Iran beach soccer team defeat Argentina, move up to knockout stage

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Iran secured their second win in their second match in Group B of FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup – UAE 2024 against Argentina on Saturday which propelled them to the knockout phase.

The Iranian team clinched a thrilling 6-3 victory over Argentina in an exhilarating display of skill and strategy.

Iran took a commanding lead right after the initial whistle with three goals by Mohammad Mokhtari, Hamid Behzadpour, and Reza Amiri.Argentina failed to close the gap despite its formidable resilience in the first period.

In the second period, Argentina pulled one back to narrow the gap, but it was Iran that widened the difference again and sealed Albiceleste’s fate.

In the previous game on Thursday, Iran came from behind after a 5-2 loss and defeated Europe’s soccer beach champions Spain on penalty shootout.

Iran will face Tahiti on Monday and need a win to stand on top of Group B.

Iran beach soccer team stun European champions Spain

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Fired-up Iran came from behind and defeated Europe’s beach soccer champions Spain after a 5-2 loss on penalty shootout at 2024 Beach Soccer World Cup on Thursday in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

Spain started a fiery first period by scoring a goal only seconds into the match and doubled and then tripled the lead minutes later.

Iran fought hard to bounce back, but managed to pull only one back before the first period was over.

Iran’s aggressive style in the second period and Mohammad Mokhtari’s goal drew them closer to the European giants, but Spain’s Kuman and Jose Arias widened Iran’s deficit again.

However, Iran relentlessly fought back and even took the lead after Reza Amiri’s stunning bicycle kick. However, Spain leveled the game before the final whistle.

The Iranian side clinched a hard-fought 3-1 victory in the penalty kick-outs and will take on Argentina on Saturday.

Iran beach soccer suffer three losses against Senegal

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Iran’s men’s beach soccer team suffered three consecutive losses against Senegal.

The matches were held in Bushehr, southern of Iran, as part of preparation for the 2024 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Team Melli lost to the African champions 2-1 on Tuesday in their first match and also suffered another 5-4 loss to the team on Wednesday.

On Friday, Iran, headed by Ali Naderi, were defeated against Senegal 3-2.

Iran are drawn in Group B along with Spain, Tahiti and Argentina.

Senegal are in Group C with Belarus, Colombia, Japan.

The prestigious competition will be held in the UAE from Feb. 15 to 25.

Iran came third at their last appearance at the global finals. Tahiti finished runners-up twice, while Spain have one silver medal to their name.

Iran’s Shahriari Match Commissioner of Beach Soccer World Cup Final

According To Iran News, Paria Shahriari from Iran was chosen as the match commissioner of the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup final match.

The final will be held between Portugal and Italy.

The competition is being held in Luque, Paraguay from November 21 to December 1.

Match commissioners are the official representatives of a governing body at a game and are responsible for ensuring the match is properly organized and runs smoothly.

Shahriari, who is head of Beach Soccer at the Iran Football Association, had also been chosen as match commissioner at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics for the futsal competitions.

Iran to play UAE at Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup Semis

According To Iran News, Iran defeated Russia at the Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup Dubai Thursday night and will play the UAE in the competition’s semifinals as Group B winner.

Abbas Hashempour beat the European powerhouse 5-4 in penalties after two teams finished 3-3 in regular time.

Russia will play Spain in another semifinals.

The 2019 Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup is the eighth edition of the Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, an annual international beach soccer tournament contested by men’s national teams.

The competition is being held in Dubai, the UAE between 5 and 9 November.

Iran Ready for Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup: Coach

According To Iran News, Iran national beach soccer team coach Abbas Hashempour says that they are well-prepared for the 2019 Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup.

Team Melli has been drawn in Group B of the competition along with three-time winner Russia, Mexico and Egypt.

The UAE has been pitted with powerhouses Italy and Spain and Asian champion Japan in Group A.

“We will participate in the competition with a combination of young and experienced players. Iran will start the campaign with Mexico and we know the team very well,” Hashempour said.

“The world’s top-level teams will participate in the competition and we have a difficult task to defend our title but will do our best,” he added.

“Our team has recently played at the ANOC World Beach Games and our players are tired. But it will not a big problem for the team in the competition,” Hashempour stated.

The prestigious competition will be held at the Kite Beach in Dubai from November 5 to 9.

The Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup is an international beach soccer tournament which is held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates every November as the finale of the competitive international beach soccer season.

Meysam Ashtiani has been named the new head coach of Afghanistan beach soccer team.

Ashtiani will head Afghanistan in the AFC Beach Soccer Championship Thailand 2019, which will be held in Pattaya, Thailand from March 9-17, 2019.

Afghanistan has been drawn along with host nation Thailand, Malaysia and Palestine in Group A.

Karim Moghaddam is another Iranian coach who has been recently named the Iraq beach soccer coach.

Iraq will meet Iran and Oman in Group D.

3rd in world; latest ranking of Iran’s beach soccer team

Iranian men’s national team of beach soccer attained the rank of 3rd in the latest ranking released by Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW).

Gaining 2413 points, Iran holds the world’s 3rd rank in beach soccer, atop Russia, Italy, Tahiti and Switzerland.

Brazil and Portugal are top two teams of this ranking with 3613 and 2634 points respectively.

As far as Asian teams are concerned, Iran tops the ranking with a significant difference in total points. Japan, United Arab Emirates and Oman hold Asia’s ranks of two to four with 1223, 1076 and 712 points respectively.

In the 2017 FIFA World Soccer World Cup held in Bahamas, the Iranian team made history by winning Italy 5-3 in third-place play off and snatching the bronze medal of the event for the first time in Asia’s history.
