Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with the commanders and officials of the Iranian Armed Forces on Sunday.

He has lauded the great achievements and continuous progress in the Iranian Armed Forces over the years and described as “absolutely necessary” the readiness of the Armed Forces for deterring enemies and their vigilance against the behind-the-scene plotters.

Describing these forces as the strong fences for the country and the nation, he emphasized, “This very big position brings heavy responsibilities that, thank God, the armed forces are busy with fulfilling their duties.”

Referring to the verse of the Holy Quran, Ayatollah Khamenei described constant preparation as a command of God and a source of fear for the enemies of God and the nation, and added, “Threat will never disappear completely, so you should increase your preparations as much as you can.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also considered the readiness of the armed forces for deterring enemies and vigilance against the behind-the-scene planners absolutely necessary.

Referring to the words and possible actions of the weak elements, he said, “We should not focus our minds on such actions and words, but should see the main designers behind the scenes.”

Referring to the war-mongering evil international forces in different regions of the world, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Arrogance starts a conflict from behind the scenes wherever it sees benefits.”

Focusing on the enemy’s long-term plans was another important point that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed.

“It is good and necessary to pay close attention to the enemy’s five- or ten-year plans, but his mid-term and long-term plans should be considered and monitored.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to the two wars that the U.S started in the east and west of Iran about two decades ago and added, “The Americans had interests in Iraq and Afghanistan, but their ultimate goal was the Islamic Republic of Iran, which, due to the very strong foundations of the Islamic revolution, they failed their ultimate goal.”

“Therefore, the enemy with all his seemingly solid calculations and military power can be defeated,” he further pointed out.

He considered the current situation of the Zionist regime as another example of such failures and continued, “The Zionist regime’s anti-Palestinian operation in the month of Ramadan last year did not have a particular reaction in the world, but this year there are demonstrations against its crimes, even in the United States and England.”

Ayatollah Khamenei considered it important not to ignore the enemy, along with believing in his invincibility, and added, “At no stage should one ignore the enemy’s machinations and designs.”

At the end of his speech, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution urged thinkers and planners of the armed forces to constantly and innovatively design strong and rational strategies and policies.

Before the Leader’s speech, Major General Bagheri, the chief of staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, gave a report on the plans and actions of the Armed Forces in various fields.

The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with a group of workers from all over the country in Tehran on Monday.

“Workers stood at the forefront of the fight against the enemies’ plots to disrupt the country’s production and did not allow the conspiracies to materialize. Workers played the pivotal role in this regard,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

He underscored that Iranian workers have made impressive achievements in military, economic, and political spheres, and at least 14,000 laborers sacrificed their lives during Iraq’s war on Iran in the 1980s.

“Among the main policies of arrogant powers since the victory of the Islamic Revolution [in 1979] has been to grind the country’s production to a halt,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Leader also stressed that laborers have aborted fiendish attempts to exploit their demands as a sign of popular protests and have definitively proven their allegiance to the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic establishment.

Earlier this year, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the enemies are waging a war against Iran’s economy in order to bring it to collapse and pit the people against the establishment.

“The country’s stronghold of production and economy is alive; thank God, it is standing. The army that stood against the enemy – the officers of this holy defense – were the entrepreneurs and capable economic managers. Its warriors were also workers. The workers were the sincere and earnest warriors of this battle. You and all economic actors share in this honor of preserving the country’s economy,” the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated his oft-repeated line that officials should not tie the country’s economy to the results of negotiations currently underway in Vienna to remove US sanctions on Iran.

The Leader also described production as a struggle in the path of Allah, which is known as the principle of jihad in Islam.

“The resistance of the producers against the attack on the economy and the enemy’s efforts to prevent the sale of oil and gas and cut foreign exchange resources and against its plans to block Iran’s foreign trade is in fact jihad and one of the greatest acts of worship.”

The enemy’s plans to “conquer the production stronghold” of Iran as part of its economic war on the country have failed, Ayatollah Khamenei added.

The Leader made the remarks in his first meeting with President Raisi and his cabinet team. The meeting took place in National Government Week.

“Diplomacy should not be impacted by the nuclear issue. In the nuclear issue, the U.S. acted extremely shamelessly. They withdrew from the JCPOA but talked as if Iran had withdrawn from it. They ridiculed the negotiations. The Europeans acted like the U.S., too,” the Leader remarked.

“Biden not different from Trump”

Former U.S. President Donald Trump quit the nuclear, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and imposed the harshest sanctions in history against Iran within his “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran. Trump withdrew from the JCPOA despite the fact that the agreement is endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

Through the maximum pressure, the Trump administration was seeking a new nuclear deal in order to impose U.S. dictates on Iran.

Current U.S. President Joe Biden had promised to join the multilateral nuclear pact, however, six rounds of talks, which started in April to revive the agreement, have so far failed to bear a result because the Biden administration is raising new issues.

“The current U.S. government is no different from the previous one. They demand the same things that Trump demanded. Behind the scenes of U.S. foreign policy there lies a predatory wolf that sometimes changes into a cunning fox. Today’s situation in Afghanistan is an example of this,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated.

 We support the nation of Afghanistan

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said the Islamic Republic backs the people of Afghanistan regardless of who is in power.

The remarks by the Leader comes as the Taliban took over Afghanistan on August 16 and President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.

“We support the nation of Afghanistan. Governments come and go. What remains is the Afghan nation. The nature of our relations with governments depends on the nature of their relations with us,” the Leader pointed out.

Ayatollah Khamenei wished peace and prosperity for the Afghan nation, saying,
“May God bring the best situation for the nation of Afghanistan.”

The Leader described Afghanistan as a brotherly country which shares many affinities with the Iranian nation.

“Afghanistan is our brother country, with the same language, religion, and culture,” the Leader noted.

Ayatollah Khamenei also pointed to the agonies of the Afghan people during the 20 years of the U.S. occupation of the Central Asian country, saying, “The source of Afghanistan’s crises is the U.S. During 20 years of occupation, they committed all sorts of atrocities— bombing weddings and mourning ceremonies, imprisonment, and 10 times more drug production.”

According to international bodies, opium cultivation started to increase greatly since the U.S. invaded Afghanistan after the September 11 attacks in 2001.

Leader says diplomacy should serve economy

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said in the new Raisi administration diplomatic efforts should be intensified to consolidate Iran’s economy with the outside world, especially neighbors.

“Diplomatic dynamism should be intensified and economic aspects of diplomacy fortified in the new government… Foreign trade with neighboring countries and other nations should also be bolstered.”

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say that it is possible to increase economic and trade ties with most countries around the world.

“Except for a couple of countries, friendly ties are possible with most countries,” the Leader insisted.

“Do not let time be wasted” 

The Leader also called on the Raisi administration to use its time in office to serve the people to the best of its ability and improve their livelihoods.

“I had a recommendation to all the officials in different periods, I also offer you this recommendation; time passes quickly. These four years will end soon, so use every hour, every opportunity. Do not let time be wasted when it belongs to the people and to Islam,” he said, according to Press TV.

The new government, Ayatollah Khamenei said, should focus its efforts on initiating a “revolutionary but rational and thoughtful reconstruction in all managerial fields”.
“Being revolutionary must certainly be accompanied by rationality. This has been the correct way of the Islamic Republic from the very beginning until today, requiring that the revolutionary movement should be accompanied by an intellectual and rational movement.”

”Economy is main priority”

The Leader said the most important priority of the country is primarily the economy and then culture, media and science.

“Of course, there is an urgent issue, which is the coronavirus and the health of the people,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.

One of the essentials, the Leader said, is smart quarantine and serious care at borders in order to prevent the entry of new strains of the disease.

As for the economy, the main problems of the country are high inflation, budget deficit, people’s livelihood issues, devaluation of the national currency, reduction of people’s purchasing power, and issues related to business climate and banking system, he stated.
“Economic experts believe that money creation should be done in proportion to production, and if this ratio does not exist, money creation should be stopped, which, if done correctly, will result in preventing inflation, boosting production and employment, and strengthening the national currency.”

President Raeisi has said he has chosen a cabinet to improve economy and fight corruption. One of his key slogans in the presidential campaigns was to form a “popular government”.

Two days after the formation of his cabinet, Raisi paid an unannounced visit to Khuzestan province.  Raisi’s cabinet held its first session on Thursday. It took place one day after 18 out of his 19 proposed ministers were given vote of confidence by the parliament.

“One of the manifestations of being popular is going among the people and hearing directly from the people. This very good and commendable move that Mr. Raeisi made yesterday, when he went to Khuzestan among the people, heard from them, talked to them, is a manifestation of being popular, which is a very good thing,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Another manifestation, the Leader said, is the lifestyle which state officials choose, enjoining the new administration to practice “modesty in manners and character and avoid aristocratic styles and looking down at people from a high position”.

“We are lagging and have to work hard”

Ayatollah Khamenei also said the basis of the Islamic government and the Islamic Republic is the establishment of justice, but a lot of work has to be done in this regard.

“We have a lot of work to do in these areas. We are lagging and have to work hard.”

In his Saturday remarks, the Leader said it is very important to restore the people’s trust and hope because people’s trust is the biggest asset of the government.

“People will help you and walk the walk with you when they trust you and have hope in you. This is the biggest asset for a government if it can gain the trust of the people, which, of course, is, unfortunately, a bit damaged. You have to repair this, and the solution is for the words and actions of the officials to be the same.”

Members of the Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group are walking free in France and other European countries, Ayatollah Khamenei said on Monday, addressing a meeting with the chief and officials of Iran’s Judiciary.

“The French government and others shamelessly preach human rights despite hosting these killers, supporting them, and even giving them the podium in their national parliaments,” the Leader said. “That is to say, the brazenness of these Westerners is really an extraordinary and strange thing.”

The Leader also commemorated Ayatollah Mohammad Beheshti, the head of Supreme Judicial Council of the time, who was assassinated in a bombing carried out by the MKO in Tehran on June 28, 1981.

He said the MKO committed a great crime against the Iranian nation by assassinating “this prominent figure” along with 70 other Iranian figures on this day forty years ago.

Ayatollah Khamenei also thanked Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raisi for bringing about a great change to the Judiciary since he assumed office more than two years ago.

“In these two years and a few months that he was in charge of the Judiciary, he really worked hard, he strove, and good things were achieved in the Judiciary,” the Leader said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei hailed the June 18 presidential election as “truly an epic”, saying no one can take the magnificence of the election away from the country.

“Where in the world is it common to see that all members of the opposition propaganda apparatus get actively involved to scare people away from voting in the election,” the Leader said.

“Attempts are still made – they (the opposition) write letters and speak via the cyberspace – to deny the greatness of this election, but to no avail,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“This effort is in vain. Analysts who had their eyes fixed on this election understand what has happened.”

Anti-Iran groups led a campaign of intimidation and bullying to force potential voters not to participate in the election. Nonetheless, nearly 49% of the eligible voters turned out to cast their ballots in an election that Raisi won with over 18 million or 72% of the votes.

Drawing a comparison between Iran’s election and the 2020 presidential election in the US, Ayatollah Khamenei said the Americans are not a role model to follow when it comes to political issues.

“One must speak with courtesy and observance of ethical and religious dimensions, without insulting and slandering, rather than using the cursing and insulting methods of the Americans and [former U.S. President Donald] Trump,” he said.

The Leader noted that the U.S. presidential election became a scandal in the eyes of the world people, adding American rulers have ironically begun to criticize Iran’s election only a few months after having a scandalous election themselves.

Ayatollah Khamenei praised the Iranian candidates who lost in the election for their decorum and warm congratulatory messages to the president-elect.

The real winners of the election, the Leader said, are the Iranian people and all those who helped bring excitement to the polls.

“Therefore, the candidates who didn’t secure votes are among the winners as well, and on the contrary, the losers of the election are those who put all their efforts to drive the people away from the ballot box, but the people, with their presence, rejected them and dashed their hopes.”

Ayatollah Khamenei delivered a live televised speech to the nation on Friday (June 4) marking the anniversary of the passing away of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

The Leader said Imam Khomeini viewed elections as a “manifestation of people’s will” and participation in elections as “a religious duty.”

Ayatollah Khamenei warned against attempts by enemies, as well as certain sides at home, to frustrate people and lower the turnout in the presidential election, which is slotted for June 18.

It is said that some are doubtful about going to the ballot box out of dissatisfaction with the country’s economic hardships and livelihood problems, while others say they voted with enthusiasm in earlier elections, but they later grew frustrated after being failed by those whom they voted for, Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“That reasoning is not right” and should not dissuade people from voting, said the Leader, adding that any managerial shortcomings and inefficiencies could be made up for “through making the right and good choice.”

“What would be the solution if there is any weakness in [the country’s] management? Standing aside? Or choosing [instead] a popular and Islamic management in the true sense of the word?” the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei further advised voters not to trust mere words and pledges on the part of the presidential candidates, saying, “It is action that counts.”

“The individual’s previous record should be examined to see [if that person] had taken any action that would support his pledge [today],” the Leader said.

The Leader called on all Iranians, from all walks of life, to not just go to the ballot box but also encourage others to do the same.

Ayatollah Khamenei also had a few words with the seven candidates gearing up to contest the forthcoming presidential race.

First, said the Leader, the candidates should avoid making pledges that they are not sure they can fulfill if they win the election, warning that such pledges “would be to the detriment of the country.”

Second, the Leader said, the candidates should be honest in their slogans and refrain from the ones that they don’t believe in.

Third, the candidates should be determined to commit themselves to establishing social justice, fighting corruption, and boosting domestic production, if they win, Ayatollah Khamenei added.

On the Vienna talks, Ayatollah Khamenei also said that that Tehran wanted action and not promises from six world powers for the revival of their 2015 nuclear deal.

“I have told our negotiators that actions, not promises (by the six powers), are needed for the restoration of the nuclear deal,” Khamenei said in a televised speech most notable for his comments about the upcoming controversial presidential poll.

The Supreme of the Islamic Revolution went on to say Iran is stronger than ever as the country marks the 32nd anniversary of the passing away of its revolutionary founder Imam Khomeini.

“I start the discussion from here that among the revolutionary systems and establishments that have been formed in the last one or two centuries, I do not know of any system as much as the Islamic Republic that has been predicted to collapse,” the Leader said.

“From the first day of the revolution, the ill-wishers and those who could not digest and tolerate this great phenomenon, both inside and outside the country, said that the Islamic Republic would not last for another two months, six months or a year,” the Leader said.

“It was one or two years ago when the esteemed Americans said the same thing and a high-ranking American official stated that the Islamic Republic would not see its 40th anniversary. I do not remember so many predictions of decay and collapse to have been made about any other system,” he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei was apparently referring to former U.S. national security advisor John Bolton’s infamous prediction while addressing a terrorist MKO convention in Paris in 2017.

At the conference Bolton said, “The outcome of the president’s policy review should be to determine that the Ayatollah Khomeini’s 1979 revolution will not last until its 40th birthday. And that’s why, before 2019, we here will celebrate in Tehran.”

“But, thank God, the revolution and the system of Imam Khomeini not only did not collapse and did not stop, but became stronger day by day,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“It did not surrender, did not give up and rather showed its independence day by day. It achieved great success and overcame obstacles.”

The Leader said despite many successive political, security, economic obstacles created for Iran, “the Islamic Republic today is more developed than 40 years ago and is ahead in all respects by the grace of God.”

“The question arises, what is the secret of this permanence? Why did the Islamic Republic not face the fate of other revolutions in spite of all this hostility? Here I announce that the glorious and proud secret of this system is two words: the Republic and Islam. The existence created from these two words has every right to remain permanent, because it includes both people and Islam.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said Imam Khomeini’s outstanding initiative was that he created and introduced the idea of the Islamic Republic and then realized it.

“The great work of our esteemed Imam was to create this idea and theory of the Islamic Republic and to introduce it into the field of various political theories, in which there were various Eastern and Western political theories,” the Leader said, adding Imam Khomeini then took action and put his theory into practice.

“The Imam had many initiatives but the Islamic Republic is the most important initiative of the Imam,” the Leader said. “This is the same religious democracy that was recognized as the Islamic Republic.”

Addressing the youth, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “You, the youth, who have not experienced the pre-Revolution era, it is hard for you to feel that era.”

He recollected that people played no role at all in their destiny, especially during the dark tyranny of the Pahlavi dynasty.

“The Imam brought the people to the field with a leaping movement. The nation believed in itself and the Imam used the great capacity of the nation’s ability and will, and with his leadership and guidance, he was able to take it to a stage where he could do great things,” he added.

There was a time, the Leader continued, when the Islamic Republic was a sapling, and now it is a robust tree which cannot be uprooted by any storm.

The first reply was sent to Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh while the second one was sent to Islamic Jihad Secretary-General Ziad al-Nakhala. The two political leaders have sent letters to Ayatollah Khamenei in the wake of the 12-day war on the Gaza Strip.

“I received your letter in which you wrote with detail and analysis about the recent Palestinian jihad. Your struggle is resistance against oppression, heresy and arrogance. Such a struggle pleases the Almighty, Revered God and is the proof of ‘O you who have faith! If you help Allah, He will help you and make your feet steady,’” the Leader wrote to Haniyeh, citing verse 7 of the 47th chapter of the Holy Qur’an.

The Leader added, “You will be victorious by the power of God and cleanse the holy land from the filth of the usurpers, God willing.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also sent a reply to al-Nakhala in which he praised the struggle of the Palestinian people against Israel.

“I received your brotherly letter. The great and victorious jihad of you Palestinian brothers lit up the eyes of your lovers all over the world. Our hearts are with you at the scene of your struggles and our prayers for the continuation of your victories are constant. The divine promise is true when he said: ‘Allah will surely help those who help Him’, and you will see the ultimate victory with the strength and might of God, God willing,” the Leader said, citing verse 40 of the 22nd chapter of the Holy Qur’an.

Following the end of the Israeli war on Gaza, al-Nakhala and Haniyeh sent letters of appreciation to Ayatollah Khamenei.

“Your continuous, uninterrupted, clear support in all areas has played the greatest, most considerable role in the Sayf (Sword) of al-Quds Operation and its achievements. The Resistance fighters entered the battlefield with all their strength, bravery, and valiant efforts despite the military advantage of the enemy. The resistance and victory of the Palestinian nation would not have been possible without God’s help and approval. God’s help caused the meager facilities to become powerful and made those who feared that the enemy may remove them from the earth look great and powerful in the eyes of the enemy,” al-Nakhala said in his message. “The Palestinian nation and Resistance inflicted a resounding defeat upon the enemy in a performance that pleased all the believers in the world and showed that the Zionist regime is frailer than a spider’s home.”

In his letter to Ayatollah Khamenei, Haniyeh said, “We demand immediate action in taking a decisive stance regarding these crimes and serious attempts in mobilizing Arab, Islamic and international support in order to force the Zionist enemy to stop its brutal crimes against the Palestinian nation, lands and sanctities in occupied Quds and particularly the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

He demanded that terrorist actions against Gaza and aggressive actions against Quds and the Al-Aqsa Mosque be stopped. Haniyeh also called for a cessation of Judaization policies pursued by Israel in the Palestinian territories.

Iranian ralliers say Palestinians will respond to Israeli weapons with rockets and not stones. However, they say awareness raising campaigns like such demonstrations act as a powerful weapon by letting the world know about the Israeli atrocities and crimes against Palestinians.

As Israel was forced to accept a ceasefire Palestinians believe that resistance is still the only way to put an end to Israeli violation of Palestinian rights and its atrocities in the occupied lands.

The chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces congratulated the Palestinian people over their victory against the Israeli regime, saying the life of the occupying Israeli regime is in the hands of Palestinian fighters.

In a message on Saturday, Major General Mohammad Baqeri said the latest asymmetrical battle between the oppressive Zionist regime and Palestine was a manifestation of the regime’s defeats against Palestinians and a promising event foreshadowing the final victory of Palestine.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called on Muslim governments to provide military and financial support for Palestine and help the country rebuild the infrastructure destroyed during the recent clashes with Israel.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a Friday congratulatory message on the “victory of the resistant Palestinian nation against the Zionist regime” of Israel.

The Leader said the Islamic world is religiously responsible towards the Palestine issue.

“Muslim governments must honestly step into supporting Palestine and provide military and financial support (which is needed more than ever) and help them rebuild the infrastructure and damages,” the Leader noted.

The savage and wolfish enemy correctly understood it is weak against Palestine’s rise, the Leader said in his message.

He pointed to the cooperation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem with Gaza Strip, and described it as a test that made Palestine’s future roadmap clear.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Israeli regime committed big crimes in Gaza Strip and proved that it can show shameful and insane behaviors, so much so that unite the entire world against itself.

The recent resistance and fightback showed us that the Zionists are vulnerable despite claiming they have the best defensive wall against missile attacks.

Palestinians showed the world that Israel just understands the language of force and nothing more, and efforts for talks and compromise are in vain because the Zionists are fully supported by the world hegemony and especially the West and the U.S.

As the Supreme Leader has said, Muslims in the world should support Palestinians to help them overcome their enemy No.1, Israel. Palestinians taught a lesson to the Zionists that the era of the hit- and-run has come to its end and if they decide to attack, they will face appropriate response.

In reaction to these horrible Zionists’ crimes, U.S. President Joe Biden said there is “no shift” in his commitment to the security of Israel and reiterated his support for the Tel Aviv regime, following the 11-day Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.

Therefore, Palestinians should not wait for any assistance from the West regarding their struggle to liberate Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Zionists’ claws as the victory is approaching, and only unity among the Muslim world and their support from the Palestinians can accelerate the liberation of the holy Al-Aqsa.

As Iranian senior officials have reiterated, the collapse of the Zionists is imminent but it needs a whole-hearted resistance from the Muslim world for liberating the Palestine.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a Friday congratulatory message on the “victory of the resistant Palestinian nation against the Zionist regime” of Israel.

The Leader said the Islamic world is religiously responsible towards the Palestine issue.

“Muslim governments must honestly step into supporting Palestine and provide military and financial support (which is needed more than ever) and help them rebuild the infrastructure and damages,” the Leader noted.

The savage and wolfish enemy correctly understood it is weak against Palestine’s rise, the Leader said in his message.

He pointed to the cooperation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem with Gaza Strip, and described it as a test that made Palestine’s future roadmap clear.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Israeli regime committed big crimes in Gaza Strip and proved that it can show shameful and insane behaviors, so much so that unite the entire world against itself.

He said both the continuation of those crimes and asking for a ceasefire was considered a failure for Israel, and Tel Aviv was finally forced into conceding defeat.

The Leader also vowed that Palestine will become stronger every day while Israel will get weaker than this.

He said the time to begin and stop clashes depends on the decision of Palestinian leaders, but getting prepared for powerful struggle will never stop.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the “Sheikh Jarrah” neighborhood’s experience of resisting the Israeli settlers and the Tel Aviv regime, saying that the experience must turn into a permanent instruction for Palestinians.

He also stressed that the Israeli crimes must be prosecuted and legally pursued at the international level, saying that all elements involved in the recent atrocities, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, must be tried at the international courts.

Haniyeh described the brutal crimes of the Zionist occupiers against Al-Quds, the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, Al-Aqsa Mosque, Gaza and the 1948 occupied territories, according to the Palestinian Information Center.

In the letter, Haniyeh stated that due to the escalation of the aggression and crimes of the occupying regime against the Palestinian people and sanctities, “we established extensive contacts with various parties and asked them to prevent the advancement of the enemy’s crimes and sinister goals and warned that these crimes will certainly not go unanswered by the Palestinian people and Resistance.”

He stated that the insistence of the criminal leaders of the Zionist regime on continuing their aggression against the nation, the land and the sanctities of Palestine, required a decisive and legitimate response by the Resistance in the Gaza Strip.

Haniyeh noted that today the criminal enemy, with the deadliest internationally banned weapons, commits the most barbaric crimes against the people of Gaza around the clock, as well as the most heinous crimes against the demonstrators in al-Quds (Jerusalem), the West Bank and the 1948 occupied territories.

Haniyeh pointed out that in the face of these incessant crimes, “we call for immediate action and mobilization of Islamic, Arab and international positions in order to take decisive positions and force the Zionist enemy to stop its crimes against the besieged people of Gaza, to stop any aggression against the residents of Jerusalem and its sanctities, and to put an end to any aggression against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinian worshipers inside it.”

This was the second letter sent by the chief of Hamas Political Bureau to the Leader in about ten days.

Haniyeh also spoke by phone with the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at the start of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. He briefed the Iranian foreign minister on the latest situation in the occupied territories and the usurping Zionist regime’s attacks against Palestinians as well as the Palestinian people who are resisting with all their power.

During the phone call, Haniyeh also asked Foreign Minister Zarif for Iran’s support for the Palestinian people’s resistance.

The Iranian foreign minister, in turn, reaffirmed Iran’s solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine, and condemned the usurping and brutish Zionist regime’s measures against the fasting people of Palestine as well as its attack against Al-Aqsa Mosque and martyring and wounding defenseless worshippers.

Zarif reiterated Iran’s all-out support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause.

He also briefed Haniyeh on his consultations with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on supporting the Palestinian people’s resistance at the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

A few hours earlier, Zarif had spoken with his Turkish counterpart about the latest status of the Holy Quds and the developments in the occupied territories.

The OIC held a virtual emergency meeting of foreign ministers on Sunday. During the meeting, Zarif said, “We witness the most heinous crimes being perpetrated against our brothers and sisters by Zionist forces in occupied Palestine.”

Zarif noted, “Innocent men, women and children are being massacred by the deadliest and most sophisticated weapons. Homes are being demolished while their residents are trapped inside. Whatever remains of the infrastructure in Gaza—including power and water supply—is effectively destroyed. We are facing blatant and systematic violations of human rights, humanitarian law and international law.”

He added, “The massacre of Palestinian children today follows the purported ‘normalization.’ This criminal and genocidal regime has once again proven that friendly gestures only aggravate its atrocities. The sole aim of Israel’s hypocritical gestures is to divide Muslims and isolate the people of Palestine. Make no mistake: Israel only understands the language of resistance and the people of Palestine are fully entitled to the right to defend themselves and to defy the bullying of this racist regime. These barbaric acts have proven once again that the only peaceful path to peace in Palestine is the holding of a referendum among all residents of Palestine, including displaced Palestinians and refugees.”

The chief Iranian diplomat also said that the Palestinian question is not only an Arab or Islamic issue, but also an international dilemma. He said the international community has a duty to stop the Israeli atrocities.

“It must not be forgotten that Palestine is not only an Arab or Islamic issue, but also an international dilemma. The crimes committed against the innocent Palestinian people over decades weigh heavy on the conscience of humanity. The international community, therefore, has a duty to condemn the Israeli regime in the strongest terms and compel it to end the destruction and siege of Gaza,” the foreign minister pointed out.
