“After 40 years [since the Islamic Revolution], no one and no country, even those who claim to be superpowers, dare to invade Iran and even think about it,” Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi said.

He said the enemies wish to partition Iran, cause insecurity and destruction, disrupt economy and production and hinder the country’s scientific and technological progress but they will never achieve their “vicious goals”.

He noted that the enemies did everything they could during the recent riots that hit Iran, planning and organizing them and providing intelligence and financial services to rioters.

“Separatist groups and Persian-language satellite networks and messengers and the like are also directly involved and responsible for field command,” Mousavi said, stressing the importance of remaining vigilant.

Riots broke out in Iran in mid-September after the death of a young Iranian woman, Mahsa Amini. The 22-year-old fainted at a police station in Tehran and was pronounced dead three days later in hospital.

An official report by Iran’s Legal Medicine Organization concluded that Amini’s death was caused by illness rather than alleged blows to the head or other vital body organs.

In the meantime, rioters went on rampage across the country, brutally attacking security officers and causing massive damage to public property as Western powers, especially the United States, provided support.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian commander reminded that the Americans had admitted more than 10 years ago to have resorted to smart phones and applications to obtain their goals in Iran.

“They themselves said that millions of internet users were their soldiers. We should be vigilant,” he said.

Mousavi pointed to the country’s achievements in defense industry, particularly the recent inauguration of the production line of the long-range Sayad B4 missile, and said only few countries have such a combination of technologies.

He said the Iranian nation should become aware of the country’s advancements and the path towards independence, stating that the enemies are fearful of Iran’s power and capabilities.

Iran’s Defense Ministry on Sunday unveiled the upgraded version of the domestically-designed and manufactured Bavar-373 (Belief-373) surface-to-air missile system, and inaugurated the production line of long-range Sayad B4 missile.

The state-run Bakhtar news agency said the attack had killed 46 people and wounded 143. However, two health officials told Reuters the death toll could be between 70 and 80.

Responsibility for the blast in Kunduz, the capital of the province of the same name in the northeast of the country, was claimed by the Islamic State’s local affiliate, Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), which has a long history of attacking Afghanistan’s Shia minority. Shias make up about 15-20% of the Afghan population.

Raisi said this crime was “committed by those whose anti-human and anti-religious nature is obvious to everyone.”

In a statement on Friday, Zodiac Maritime, the Israeli-owned firm managing the oil tanker, claimed that two crewmen, a Briton and a Romanian, had been killed in the assault. In recent months, several other Israeli ships have come under apparent attacks on various maritime routes across the world.

Informed sources have told Al-Alam television that an attack on an Israeli-managed petroleum products tanker off the coast of Oman in the Arabian Sea that killed two crew members was in response to an Israeli missile attack on Syria that killed two resistance forces.

The Mercer Street, a Liberian-flagged, Japanese-owned ship, came under attack about 152 nautical miles (280 km) northeast of the Omani port of Duqm on Thursday, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which provides maritime security information.

For many years Israelis used to commit crimes against Palestinians and Muslims in the Middle East without facing an appropriate response but it seems the era of hit-and-run has come to an end and Israeli from now on have to witness proper response to any attack or atrocities of them.

A political commentator on Saturday reacted to the retaliatory attack on an Israeli-managed petroleum products tanker off the coast of Oman in the Arabian Sea, stressing that the resistance front will not allow the Tel Aviv regime to commit crimes with impunity.

“The Axis of Resistance won’t permit Israelis to commit any crimes without retaliation, whether from Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Iran or elsewhere. They (Israeli officials) have to understand that resistance forces can reach them anywhere,” Beirut-based Mohsen Saleh said.

He underlined that the Israeli regime is engaged in a campaign doomed to failure against the resistance bloc, describing Israeli attacks on Syrian territory and the Iraqi-Syrian border as well as assassination attempts against Iranians as desperate attempts.

Saleh went on to say that the balance of power is tipped in favor of the resistance front.

“They have to re-calculate their existence or hostilities against resistance groups and factions, whether in Lebanon, Syria or Iraq. All these groups are really willing to counterattack or retaliate against Israel’s acts of aggression,” he pointed out.

By the way the Israelis as usual have accused Iran of this attack and they are not ready to accept this fact that Resistance has awakened in the Muslim states and Muslims will not let the Zionist go unpunished for their atrocities.

The analyst stressed that Israeli authorities have realized that their attacks, normalization agreements with some Arab countries, besides support from the United States and certain European countries, would not be beneficial as resistance fighters can target them anywhere.

Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post published articles on Iran’s growing drone power in the wake of a sophisticated attack on an Israeli-managed petroleum product tanker off the coast of Oman.

Israeli foreign minister Yair Lapid pointed the finger at Iran after the Liberian-flagged Mercer Street, which was travelling from Tanzania to the UAE, was hit near the Omani island of Masirah. Citing two unnamed officials, The New York Times claimed that the raid, which killed two crew members, “appeared to have been carried out by several unmanned Iranian drones that crashed into living quarters underneath the ship’s command center, or bridge.”

The attack was a small sample of reactions that the Axis of Resistance can do against atrocities of the Zionists and the West and it was a warning to Israeli regime that if they continue their crimes they will not be safe in any part of the world and they will get the proper response.

The international bodies should not also fall into the trap of the Zionists for blindly support of them and this is the nations’ rights to have appropriate response to Israeli attacks when the world bodies cannot stop them from committing crimes. The oil tanker, Mercer Street, which is managed by Israeli shipping magnate Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac Maritime, was traveling from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to the United Arab Emirates port of Fujairah. The Israeli-owned UK ship was attacked by what American sources say a drone in the north of the Sea of Oman. The Israeli company said two crewmen, a British and Romanian national, died in the attack.

“With profound sadness, we understand the incident onboard the M/T Mercer Street on 29 July, 2021 has resulted in the deaths of two crew members on board,” Zodiac Maritime said in a statement on Friday afternoon, a day after the attack.

No country claimed responsibility for the attack but the Iranian news channel Al-Alam said the attack came in retaliation for an earlier Israeli strike against the al-Dhaba’a airport in the Syrian city of al-Qusayr which killed two men from the Resistance.

Citing informed sources in the Resistance, Al-Alam said the attack on Mercer Street was in response to the al-Dhaba’a strike. Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, Al-Alam, citing Resistance sources, said the attack on the Israeli ship off the coast of Oman was carried out by resistance groups in response to the Tel Aviv attack on Syria’s al-Dhaba’a airport. “This announcement seems to have come to confirm in practice that the axis of resistance is greater than geography, and that the front of this axis is one front, as is the front of America, Israel and the Arab backwardness, headed by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, one front,” the Iranian broadcaster commented on its scoop.

Reuters quoted Western intelligence sources as saying that the main suspect in the attack is Tehran, but the same sources stressed that governments are still seeking compelling evidence; The U.S. State Department expressed its alarm over the incident, and confirmed Washington’s work with its international partners to find out the circumstances, and that it is closely monitoring the situation.

In Israel, there was no unified reaction to the attack. First, Israeli media sought to downplay the incident but as the story developed, they highlighted the Israeli allegations against Iran, though it did not claim responsibility for the attack.

An Israeli security official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity that Israel believes Iran was behind the attack on the ship, citing similar attacks in the past.

Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid put the blame on Iran for the incident. “Iran is not just an Israeli problem, but an exporter of terrorism, destruction and instability that harms us all. The world must not be silent in the face of Iranian terrorism that also harms freedom of shipping,” he claimed in a statement without providing any evidence to support his claim.

Israeli news website Ynet said the assessment in Israel was that there were two attacks on the ship, spaced several hours apart. The first caused no damage, and the second hit the bridge, causing the casualties. It quoted an unnamed Israeli official as saying “Israel will find it hard to turn a blind eye” to the attack. according to Reuters.

Another Israeli news website DEBKAfile which is known for its close ties with Israel’s intelligence community claimed that the Israeli vessel was attacked by an “Iranian kamikaze drone,” something that took place for the first time. All previous alleged cases of Iran’s attacks on Israeli vessels involved allegations that Iran used other means to mount an attack.

DEBKAfile reported that what happened in the Sea of Oman marked the “first direct armed drone attack on an Israeli merchant vessel.”

According to the Israeli news website, Israel’s Defense Minister Benny Gantz called an urgent conference on Friday night with Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi and other senior commanders, following which Gantz announced that Israel would make an “appropriate response” to the attack.

Azem Bermendao Agouna, a spokesman for Chad’s military, said on Saturday that the forces had bombarded northern rebels “to the verge of despair,” and ruled out the possibility of their assault to seize the capital following Deby’s death due to battlefield injuries.

“The rebellion does not even exist, it is annihilated,” he added.

The rebels, known as the Front for Change and Concord in Chad (FACT), crossed over the border from northern neighbor Libya on April 11 in their thousands and advanced within 200 kilometers of the capital before a pushback from the Chadian military.

The Chadian president was declared dead on Monday after suffering injuries in his long-time fight against militants. His death came just a day after he won an election to extend his 30-year rule. He was one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.

Deby, who came to power in a rebellion in 1990, took about 80 percent of the vote in the April 11 election, which was boycotted by opposition.

A military council headed by Deby’s son, Mahamat Idriss Deby, took power after his death, saying it intended to oversee an 18-month transition to elections. Opposition politicians and civil society have denounced the takeover as a coup and on Saturday called for organized protests.

Calling it a “monarchy,” FACT rejected the military transition and announced on the same day that the rebels were “preparing to advance” on N’Djamena, without giving more details.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a FACT spokesman confirmed the Chadian military’s report of deterrent attacks on Saturday and said the air force had been bombing their position “morning and evening” since Thursday.

The spokesman also said that French armed forces had supported the Chadian raids with aerial surveillance.

Macron pledges French support for Chad

France’s President Emmanuel Macron, who sat next to Deby’s son at the funeral on Friday, pledged to defend Chad — a former French colony — and called for a transition to democracy.

“France will not let anybody put into question or threaten today or tomorrow Chad’s stability and integrity,” Macron said in his speech.

“France will also be there to keep alive without waiting the promise of a peaceful Chad creating a place for all of its children and components,” he said, calling the late president a friend and courageous soldier who had devoted his life to his country.

A source at the French presidency said France and regional countries were pushing for a mixed civilian-military transitional government in Chad.

In the past years, terrorist attacks by regional militant groups have been a source of insecurity in Chad, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, and neighboring African countries.

Thousands of people have been killed and millions more displaced by the violence, according to the United Nations.

France has been leading what it alleges as a counter-terrorism mission across the Sahel region, a semi-arid stretch of land south of Africa’s Sahara desert.

Terrorist groups, linked to al-Qaeda and Daesh, have strengthened their foothold across the Sahel region, making large swathes of territory ungovernable and stoking local ethnic violence.

Last year, France boosted its troop deployment for its so-called Operation Barkhane in the Sahel by 600 to 5,100 soldiers.

According to al Jazeera, Officer William “Billy” Evans succumbed to his injuries, according to acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman. The second officer remained hospitalized.
“We are devastated to share the sad news that one of our officers involved in this afternoon’s incident passed away,” the Capitol Police said in a statement. Evans, a Police officer since 2003, died at a hospital from injuries sustained in the attack.

Most of the 535 members of Congress were away on recess when the attack happened. National Guard soldiers and police with riot shields responded to the incident which caused a two-hour lockdown for thousands of congressional staff working at the Capitol complex.

“I personally believe that the Capitol Police need reinforcements right away and we should do everything in our powers to add the personnel that they require,” said Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi in an interview with the MSNBC news outlet.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement there would be “a swift and comprehensive investigation into this heinous attack” and praised the “heroism” of the police officers.
Sensitivities are high following the January 6 attack on the Capitol by a mob of supporters of former President Donald Trump. Protesters seeking to disrupt Congress’s certification of President Joe Biden’s 2020 election overran police checkpoints and invaded the Capitol building.

Police Officer Brian Sicknick officer died and a female protester was shot by a police officer. Three other protesters died from health incidents during the riot and two Capitol Police officers later committed suicide.

Congress called in the National Guard to defend the Capitol grounds and erected a non-scalable fence topped with razor wire around the building which in normal times is open to the public and visited by thousands of tourists.
