Persepolis May Qualify for Next Round: Bashar Resan

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Persepolis midfielder Bashar Resan said Al-Duhail’s experience and desire to bounce back from its defeat against Sharjah propelled the team to victory but they still have a chance to qualify.

The Iranian team lost to Al-Duhail 1-0 in Group C of the 2020 AFC Champions league.

“It was a difficult match for us because Al-Duhail weas eager to make a comeback after losing the previous match,” said the Iraqi midfielder. “The experience of its players made the difference because they knew how to deal with the situations in the match.

“We missed several chances but we still have a match to play and hopefully we can win in order to advance from the group,” Resan added.

Persepolis will meet Sharjah on Thursday.

Bashar Resan to Leave Persepolis Next Season

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iraqi midfielder Bashar Resan has said that he will leave Iranian team Persepolis for the next season of matches in Iran Pro League.

The iconic player is in Iraq at the moment after the Iran Professional League was postponed due to COVID-19.

“This is my last season in Persepolis and I want to experience another league,” Resan said in an interview with Qatari newspaper Al Watan.

“I’ve received many offers from Persian Gulf countries and Espanyol as well. But I will wait until the end of the season to make the best decision,” he added.

Bashar Resan had already been linked with a move to Al Sadd of Qatar.

Bashar Resan leaves Persepolis to join Iraq U-23 team

Persepolis midfielder Bashar Resan left Persepolis football team on Saturday to join Iraq U-23 football team.

Iraq have been drawn in Group C of the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship along with Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Malaysia.

The competition will be held in China from Jan. 9 to 27.

Resan, who joined Persepolis from Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya on a two-year contract, is a key player for the Iranian team and his absence would be a huge blow to the team.

Resan was a member of Iraqi football team who finished in third place in the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship held in Qatar.

Persepolis sit top of the table in Iran Professional League, nine points ahead of Foolad.

Iraq U-23 football team won the title in the first edition which was held in Oman in 2014.
