Assad Survival Incurs Expenses

These days the market for divulging in the media space has become the lead stories and every media, which can afford to arrange an interview with any informed person, publishes an interview with him/her worth publishing and it goes viral for some time depending on the type of the interview and disclosure, and it changes hands, and of course that is the task of media.

IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK

One of these divulgences was BBC’s interview with former Qatar Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jabor bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani which was just done last week in which he unveiled some important events and events resulted by the heavy costs which were paid to heal the anger of the U.S. and Saudi Arabia in facing Iran for keeping resistance base in Syria with leadership of Syrian President Bashar Assad. In this interview with BBC, Hamad bin Jassim disclosed new secrets about Syria’s crisis and the imposed war of arrogant countries on this country which broke out in March 2011 and some of them still continue in the region.

Nine years have passed since the outbreak of the imposed war and invasion against Syria and several times the destructive role of the U.S., UK and Zionist Regime with support of the countries in the region like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE and Turkey has been proved, and the role of any one of the belligerents in confronting with the Resistance Axis, in its own place, has been of the most important factors in prolongation of this crisis all these years.

Now the former Qatari Prime Minister, who had a special role in this maelstrom of corruption, today due to Britain’s need has come on the stage to disclose parts of these secrets, and in his new interview has displayed another curtain of this war. On the support from Syrian opposition in the Syrian Army and encouraging them to defect the Syrian Armed forces, Al Thani says, “$30,000 was paid too any Syrian military officer who defected the Army and we paid $15,000 to military staff with lower rankings.”

He adds, “Saudi Arabia paid $50m reward to the then Syrian Prime Minister Riyad Farid Hijab for his opposition and weakening Bashar Assad.” He then continued that since the first day of the war till now some $137b has been spent, disclosing, “Leaders of the armed groups have used the abundance of facilities and huge budgets who were receiving and became millionaires.”

“The operation for encouraging the military staff from the Army and Syrian Armed forces was often carried out with financial promises and incentives as I said before, $30,000 was paid to the senior military men and $15,000 to the lower military ranks. Riyad Hijab’s defection from the Syrian establishment was in coordination with his cousin who had been living in Jordan years ago and after defection, Saudi Arabia also paid him $50m reward,” the Qatari said.

Al Thani also talked about Manaf Tlass, an elite former Brigadier General of the Syrian Republican Guard and Assad’s close friend, saying, “Defection of Tlass happened after coordination between France’s intelligence system and Tlass’s sister Nahed who was widow of famous Syrian-born Saudi businessman merchant Akram Ojjeh who had resided in France years ago and had been granted the French citizenship.”

Former Qatari Prime Minister in his interview also points to the then Lebanon Prime Minister Saad Hariri, claiming Hariri had received $100m as reward for defections of military men and the then Syrian officials.

Al Thani further said, “Hariri played an important and effective role in Syria war and he had handed over his office in the city of Gaziantep of Turkey to Okab Sakr, the then Lebanon parliament member, to run it. Sakr also received $10m as reward for his services because he disclosed the role of the then Lebanon Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Syria’s crisis,” and reminded, “Najib Mikati is one of the other Lebanese personalities who played an important role in Syria’s crisis through Lebanon’s Police Chief Brigadier General Ashraf Rifi and received $50m as reward for playing this role.”

The former Qatari Prime Minister in his interview with BBC also touched upon the very important role of Iraqi Kurds in war against Syria especially to the very important role of Masoud Barzani’s in this regard. In the last part of his interview, Al Thani admits that they have played a great role in destroying popular revolutions of Egypt, Libya and infrastructures of Syria and Yemen and all these actions and measures have been carried out in coordination with the U.S. and its order.

What is very evident is that all-out activities of anti-Resistance Axis camp has suffered heavy costs but they have not even achieved the least success. It is wonder that this divulgence by the former Qatar Prime Minister is one of the hundreds of cost processes and uselessness for exerting pressure on the Resistance Axis that all of them with the $7,000b, revealed and mentioned, dimension by U.S. President Donald Trump has been doomed to absolute failure.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Syrian President Bashar Assad slammed his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan for instigating the ongoing war between Armenian and Azeri forces by sending Takfiri militants to the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.

In an interview with Russia’s Sputnik news agency, Assad also said militants from Syria were being deployed to the conflict area, the Middle East Monitor reported.

“He (Erdogan) … was the main instigator and the initiator of the recent conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” Assad said. “Damascus can confirm this.”

“They used the same method in Libya; they used Syrian terrorists in Libya, maybe with other nationalities. So, it’s self-evident and very probable that they are using that method in Nagorno-Karabakh because as I said earlier, they are the ones who started this problem, this conflict; they encouraged this conflict. They want to achieve something and they’re going to use the same method,” the Syrian president added.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on October 3 that at least 64 Turkish-backed Syrian militants had been killed in clashes between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces over Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The Britain-based war monitor said they were among the 1,200 combatants from pro-Ankara Takfiri groups that Turkey has sent to fight on the Azerbaijani side.

At least 36 of them have been killed in clashes in the past 48 hours alone, the Observatory added, increasing a previous toll of 28 to 64.

Late last month, British daily newspaper The Guardian, citing three men living in the last militant-controlled corner of northern Syria, reported that Takfiris had signed up to work for a private Turkish security company as border guards in Azerbaijan.

They added that the militants expected to travel over the border to Turkey before being flown to Azerbaijan.

Reuters news agency, citing the account of two unnamed Syrian militants, also reported on September 28 that they were deploying to Azerbaijan to fight in the ongoing clashes with Armenian forces in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Armenia’s Ambassador to Moscow Vardan Toghanyan likewise said last month that Turkey had sent around 4,000 Syrian militants who were active on the Azerbaijani side in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijan has strongly denied claims that any Syrian militants were among its ranks.

“More sanctions will follow as part of a sustained campaign of economic and political pressure to deny (Damascus) the resources it uses to wage war against the Syrian people,” the White House said in a statement, Reuters reported.

President Assad Vows Syria’s Response to Turkish Aggression

According To Iran News, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad warned that his government will respond to Turkish aggression on any part of Syria with all legitimate means available.

In a meeting with Iraqi National Security Advisor Falih al-Fayyadh in Damascus on Thursday, Assad said foreign schemes in the Middle East region have been foiled throughout history, and the Turkish criminal aggression on Syria falls within such plots.

“No matter what false slogans could be made up for the Turkish offensive, it is a flagrant invasion and aggression. Syria has frequently hit (Turkish-backed) proxies and terrorists in more than one place. Syria will respond to the assault and confront it anywhere within the Syrian territory through all legitimate means available,” the Syrian leader underlined, Press TV reported.

Fayyadh, for his part, conveyed Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi’s message, which focused on further expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries in various areas of interest, particularly with regard to combating terrorism and border security in light of the recent developments, economic cooperation and re-opening of border crossings.

Assad’s remarks came after an unknown source in the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates earlier on Thursday strongly condemned the ongoing ground offensive by Turkish forces and their allied militants against Kurdish regions of the country.

On October 9, Turkish military forces and Ankara-backed militants launched a long-threatened cross-border invasion of northeast Syria in a declared attempt to push Kurdish militants from the People’s Protection Units (YPG) away from border areas.

Ankara views the US-backed YPG as a terrorist organization tied to the homegrown Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has been seeking an autonomous Kurdish region in Turkey since 1984. The YPG constitutes the backbone of the SDF.

Many countries, including Iran, and international organizations such the UN and Arab League have criticized Turkey’s invasion of Syria, calling on Ankara to end the incursion into the Arab country.

In a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and the situation in the region as well as the developments regarding the Iranian nuclear issue and the steps undertaken by Tehran to protect the interests of the Iranian people.

Referring to the US’ unilateralism and its hostile policies against Iran, Assad underlined his country’s support to Iran against any threats by the US.

During the eight-year Syrian war, Iran has emerged as a key backer of the Syrian government in countering the foreign-backed terrorists.

The Iranian parliamentary official also held separate meetings with Syrian Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammoudeh Sabbagh and Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad.

Talks during the meetings dealt with the strategic relations between the two countries, underlining the importance of working on developing them continually and preserving the continued high-level coordination and consultation between the two brotherly countries.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the region and means to overcome the challenge facing the two countries, on top the siege and the coercive economic measures imposed by the US and its allies on the two nations in the interest of the Israeli regime in a way that is considered one of the forms of economic terrorism as viewpoints converged on all the discussed issues.

The Syrian officials thanked the “brotherly people of Iran and the Iranian leadership” for the continued support to Syria in the face of the terrorist war waged against it which threatens the security and stability in the region and the world, affirming that the victories achieved in Syria are victories for Syria and its allies.

Amir-Abdollahian, for his part, asserted that the Syrian-Iranian relations are deep-rooted and that the two countries are in the same trench, adding that the challenges and conspiracies targeting the two countries will only make the two brotherly peoples more determined to defend their rights in the face of the hegemony attempts which target the region as a whole.

He extended congratulations for the Syrian people on the political and field victories achieved under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, indicating that Syria’s steadfastness is considered as an example to follow.

In reaction to Zarif’s resignation and rumors going around, Soleimani highlighted that Zarif’s absence in meetings of Syrian President Bashar Assad with Iranian president and Leader of the Islamic Revolution was a result of ‘incoordination’ in Iranian Presidency’s body, stressing that there had been no intention behind it.

“Surely Mr. Zarif is responsible for the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and during his tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has been supported and approved by senior officials of the country, especially by the Leader of Islamic Revolution,” said Soleimani.

“He has continuously carried out valuable actions at various levels to ensure the national interests of the country, and has also moved toward fighting the sworn enemies of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation.”

“During the recent visit of Mr. Bashar Assad to Tehran and his meeting with Dr. Rouhani, lack of coordination in the Presidency’s office led to the absence of our country’s foreign minister in this meeting, which became a matter of discontent for him,” he added.

“All evidence shows that there was no intention behind Mr. Zarif’s absence at this meeting, and I must emphasize that he, as the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is the main official responsible for the foreign policy of the country,” IRGC top figure highlighted.

Noting the overjoyed reactions of the enemies of the Iranian nation to Zarif’s resignation which was caused by an administrative mistake, he said that these propaganda “have no effect on the determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran in advancing its national interests and objectives, and also on the victories of the Islamic Resistance Front.”

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting the Syrian government and nation in the fight against terrorism.

In a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad in Tehran on Monday, Rouhani referred to Iran’s seriousness for cooperating with and helping the Syrian government in the process of reconstruction of Syria and consolidating security and peace in the Arab country, adding, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue to stand by the Syrian government and people like before.”

“In fighting terrorism in Syria, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always stood by the people and government of the country, sparing no effort in this regard,” the president’s official website quoted Rouhani as saying in the meeting.

He further stressed that Iran is ready to have a role in Syria’s reconstruction, saying, “Tehran supports Damascus in the process of stability and return of refugees.”

“Iran and Syria have many religious and cultural bonds, and relations between the two countries are based on brotherhood and unity.”

Expressing satisfaction about multilateral cooperation and the status quo of security in the region, Rouhani said, “In the latest Sochi Summit, the presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey stressed maintaining the territorial integrity of Syria.”

He described the Iranian vice president’s recent visit to Syria as effective and successful, adding, “The path of Tehran-Damascus cooperation is clear and the Islamic Republic of Iran will be alongside the Syrian government and people.”

“The guidelines of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution are a strong support for development of cooperation and relations between the Iranian and Syrian governments,” he went on to say.

For his part, the Syrian president said, “Syrian people and government always appreciate the Iranian Leader, government and nation’s support in fighting terrorism in Syria and the region.”

“Today, Syria enjoys more security and stability compared to the past,” Assad added.

“We acknowledge Iran’s approach in multilateral cooperation, including the Astana Process and the recent Sochi Summit,” the Syrian president concluded.

Assad also met with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in Tehran earlier in the day.

Since the outbreak of war and foreign militancy in Syria in 2011, Iran has stood by the Syrian government and supported its people against terrorist groups, including Daesh (ISIL).

In recent months, the Syrian army has managed to liberate many of the areas occupied by terrorists and has begun the reconstruction process.

Last month, Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri traveled to Syria with a 40-strong political and business delegation, during which the two sides inked 11 agreements.

In December 2018, Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Adnan Mahmoud said his country gives priority to Iran for carrying out projects in the reconstruction process of Syria after years of war.

In September 2017, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York that Iran would assist the Syrian nation in reconstructing their country after the war, in the same way that it contributed to the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Arab state amid the crisis.
