In a statement on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi voiced the country’s solidarity with Palestine on the anniversary of 1948 Deir Yassin massacre, saying “the bogus foundation of the Zionist regime is built on violence, invasion and terror.”

“This innocent-killing regime has carried out many sinister plots to achieve its inhuman, expansionist objectives, and will continue to do so,” Ghasemi added.

He maintained that the Israeli regime is not above covert or overt assassinations to eliminate its opponents.

“They make futile attempts to fabricate an appearance of security and tranquility for themselves through displacing blame and forgetting about their wretched history of assassinations, invasions and plundering; ignorant of the fact that no unjust foundation has ever remained standing throughout history,” the Iranian diplomat added.

Ghasemi said the massacre of the Palestinians in Deir Yassin village by the terrorist Zionists in April 1084 serves as an example of the violence of the [Zionist] killers.

“Each year, on April 9, the world’s freedom-seekers mark the memory of all martyrs of Deir Yassin massacre,” he said.

In response to an anti-Iranian statement of G7 ministerial meeting, Ghasemi said, “the Islamic Republic of Iran evaluates the final paragraphs of this statement as unconstructive and totally unilateral and also considers it clearly contradictory to JCPOA and commitments of its European signatories.

The statement is based on false allegations and misrepresentations of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and also of Iran’s missile program and regional role, he stressed.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has complied with its international commitments and has shown goodwill in its dialogue with the international community, he said, adding that futile efforts to introduce Iran as a threat will not affect the nation’s determination to pursue its national interests in the region and in the world.

Ghasemi regretted that G7 members are being influenced by bullying behavior of Washington are just after satisfying the United States which is only one member of the body.

He condemned the violation of JCPOA by the three European signatories and demanded their clear explanation about this issue, adding, “Iran will pursue this issue using mechanisms available in JCPOA.”

In their statement, G7 members claimed that Iran is carrying out “destabilizing activities in the region, including its continuing support for terrorist organizations and armed militias.” It also voices concern about Iran missile program while Tehran has repeatedly announced that missiles are just a mean for deterrence and not a threat to other states.

Referring to the last day of the ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said Iran will never give up its historical rights to Abu Musa, Greater and Lesser Tunbs.

According to the official, the UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan presented a text as his country’s statement at the final day of the meeting, however, the statement was passed without receiving others’ comments.

The Emirati minister’s statement was criticized by Iranian and Pakistani delegations, he added.

Despite the complaints filed by Iran and other delegations, the UAE Foreign Minister tended to impose his ambitious attitudes on the meeting by misusing its own particular position as the host of the conference and passed the statement, Qasemi noted.

Right after the baseless allegations over the trio islands were made by the UAE, the Iranian delegation present at the event lodged its protest promptly and left the meeting.

Ghasemi noted that the Emiratis’ claims created chaos in the meeting, making other delegations leave to walk out. This showed the UAE’s failure to gain its illegitimate demands, he added.

The Iranian official went on to say that the statement presented by the UAE in OIC’s final day is completely invalid.

Earlier on the day, Ghasemi rejected another accusation that Iran is interfering in the internal affairs of other states and is supporting, financing and arming terrorist groups.

“Unfortunately, certain countries have gotten used to repeating such claims in order to cover up the damage that their policies have imposed on the Muslim world,” Ghasemi said.

The 46th session of the Council of OIC Foreign Ministers in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

He also expressed the hope that Tehran’s ties with Abuja and Dakar would further develop in light of the results of the recent elections in the two West African states.

Senegalese President Macky Sall has won re-election with more than 58% of the national vote on February 24, without the need for a second round of voting, giving him five more years in office.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari has been declared the winner of the country’s election after results showed that he claimed 56% of the vote.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said on Tuesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on the two countries to do more to reduce tension and resolve disputes and problems peacefully through dialogue.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the victims of terrorism in the world, believes that the only way to fight terrorism and extremism is all-out and unbiased cooperation between all countries of the world.

Ghasemi’s comments came after India said it had conducted “preemptive” airstrikes against a militant training camp inside Pakistan, shortly after the Pakistani military accused New Delhi of violating its territory in the Kashmir region.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said Indian Air Force jets conducted airstrikes against a militant training base in Balakot, Kashmir, on Tuesday.

That came just days after Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, visited Kabul and told reporters that talks had been held with the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The meeting signals Iran’s role as a regional mediator to ease out tensions between the Taliban and Kabul.

Before this, the Iranian media said early this week that Tehran had hosted a Taliban delegation.

“A delegation of Taliban were in Tehran on Sunday and lengthy negotiations were held with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi,” said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi at a televised news conference.

The delegation was on a three-day visit to Iran.

The delegation has been led by Sayed Taib Agha and Mohammad Ullah Nomanee, the Taliban representatives in Qatar and Shamsuddin Pahlawan respectively. The former Taliban Governor of the Maidan Wardak province was also among the delegation.

The development happened at a time when the Afghan Foreign Affairs Ministry had said that discussions have begun over the credibility of Taliban’s trip to Iran. On the other hand, a Taliban official confirmed the trip.

The Ministry stressed that Iran strongly supports Afghanistan’s peace process.

“The position of Iran in connection with Afghanistan’s peace process is clear and Iran will support the Afghan Government in its peace process,” the Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesman Janan Mosazai said.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi denied any knowledge of conditions set by Europe for launching a special mechanism to allow Iran to trade with European countries, despite US sanctions.

In an interview on Sunday, Bahram Ghasemi expressed regret that Europe’s proposed Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has not become operational due to “limitless American” pressure and said “I hope Europe will be able to defend its identity in the face of these pressures.”

In the interview Ghasemi added that Iran is still hopeful the European trade mechanism will be put in place, but he added that at the same time Iran has many alternatives for trade, such as India, China, Russia and Turkey.

“Although we still hope that Europe would fulfill its obligations, Tehran has also tried options other than SPV mechanism with various countries, including China, Russia, India and Turkey.

“We think Europe is incapable of standing against US growing pressures regarding the promised financial mechanism for financial and trade exchange, and it does not have the ability to defend its identity and financial and economic institutions in the face of these pressures,” he noted.

This is Europe’s Achilles heel and if they could not resist the pressures to define the mechanism, the world will definitely change their attitude towards them, Ghasemi said, adding “Europe would lose its current position in the global arena.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ghasemi referred to US president’s secret trip to Iraq, saying “I hope the current leaders of the the White House would follow the path of wisdom and rationality, and we will see less problems in the world and in the region.”

In the media, various interpretations were made for Trump’s visit to Iraq; Trump also presented his own version of interpretation which was very interesting; his visit to Iraq was shrouded in secrecy after years of warmongering and spending 7000 billion dollars in the Middle East, Ghasemi added.

US president’s travel to Iraq is a clear violation of the country’s sovereignty and an obvious insult to its people, because he has traveled to Iraq for a visit to the US military base, without any previous announcement, he noted.

“Today, we see that the United States cannot remain in the Middle East, and the country has no place in the region anymore,” Ghasemi said.

“There are still ambiguous about what approach the United States will take to Syria and even about the controversial comments that the US authorities have said about Afghanistan, but anyway, as the situation in the region shows, despite all the problems and ups and downs, the United States has no place in the region,” Ghasemi concluded.
