TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran finished in second place at the Galeb Belgrade Trophy Serbia Open G1 2019 in Belgrade, Serbia on Sunday.

The two-day Serbian Taekwondo Tournament competition runs in Belgrade’s “Aleksandar Nikolic” Hall.

Iran finished in second place with 20 points, bagging two gold medals, one silver and three bronzes.

Soroush Ahmadi and Mir Hashem Hosseini won two gold medals at the -68kg and -74kg, respectively.

Armin Hadipour claimed a silver at the -58kg and Farzan Ashourzadeh (-63kg). Sajjad Mardani (+87) and Saeid Rajabi (+87kg) won three bronze medals.

Mexico won the title with 24 points then won three gold medals and one silver at Serbian Taekwondo Tournament.

After that, Australia came third with 14 points with two gold medals.

Parl. speaker Larijani leaves Belgrade for Tehran after attending IPU meeting

According To Iran News, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani left Serbia for Tehran on Wednesday afternoon after completing his trip to Belgrade to attend the 141st Inter-Parliamentary Uni

On the visit to Serbia, Larijani met with the parliament speakers from different countries besides delivering a speech at the 141st Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly.

He met with more than 15 parliament speakers and officials from various countries in line with the goal of activating Iran’s parliamentary diplomacy.

Over 170 countries were attending the 141st IPU Assembly in Belgrade. IPU facilitates parliamentary diplomacy and empowers parliaments and parliamentarians to promote peace, democracy and sustainable development around the world.

The parliament speaker was accompanied by a couple of lawmakers from different constituencies across Iran.

FM Zarif arrives in Belgrade, meets Serbian counterpart

Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif who left Tehran for Serbia’s capital city of Belgrade on Monday, arrived in Serbia in the afternoon and immediately held a meeting with his counterpart.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif who left Tehran before noon on Monday for Serbia’s capital city of Belgrade, the first stop of his Balkans region and Eastern European tour, arrived in Serbia in the afternoon and immediately held a meeting with his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dačić.

Mr. Zarif, who is heading a senior delegation comprised of a number of CEOs of Iranian enterprises from both private and public sectors, will accompany the Iranian businessmen at joint forums and meetings to discuss ways for expanding economic cooperation.

The Iranian top diplomat will then depart for Bulgaria, Croatia and Bosnia as other legs of his Eastern European tour.

Meeting with foreign ministers and other top officials of those countries as well as holding joint conferences between Iranian businessmen and their Eastern European counterparts are on Zarif’s agenda during his tour.

Iranian authors, illustrator to attend Belgrade book fair

TEHRAN – Two Iranian authors and an illustrator are scheduled to attend the 62nd Belgrade International Book Fair, the Iran Cultural Fairs Institute (ICFI) announced on Wednesday.

Authors Mohammadreza Bayrami and Mohammad Keshavarz and illustrator Amir Shabani Purfumani will promote their latest offerings at the fair, which will be held in the Serbian capital from October 22 to 29.

The ICFI also plans to display a collection of books introducing the literature, art and culture of Iran at Iran’s pavilion.

Iran was the guest of honor at the last edition of the Belgrade International Book Fair.
