The department said that Anzan Pouya, the company in charge of the projects, had carried out the necessary coordination for the controlled explosion required for construction and road development activities.

The explosion, heard around 8 a.m. on Tuesday without prior public notice, caused concern among some residents, particularly those living in western Bandar Abbas and workers in the industrial facilities.

The authorities emphasized that the operation was part of standard construction procedures and posed no danger to the public.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri has visited military units and naval industrial facilities in Bandar Abbas to assess the combat preparedness of the Armed Forces of Iran in the country’s southern Hormozgan Province.

Major General Baqeri toured key operational units and naval factories on Sunday, evaluating advancements in ongoing defense projects.

During the tour, Baqeri reviewed progress on defense projects and said that his visit to the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and the Sea of Oman aimed to ensure the readiness of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and the Army to protect national waters and strategic resources.

The extensive field evaluations would strengthen operational strategies and maintain Iran’s defense readiness, the commander said.

He also said that military forces would undergo extensive field evaluations to strengthen operational strategies, reinforcing Iran’s commitment to maintaining defense readiness under all circumstances.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has released a message on the tragic explosion and fire at Shahid Rajaee Port and asked the officials to discover any case of negligence or deliberate actions.

Following the tragic fire at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, Ayatollah Khamenei issued a message on Sunday evening.

In his message, the Leader extended condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in the incident.

He further praised citizens who stepped forward to donate blood for the injured.

Moreover, the Leader asked the security and judicial officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident to identify any negligence or deliberate actions behind it.

On Saturday, a powerful blast rocked the port of Shahid Rajaee in Hormozgan Province after a fuel tanker exploded for reasons still under investigation.

The tragic incident has so far claimed 40 lives and injured more than 900 people.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Mohammad Sadegh Azimifar highlighted the strategic importance of the recently inaugurated crude oil supply project for the Bandar Abbas refinery. Speaking on Thursday, December 13, at the project’s inauguration ceremony, he emphasized the project’s role in ensuring a stable crude supply and maximizing oil product output at the Bandar Abbas refinery through efficient use of the Goreh-Jask pipeline.

Azimifar stated that the Refining and Distribution Industry has prioritized several key initiatives to meet its mandates, including oil product production, addressing energy imbalances, and completing the value chain. These efforts align with the Seventh Development Plan’s goals. The first priority is maximizing oil product output through efficient use of existing refinery capacities.

He noted that since the start of the 14th administration, efforts have focused on leveraging underutilized refinery capacities. As a result, within four months, daily gasoline production increased by approximately 11 million liters, and daily diesel production rose by 12 million liters.

Azimifar stressed that the medium- and long-term objectives of the National Refining and Distribution Company include completing ongoing refining projects by the end of the current administration. These include modernizing existing refineries and implementing new refining projects to achieve a combined daily gasoline and diesel production target of 130 million liters.

He added that addressing energy imbalances requires more than just production increases. Measures to optimize consumption, improve efficiency, and combat fuel smuggling are also underway and will soon bear fruit.

The development of infrastructure, including feedstock and product transportation systems, is critical, Azimifar said. Sustainable and timely delivery of crude oil and refined products is a pressing need. Since the start of the 14th administration, two strategic projects have been launched in Hormozgan Province and Bandar Abbas: the connection of the Bandar Abbas refinery to the Goreh-Jask pipeline and Phase 1 of a new 460-kilometer oil product pipeline from Bandar Abbas to Rafsanjan.

He also announced that by the end of the year, the Sabzevar-Rey pipeline and connections to two power plants will be operational. In the near future, 1,000 kilometers of new pipelines for crude oil and oil products will be added, bringing the total length to 15,000 kilometers.

The adaptations to the calendar include the cancellation of several events, originally scheduled for March and May 2020, that was previously postponed due to global coronavirus pandemic.

These include the 3-star events in Bandar Abbas, Iran; Gold Coast, Australia and Jurmala, Latvia, as well as a 4-star event in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

The strong quake hit an area near the southern city of Ruydar in Khamir County, Hormozgan Province, at 1:34 a.m. (local time) on Monday.

The epicenter of the quake with a depth of 16 km was located at 30 km from Ruydar and 38 km from Bandar Khamir.

The head of the province’s Crisis Management Department said several teams were immediately dispatched to the quake-hit area to assess the damages and casualties.

He added that, fortunately, there were no casualties and the damages inflicted on the houses in the area are trivial.

Iran is one of the most seismically active countries in the world, being crossed by several major fault lines that cover at least 90% of the country. As a result, earthquakes in Iran occur often and are destructive.

On November 12, 2017, the western province of Kermanshah was hit by a major 7.3-magnitude quake that killed 620 people.

The deadliest quake in Iran’s modern history happened in June 1990. It destroyed the northern cities of Rudbar, Manjil, and Lushan, along with hundreds of villages, killing an estimated 37,000 people.

Bam in the country’s southeastern province of Kerman witnessed a strong quake in December 2003 which killed 31,000 people.

The parades in Tehran are being held before President Hassan Rouhani and military top brass, including Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, Chief Commander of IRGC Major General Hossein Salami, and Army commander Major General Seyyed Abdolrahim.

IRGC is in charge of staging the parades in Tehran and capitals of other provinces, while the Army is in charge of the parades in Bandar Abbas in southern Iran.

According to the announcement by military commanders, the Tehran parades will include, in addition to infantry units march, the showcasing of a number of military equipment and aerial maneuvers by military planes and helicopters.

The homegrown Kosar fighter jet will also take part at the parades toady, according to commander of Army Air Force  Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh.

The newly-developed twin-engine military fighter made its airshow debut over Tehran back in April. Kosar, equipped with the fourth generation of avionics systems, is capable of carrying various weapons and is used for short aerial support missions.

The domestically-built air defense missile system ‘Bavar-373’ was also showcased during the parades in Tehran. Bavar-373 is a mobile surface-to-air missile system. It uses a long-range, phased-array fire control radar, dubbed Meraj 4, which can detect 300 air targets simultaneously.
