In reviewing bilateral media cooperation, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi of Iran and Maria Zakharova from Russia also dismissed claims made by certain Western states about independence and neutrality of media in a videoconference on Tuesday, IRNA reported.

“Presently, media in the West have turned into a tool for psychological warfare and dissemination of false news about independent states,” stressed the two diplomats.

They added that their common views on opposing West’s brutal sanctions and the need for boosting bilateral cooperation in the region will pave the ground for closer relations between Tehran and Moscow.

Mousavi and Zakharova further reviewed facilitating the exchange of media delegations between the two countries as well as interviewing of each country’s media with the officials of the other country and holding continuous dialogues between the spokespersons of the Iranian and Russian foreign ministries.

During a visit to Moscow by Mousavi last year, his Russian counterpart had expressed willingness to pay a visit to Iran in 2020. However, her visit was called off due to the coronavirus pandemic and the two exchanged views in an online seminar instead.

The Qatari official attended the 25th Iran International Electronic, Computer & E-Commerce Exhibition (ELECOMP) on July 18 alongside counterparts from Iraq, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey.

“I had attended ELECOMP exhibition in 2014, but today I see many changes and I am glad to see startup companies at the exhibition. The areas of cooperation between Iran and Qatar include oil, gas, energy and food sectors, and we would like to expand relations in communication technology. In our turn, we invited our Iranian partners to the exhibition the be held in late October in Qatar,” he added.

“In regards to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, I can say that Qatar is expanding infrastructures for the event. I have seen many companies in the exhibition, which can help us. Cooperation in the field of ICT is very important. We face similar challenges and have similar plans for smart cities. There are relations at the governmental level, but we need to develop cooperation between private companies,” he said.

At a press conference during 25th ELECOMP exhibition, Iraqi Deputy Minister of Communications has commented on CT and electronic trade prospects with Iraq and other countries and spoke about Iran’s participation in Iraq’s mobile programs.

“We open the door for cooperation with Iran, we have ties with Jordan and want to expand cooperation with other neighboring countries, as Iraq conducts open door policy. We are just at the beginning of the IT road and need a lot of help to make the progress,” said the Iraqi official.

In total, representatives of 800 companies from 40 countries are participating in the ELECOMP exhibition.

During the meeting, the two sides expressed satisfaction with the trend of relations between the two countries and explored the avenues for expanding the cooperation between the two nations in various economic and cultural fields.

Referring to long-standing 116-year-old relations between Iran and Brazil, Mourão described Iran as a country that enjoys thousands of years of civilization and is the main player in the Middle East region.

He also highlighted the Brazilian government’s strong will for preserving bilateral ties with Iran.

Brazil has been one of the supporters of Iran’s nuclear deal, backing the Islamic Republic in the face of the US’ hostile policies and reimposition of sanctions.

The two countries enjoy a fair share of trades in different economic sectors. According to the reports, the volume of trades between Iran and Brazil stood at $2.5 billion in 2018. Moreover, some $2 billion worth of goods from other countries are exported to Iran via Brazil every year.

Iran’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom Hamid Baeidinejad said, initially, the delayed parcels will be delivered to the customers so that the company could resume full cooperation with Iran just like in the past.

The UK-based company had confirmed suspending package delivery to Iran early April under the pretext of Washington’s unilateral sanctions against the country.

Following the decision, Iran discussed the matter with related British authorities and sent a letter of protest to the UK’s Foreign Office.

According to Baeidinejad, the company changed its decision to reject parcels to Iran after Tehran threatened to sue the company.

He made the remarks in a Saturday meeting with the visiting Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Muhriddin in Tehran.

The two sides have discussed a range of issues including bilateral cooperation in different fields as well as regional and international issues.

“We have to try hard to develop Tehran-Dushanbe relations in different fields to the benefit of both nation’s interests,” official website of Iran’s Presidency quoted Rouhani as saying.

He stated that the two countries enjoy common cultural, historical, literature and linguistic features, adding, “the Islamic Republic of Iran has always favored stability, full security and development of Tajikistan.”

“We are ready to provide Tajikistan with more technical-engineering services and transfer experiences in implementing projects, and it is an honor for Iranian companies and private sector to provide our friendly countries with the best of activities and services,” he said.

Rouhani also went on to describe the development of Chabahar Port in the region as very important for transit of goods, saying, “Iran can be the best and safest transit route for Tajikistan’s goods.”

Today, the region is in special conditions, facing terrorism and foreign interventions, said Rouhani, adding, “with terrorists leaving Iraq and Syria, there are concerns that they may become active in the Central Asia and Caucasus, therefore, Iran and Tajikistan can increase their cooperation in fighting terrorism.”

For his part, Sirodjidin Mukhriddin said “developing of relations between Tehran and Dushanbe is very important for us.”

Stating that Iran’s policy of combatting terrorism and extremism has had effective impacts, he said, “we believe that the existence of terrorist groups is very important for regional nations and we need to cooperate in the fight against terrorism.”

He went on to refer to the Tajik President’s official invitation to Rouhani, and expressed hope that Iran can attend Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) summit in Dushanbe.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Muhriddin arrived in Tehran on Friday evening.

Late on Friday, he held a meeting with Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian to discuss energy cooperation between the two countries.

He also met and held talks with his Iranian counterpart Zarif this morning.
