranian MP.

“Fighting the evil phenomenon of terrorism is the common chapter of Iran’s cooperation with many countries including the European Union,” reiterated the law-maker.

Mr. McAllister, in this meeting, for his part, strongly supported the nuclear agreement between Iran and 5+1 and voiced content with the visit of Iranian parliamentarian delegation to Brussels.

“We attach great importance to relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and I will travel to Tehran in the near future to continue the talks,” said the European law-maker.

“We strongly support the JCPOA as a verified international treaty and we hold that Europe should extend its cooperation with Iran within this framework,” asserted the European legislator.

“These kinds of negotiations will create reciprocal understanding and bolster joint cooperation in areas like human rights,” he noted.

On Tuesday night, the chair of the foreign affairs committee of the EP held a banquet in honor of the Iranian delegation featuring the deputy speaker of the EP.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Chairman of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi condemned US authorities for making meddling remarks about Iran’s internal affairs, advising them against making unrealistic assumptions about the situation in Iran.

“The US and the Zionist regime are trying to drag the current insecurity in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Pakistan into Iran,” he warned.

Boroujerdi went on to add, “the recent sad events that took place in a number of cities across the country stemmed from the rightful demands of people from bankrupt financial institutions; unfortunately, the enemies of the Islamic Revolution and their internal affiliates made efforts to deviate the path of these rightful protests toward riot and unrest.”

Noting that certain dictatorships such as Saudi Arabia do not recognize the least kind of freedom for their people, Boroujerdi added “such events in the free atmosphere of our country are very natural to happen, but the Iranian nation will not allow any countries to intervene in their domestic affairs.”

He went on to voice the Parliament’s support for the public demands, reassuring people that the hiking prices for various forms of energy will happen gradually so as to not cause any problems for various social classes.

Head of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, touched upon prolongation of the Iranian nuclear sanctions suspension for another 120 days by the Tramp government saying “such a move would not be a special occurrence and has been made in accordance with measures of the previous US government.”

If Americans had refused to prolong suspension of Iran’s nuclear sanctions, it would mean a complete violation the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), underlined the official asserting “the measure would mean return of suspended sanctions which, in the context of international relations, marks an explicit contravention of the nuclear deal.”

Boroujerdi later emphasized that preventing suspension of sanctions was a flagrant violation of the document signed by the US.

“It should be noted that the non-renewal of suspension of Iran’s nuclear sanctions would be at the expense of the United States,” he underlined.

The United States recently extended some sanctions relief for Iran for another 120 days under the 2015 nuclear deal while at the same time imposing new sanctions on Iran’s missile program.

Head of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi was reacting to a recent move by the US House of Representatives in voting in favor of measures that prevent the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) from clearing licenses to allow aircraft sales to Iran while also prohibit the use of funds to authorize the required financial transactions.

Republican Representative Peter Roskam said the measure will remain in place until Iran ends its support to Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Boroujerdi went on to add that the sale of aircraft to Iran has been included in the text and appendixes of the nuclear deal, therefore the US House’s measure clearly violates the JCPOA.

“It may be true that the move is still in its initial stage and requires the approval of US Senate to be finalized, but the measure is wrong from the very first step and needs to be corrected,” stressed Boroujerdi.

The Iranian senior MP maintained that other signatories to the deal as well as the UN Security Council must protest against the US move.

“Iran has always relied on its own to solve sanction-related issues and is not waiting for the US decision, but this issue is our right and there is a legal act for it, therefore the US violation must be responded to with seriousness,” he said.

“I hope the committee observing the implementation of the JCPOA will take an appropriate decision about this issue,” he said.
