TEHRAN (Iran News) Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, brother of Crown Prince and de facto ruler Mohammed bin Salman, called on Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran Thursday afternoon to present the message of Saudi Arabia’s King Salman.

“We believe that the relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia will be beneficial for both countries and the two countries can complement each other,” the Leader said.

Referring to some of Iran’s advancements, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “The Islamic Republic is ready to help Saudi Arabia in these areas.”

“It is much better for brothers in the region to cooperate and help each other than to rely on others,” he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that the expansion of relations between the two countries has enemies. “These hostile motives must be overcome, and we are ready for this,” he said.

The Saudi defense minister expressed great satisfaction with the meeting which was also attended by Iran’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri.

“I have come to Tehran with the agenda of expanding relations with Iran and cooperation in all fields,” Prince Khalid said, according to state news agency IRNA.

“And we hope that the constructive talks will provide for stronger relations between Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran than in the past,” he added.

Meanwhile earlier in meeting with Saudi Defense Minister, President Masoud Pezeshkian said the Islamic Republic and Saudi Arabia can serve as a model for regional cooperation, stressing that the unity of Islamic countries is a prerequisite for achieving peace, security, and sustainable economic development in the region.

Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with Prince Khalid bin Salman and his delegation in Tehran, hours after the Saudi minister arrived in the Iranian capital to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations with Iranian officials.

The Iranian president emphasized the deep religious, cultural, and historical commonalities among Islamic countries, underscoring the necessity of strengthening unity and cohesion in the Islamic world.

“We consider you our brothers, and since the beginning of this government’s tenure, we have made efforts to strengthen fraternal ties among Islamic nations,” Pezeshkian said, adding that if Islamic countries achieve a common language and genuine unity, the Zionist regime will no longer can cause human tragedies like those unfolding in the besieged Gaza Strip nowadays.

He also touched on the importance of setting aside differences and boosting regional cooperation.

“Leaders of Islamic countries can, with a shared will, present an inspiring model of coexistence, prosperity, and progress for other societies. The Islamic Republic of Iran is fully prepared to expand its relations with Saudi Arabia in all fields and extend bilateral cooperation to other Islamic countries,” Pezeshkian stressed.

He also hailed the idea of establishing joint working groups in various political, economic, and security areas between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

“Iran and Saudi Arabia, by relying on their shared capacities and without foreign interference, can resolve many of the region’s problems. We hope the goodwill that has emerged between the two countries will strengthen the interests of the Islamic world and discourage enemies from interference and sowing discord,” Pezeshkian emphasized.

He also stressed the importance of bilateral dialogue and its constructive role in reinforcing regional stability, expressing Iran’s readiness to host Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the kingdom’s de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Prince Khalid bin Salman, for his part, expressed his delight at visiting Iran and conveyed the warm greetings of his father, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and his brother, the Crown Prince, to Iran’s president.

“Our meetings with officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran have been very useful, positive, and constructive,” the Saudi defense minister noted.

He emphasized the need for unity and convergence in the Islamic world, stressing that Pezeshkian “rightly pointed to the root cause of the Islamic world’s problems — the lack of unity and cohesion.”

Prince Khalid bin Salman also stressed that any development, whether positive or negative, inevitably affects all countries in the region.

He further highlighted the key role of Tehran and Riyadh in regional dynamics.

“Iran and Saudi Arabia are two main pillars of the region, and strong relations between the two countries can serve as an effective model for convergence and synergy in the Islamic world. The Beijing Agreement marks the beginning of a path of cooperation between the two countries, and the potential of our relations goes far beyond that,” Prince Khalid bin Salman emphasized.

Signed in March 2023, the China-mediated Beijing Agreement aims to restore diplomatic ties and promote mutual respect for sovereignty and security between Iran and Saudi Arabia under the principles of the UN Charter, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and international law.

The Saudi defense minister also noted that Saudi leaders are eager to visit Iran at the earliest opportunity.

“Iran and Saudi Arabia share common positions regarding the developments in Gaza and Palestine, and the actions of the Zionist regime in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria reveal its attempts to exploit the existing regional gaps,” Prince Khalid bin Salman added.

While stressing the importance of continuing bilateral talks, the Saudi defense minister officially invited Pezeshkian, on behalf of the Saudi King and Crown Prince, for an official visit to Saudi Arabia, affirming the readiness of Saudi officials to expand cooperation in all areas with Iran.

The event is held annually in Iran during the holy month of Ramadan.

Attended by officials and benevolent donors, the event takes place in Tehran and various cities across the country.

On the occasion of this year’s event, Ayatollah Khamenei made the significant donation to support the humanitarian cause. He donated 20 billion rials to the cause last year.

TEHRAN (Iran News) The official X account of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has published a message following today’s courageous act by the people in southern Lebanon.

“All political & material calculations today have proven powerless before the faithful ppl of southern #Lebanon who weren’t moved in the slightest by the usurping Zionist regime army. The Lebanese ppl’s firm belief in God’s promise enabled them to put their lives on the line,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in a message published by his official X account on Monday.

The office of Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, has announced the extension of the November 2023 ceasefire deal in the Arab country.

The decision on such an extension was made after consultation with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and President Joseph Aoun and contact with the American side, according to Mikati’s office.

An executive committee will follow up on the implementation of the ceasefire deal based on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, the statement says.

As Lebanon requested, the US will start negotiating the release of those arrested by the Israeli regime since October 2023.

The ceasefire deal between Lebanon and Israel came into effect on November 27, 2024.

Additionally, some news sources announced on January 26 that the Lebanese people and the army of the country entered southern Lebanon despite the hindrance of the occupying regime’s military forces.

Based on the ceasefire deal, the 60-day deadline for complete exit of Israeli military forces from Lebanon was expired on Sunday, January 26.

TEHRAN (PressTV) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has expressed his gratitude towards the country’s nursing staff for their enormous sacrifices during the coronavirus pandemic.

According To Iran News, The Leader made the remarks in a live televised address on Sunday on the occasion of the National Nurses Day that falls on the birth anniversary of Zeynab (AS), granddaughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Ayatollah Khamenei felicitated nurses on the occasion, while also condoling with the nursing community, which has lost many of its frontline personnel in the fight against COVID-19.

“Today, nurses are dearer and more honorable in the eyes of the nation than ever before,” the Leader noted.

“Nurses are the angels of mercy for patients. This is a true definition, not an exaggeration by any means,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Leader said that as part of their profession, nurses tend to both the patient’s body and soul, which is a remarkable role.

Ayatollah Khamenei considered such endeavor towards the alleviation of a human being’s pain as “one of the most beautiful spectacles in life.”

The nurses have been consistently present at hospitals and medical centers during the year-long outbreak, putting their own lives at risk, the Leader remarked. “To be fair, our nursing community performed an enormous task during this period.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said prior to the emergence of the COVID-19 outbreak, people would not attach as much importance to the nursing profession as they do now. “However, this is not enough,” the Leader said, advising the authorities to revisit the significance they ascribe to the venerable profession.

The virus that swept the country soon after its emergence in central China, has so far infected more than 1.1 million Iranians, including over 53,000 who have lost their lives.

The sheer extent of the outbreak has overstretched Iran’s medical staff.

The already uphill battle has been compounded by sweeping sanctions imposed by the United States, which prevent the entry of much-needed medicine and other medical supplies into the country, including the much-needed coronavirus vaccines.

However, Iran has successfully mobilized all of its resources — with assistance from the military sector – and has managed to reign in the viral outbreak to a reasonable extent.

The national anti-virus drive has seen the enforcement of large-scale health protocols and restrictions throughout the country.

TEHRAN – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says revenge for Iran’s senior commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimeni, who was assassinated by the United States, is certain and will be exacted at the right time.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks on Wednesday at a meeting with organizers of programs to commemorate the first martyrdom anniversary of top Iranian and Iraqi anti-terror commanders, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and a group of their comrades.

The two commanders were martyred in a drone strike ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump near the Baghdad International Airport on January 3. Back then, General Soleimani was in the Iraqi capital on an official visit at the invitation of the Iraqi government.

The two figures were highly popular because of the key role they played in eliminating the US-sponsored Daesh terrorist group in the region.

Ayatollah Khamenei recalled the million-strong funerals that were held for the two commanders, saying the “unforgettable” ceremonies “surprised the arrogance’s soft war generals and served as a first severe slap in the face of the Americans.”

The Leader added that Iran’s retaliatory missile strike on the American Ain al-Asad air base in Iraq had been another slap in the face of the Americans

Ayatollah Khamenei said a tougher slap will, however, be the subjugation of arrogance in the software sector, which requires the efforts of revolutionary youth and faithful elite, besides the expulsion of the United States from the region, which demands the nations’ will and resistance.

“Of course, this harsh slap is separate from revenge, because those who ordered and killed General Soleimani must see revenge, and this revenge is certain [and will be taken] at the right moment,” the Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei said General Soliemnai’s “historic” martyrdom turned him into a hero for Iranians and the entire Muslim Ummah.

“The reason why martyr Soleimani became a hero for the Iranian nation and different strata of people (even those beyond imagination) honored him and expressed their feelings was that martyr Soleimani was the embodiment of cultural values of Iran and Iranians,” the Leader said.

He also mentioned courage and the spirit of resistance as two of the prominent characteristics of General Soleimani.

The Leader further said General Soleimani had “wisdom, ingenuity, sacrifice and altruism” and was a man of spirituality and sincerity, not hypocrisy.

General Soleimani defeated arrogance both during his lifetime and with his martyrdom, Ayatollah Khamenei said. “The U.S. president said that they spent 7 trillion dollars in the region but achieved nothing and finally he was forced to visit a military base for a few hours in the dark of night. The whole world acknowledge that the United States has not achieved its goals in Syria and especially in Iraq,”

“The hero of this great work is General Soleimani, which was done during his lifetime,” he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader advised the people and officials to double their efforts to strengthen the country in economic, science, technology and defense sectors, and not to trust the enemy.

Ayatollah Khamenei further stressed the country should focus on neutralizing the sanctions instead of securing their removal, saying, “The lifting of sanctions is in the hands of the enemy, but neutralizing them is in our own hands.”

“Of course, we do not mean that we should not seek to lift the sanctions, because if the sanctions can be lifted, we should not delay that even by an hour,” he explained.

Criticizing Europe’s hypocritical behavior, Ayatollah Khamenei said that three European countries also showed extreme malice and hypocrisy.

He also urged Iranians to preserve national unity, calling on the country’s three branches of power to strengthen national unity through synergy and cooperation.

Referring to the imposed sanctions on Iran, Leader of the Islamic Revolution called on authorities to look for the ways to defuse sanctions rather than the ways to lift them.

“Of course, we are not saying that we should not seek to lift the sanctions. If the sanctions can be lifted, we should not hesitate to do it even for an hour,” he noted.

“If the sanctions can be lifted in a right, wise, Iranian-Islamic and dignified way, it should be done, but the main focus should be on defusing the sanctions,” Leader added.

“I support the officials of the country as long as they adhere to the goals of the nation,” Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted.
