Iran thrashes China 3-0 at 2019 Asian Volleyball C’ship

The Iranian volleyball team began the second stage of the 2019 Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship with a decisive victory over China.

The Iranian players thrashed China in three straight sets (25-18; 25-23; and 25-17).

Iran is in Pool E along with Australia, China and India. The Iranian team will take on India on Wednesday where a victory will secure the team’s berth to the semifinal.

Iran advanced from the group stage of the Asian competitions in the second place of group A after easy wins versus Sri Lanka and Qatar and a defeat against Australia.

After its second victory against Qatar Iran booked a place in the 2020 Men’s Asian Olympic Qualifications.

Iran trounces Qatar 3-0 at Asian Volleyball C’ship

In a Saturday match in Tehran’s Azadi Sports Complex, the Iranian national volleyball team defeated Qatar in three straight sets 3-0 (25-18; 25-15; 25-17).

The match was Iranian squad’s second match at the 2019 Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship. In its first match on Friday, Iran gained a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-23) victory over Sri Lanka.

Iran is in Group A of the event along with Sri Lanka, Australia and Qatar. The third match versus Australia starts tomorrow in Tehran’s Azadi Sports Complex at 6 PM local time.

With this win, Iran has booked a place in the 2020 Men’s Asian Olympic Qualifications.

As many as 16 teams compete in 4 groups to determine the continental champion. Also, eight best teams of the event will advance to 2020 Men’s Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in China’s Jiangmen in January where the winner will win the Olympics quota.

Iran wins title of 2019 Cadet Asian GR Wrestling C’ship

Iranian wrestlers earned four gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Amirreza Dehbozorgi (48kg), Saeid Esmaeili (51kg) and Saeid Karimizadeh (92kg), and Hojjat Rezaei (65kg) were the gold-winners of Iran in the event.

Danial Sohrabi (60kg) and Reza Saki (70kg) gained silver medals of their categories while Iran’s sole bronze medal was gained by Shahrokh Mikaeilizadeh (110kg).

Iran claimed the event’s title with 181 points while Kazakhstan and India ranked next.

Cadet Asian Wrestling Championships kicked off in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan on July four. The competition will continue today with freestyle event where Iranian wrestlers will also compete for the podium. The event will wrap up on Sunday.

Iran wins first two games at FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2019

The FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2019 is being played with a Qualifying Draw on 22-23 May 2019 and a Main Draw on 24-26 May 2019.

In group A of the Qualifying Draw, Iran has been seeded along Qatar, Thailand, Samoa, and the Philippines.

The Iranian team, comprised of Ali Allahverdi, Amirhossein Azari, Mohammad Ojaghi, and Amir Sedighi, first beat Samoa 21-9 before hammering Thailand 21-6 on Wednesday.

The team will lock horns with Qatar and the Philippines on Thursday and can advance to the Pool B of the Main Draw besides China and New Zealand if finish this stage as the group leader.

2018 Asian U23 Canoe Slalom C’ships kicks off today in Karaj

The first edition of Asian Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships starts today in Karaj, Alborz province.

Athletes from different Asian countries including Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Vietnam, Chinese Taipei, Lebanon, India, and Turkey participate in the event.

The opening ceremony will be held today and the competitions will kick off tomorrow in kayak and canoe categories.

Karaj River, situated in the north of Alborz province, hosts the event which will end on November 3.
