Khalili, the star of Iranian TV series such as “Mokhtarnameh” and “The Pahlavi Hat” and acclaimed movie “Wishbone”, died of pancreatic cancer in August 2020 in London. She was 44.

Khalili had a degree in architecture from Oxford University and completed courses at Method Acting, a college school in London that provides acting classes and lessons.

She was a grandchild of veteran actress Parvin Solemani and made her debut with Iraj Qaderi’s drama “Black Eyes” in 2000.

“Havana File” by Alireza Raisian, “Trap” by Sirus Alvand and “Mask” by Kazem Rastgoftar are some of the movies in which Khalili starred.

However, she did some of her best work in the TV series “In the Eye of the Wind” by Masud Jafari Jozani and “The Pahlavi Hat” by Ziaeddin Dorri, both of which chronicle part of contemporary Iranian history.

Khalili produced her masterpiece in “Mokhtarnameh”, director Davud Mirbaqeri’s TV series about an uprising organized by Mokhtar Saqafi after the events of Ashura, the 10th of Muharram, to take revenge against the killers of Imam Hussein (AS). She portrayed Jarieh, Mokhtar’s sister in the blockbuster.

Director Ali Atshani’s 2017 acclaimed drama “Wishbone” features one of her last appearances in the film industry.

Khalili who held dual citizenship in Tehran and London gave birth to her only son, Parvaz, in Iran to let him have Iranian nationality.

“I wanted my son to be born in Iran. I wanted him to have an Iranian identity card and passport. This was very important for me, because I had lived far from Iran for twenty years, but I always wished to live in Iran, and I have always considered myself an Iranian,” Khalili had earlier said on Dorehami, an Iranian TV talk show hosted by director and actor Mehran Modiri.

Khalili was buried in a cemetery in London.

However, Ivankovic says that Beiranvand has been the best Asian player in the current year, AFC Player of the Year can be the other.

“First, I would like to congratulate him for being among the top three players. He showed that he has had good performance in football and achieved success,” the Croat said.

“I think Beiranvand had to win the award because he played well in Persepolis and Iran national football team,” Ivankovic added.

Ivankovic has been nominated to replace Marc Wilmots as Iran’s national football team head coach.

Earlier, Pateadores Club coach Shayan Jahangiri believed that Iran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand has the potential to play in the big European clubs.

“I was at the stadium when Alireza Beiranvand saved Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty in Russia. It was the best moment in my career. I think he has the potential to play in big European teams,” Jahangiri said.

“Our country has so many talented players and is comparable to Brazil but there are some problems in finding the talents, however, we see positive movements in the recent years,” he added.

“Asghar Farhadi has undeniably meant a lot to a new generation of Iranian filmmakers, as well as for film lovers across the world. It is therefore a great honor to present the 2018 Stockholm Visionary Award to Asghar Farhadi.”

Farhadi will be at the Stockholm International Film Festival, which will held from November 7 to 18, to promote his latest film “Everybody Knows” and to accept the Bronze Horse, world’s heaviest film prize that weighs 7.3 kilos.

He will also attend a review session on November 9 for his movie starring Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem.

Earlier recipients of the Stockholm Visionary Award include Pablo Larraín, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Yorgos Lanthimos and Wes Anderson.

 Iranian kamancheh virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor was announced the winner of ‘Isaac Stern Human Spirit’ award.

The ceremony was attended by Hamid Forutan, the director of the Iranian Photojournalists Association, which is the organizer of the photo awards.

The award in the multimedia section was presented to Abolfazl Nesai.

Mehdi Pedramkhu received the award in the environment section for a collection and Mojtaba Esmaeilzadeh won the award for in the category for a single photo.

In the portrait section, Asghar Khamseh received the award for a collection and Meqdad Madadi won the award for a single portrait.

In the sports category, the award for a collection went to Arya Jafari and the award for single photo was handed to Javid Nikpur.

Jafari dedicated his award to the Iranian female football players and their fans who seriously follow their careers.

Sahar Felgari got the award for a social documentary photo collection and the single social documentary photo award was given to Somayyeh Farzi.

Hossein Velayati received the award for the press photo collection and Yalda Moayyeri won the single press photo award.

In her brief remarks, Moayyeri said, “The problems of female photographers in our country are increasing day by day. The situation is complicated. I am unemployed. Perhaps some don’t like to talk about it, but I must say that I am not alone. I symbolically dedicate my award to the society of Iranian female photographers.”

Mahmud Kalari, Seifollah Samadian, Nader Davudi, Peyman Hushmandzadeh and Reza Moattarian were the members of the jury for the Iran Press Photo Awards.

The short fiction ‘Gaze’ by filmmaker Farnoosh Samadi has won the Audience Award at the 36th Uppsala International Short Film Festival, October 23-29, in Sweden.
The 15-minute film is about a woman who witnesses something happening in a bus on her way back from work. She has to decide whether to reveal it or not, according to the website of the festival.
‘Gaze’ participated in the festival along with over 300 short films from other countries, ranging from fiction and experimental films to documentaries and animations.
Samadi graduated from The Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. She co-wrote three short films with Iranian scriptwriter and film director Ali Asgari: ‘More Than Two Hours’ (2013), ‘The Baby’ (2014) and ‘The Pain’ (2015). She also co-directed with him ‘The Silence,’ which premiered in Cannes in 2016. ‘Gaze’ is her second short as director.
The other short film from Iran participating at the event was ‘Animal’ by brothers Bahram and Bahman Ark. Depicting the indignities of migration, the 15-minute film shows a man who tries to cross a border in the guise of a ram.
The Swedish festival took place in Uppsala, near Stockholm, at four cinemas located in the city’s classic cinema district.

The awards ceremony was held on Tuesday at the museum, where several other researchers also were honored, the organizers announced.

The awards have been established by the Cinema Organization of Iran (COI) to honor top research centers, works, articles and theses on cinema.

Zeinab Qazizadeh-Hashemi was honored in the final thesis section, while in the articles section Mohsen Aqai received an award.

In the independent research work section, Mohsen Alavipur and Davud Zameni were honored.

In addition, the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance was honored in the institutes section.
