Iran Wins International Blind Judo Tournament Title

TEHRAN – Iran won the title of the International Blind Judo Tournament in Turkey on Saturday.

The Iranian judo fighters won two golds, two silvers and two bronzes in the competition.

Hossein Darabi in 100kg and Mohammadreza Kheirollahzadeh in +105kg won gold medals.

Sajjad Khodadadi in 66kg and Sajjad Hajebi in 90kg seized two silvers and Meysam Bani Taba in 60kg and Ali Abbasnejad in 83kg claimed two bronze medals.

The competition brought a total of 47 judo fighters from 9 countries together.

Mohesn Jafari, secretary general of Iran Sports Federation for the Blind and Visually Impaired, said the Iranian team will remain in Turkey until Wednesday to hold a training camp.

Iran advance to IBSA Blind Football World Championships

Iran qualified for the 2017 IBSA Blind Football Asian Championships final match after defeating Thailand in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Saturday.

Reigning Asian champions Iran were made to work hard by Thailand in the semi-final.

The first half was a tight affair and there were no goals at half-time. But in the second minute of the second half Iran’s No 10 Behzad Zadaliasghari struck a beautiful shot into the top of the net to open the scoring.

The lead didn’t last for long, however, as Thailand’s No 7, Panyawut Kupan, equalized from a free kick, his long-range shot from 15 meters squeezing under the Iranian goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

So it was 1-1 at the end of regular play and the game went into an exciting penalty shoot-out, with Iran coming out on top 3-2.

Earlier in the day, China overpowered South Korea 6-0 and secured a place in the final.

Iran and China, the finalists from the 2015 championships, will play in final on Sunday, while Thailand and South Korea face at third-placed match.

With Iran and China have already booked their places at the IBSA Blind Football World Championships in Madrid, Spain, next year, the winner of Thailand and South Korea will book the third and last berth.

Senior Iraqi Cleric Cautions Islamic Ummah about Seditions

TEHRAN – The President of Iraq’s Sunni Endowment cautioned the Muslim Ummah (community) about the “blind sedition” and terrorist mercenaries that have targeted the region’s stability and security.

In an address to the second edition of the international conference of resistance scholars, which kicked off in Beirut on Wednesday, Sheikh Abdul Latif al-Hamim said a blind sedition and mercenary terrorism have targeted the region.

He underlined that liberation of the Muslim Ummah is only possible through awakening and elevation of understanding.

Sheikh Hamim urged the Muslim Ummah to formulate their policies based on realities.

Elsewhere, he praised Iraqi forces’ recent victories over terrorism in the Arab country.

More than 200 scholars from over 80 countries are attending the two-day event in Beirut.

“True Promise: Palestine between Balfour Declaration and Divine Promise” is the theme of the conference.

The Balfour Declaration was a public statement issued by the British government during World War I announcing support for the establishment of the Israeli regime.
