TEHRAN (Iran News) –Iran’s Amir Ali Ghalehnoei/Habib Akbarzadeh defeated Lebanese 17th seeds Hadi El Chabib/Jad Abi Karam 2-0 (21-12, 21-12) in the final match.

Iran had defeated Vietnam 1, Australia 2 and Thailand 3 in Group C.

The Iranian team beat Hong Kong 2 and New Zealand 2 to book its place in the semifinals. Iran defeated Australia before advancing to the final.

The competition brought 32 Asian teams together in Thailand.

The Iranian team will meet the South American team on October 31 at the Marasi Business Bay in Dubai, the UAE.

Iran has been drawn in Group B along with powerhouse Russia, Mexico and Paraguay.

Group A consists of Brazil, the UAE, Portugal and Egypt.

The 2017 Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup will be held in Dubai from October 31 to November 4.

Iran has won the title only once in 2013 after beating Russia 4-3 in the final match.

Russia is the most decorated team with three titles, followed by Brazil, who has won twice.

The Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup will kick off on Oct. 31 in Dubai, the UAE with the closing game to be held on Nov. 4.

The competition is composed of eight teams spread over two groups.

Iran has been pitted against Mexico, Paraguay and Russia in Group B.

Group A consists of the UAE, Egypt, Portugal and Brazil.

“We are very happy to announce the new venue of the competition, at Business Bay, part of Dubai Properties. The event will offer great competitiveness once again this year, with excellent teams, all of them with real options to win the cup,” Dubai Sports Council General Secretary Saeed Hareb said.
