TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with ambassadors and representatives of foreign countries based in Tehran, Araqchi said:

“Today’s meeting was arranged to brief the ambassadors on the latest discussions in New York. It was also necessary to provide explanations about the ‘snapback’ mechanism.”

He continued: “All countries should recognize Iran’s rightful position and understand the situation created by Western powers. Iran has worked for a fair and balanced negotiated solution, but it was the Western countries that responded negatively due to their excessive demands.”

Araqchi emphasized that the experience of negotiations in New York demonstrated that there is no alternative to a diplomatic solution for Iran’s nuclear issue:

“For years they threatened military action and resorted to the snapback mechanism. Our response was that, just as military attack was not a solution, neither is snapback. The three European countries thought they had this leverage, but when they used it, they saw it solved nothing.”

Araqchi said the three European countries involved had weakened their own role in the talks:

“Diplomacy does not end, but the question is how and with which parties it continues. The three European countries have certainly reduced their role and undermined the justification for negotiations. In any future negotiated solution, their role will be smaller.”

He rejected claims of additional conditions for the talks: “No such conditions were officially stated. Our negotiations were solely about the nuclear issue. Our proposals were clear, and had they been considered, a negotiated solution would not have been out of reach. This is still possible if they come to talks in good faith that benefit both sides.”

On cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Araqchi said:

“We signed an agreement with the Agency in Cairo outlining a new framework for cooperation. Given the attacks and existing concerns, cooperation as before was no longer feasible, and a new framework was needed.”

He added: “The Cairo agreement can no longer serve as the basis for our cooperation with the Agency. The snapback has changed all conditions, and we face a new situation that requires new decisions. The Cairo agreement is no longer effective.”

Araqchi stressed that Iran has acted in good faith: “Iran has taken every step it needed to, cooperating with the Agency and presenting fair proposals. The West has no excuse to claim that Iran has avoided negotiations or to justify triggering the snapback mechanism. Iran’s rightful stance has been made clear.”

He added: “Iran has demonstrated through its actions that it seeks only to secure its own rights and remains ready for any fair solution. The last time there was an attack, over 120 countries around the world condemned it because Iran acted as a rational player. Now too, Iran has shown that it is a prudent actor and will not relinquish its rights.”

TEHRAN (Iran News)  Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has strongly reacted to the language of threats used by the U.S. and Israeli officials, saying that Iran will respond in a more decisive manner if the aggression is repeated.

“Iran, a nation with a rich culture originating from 7000 years of civilization, will never respond to the language of threat and intimidation. Iranians have never bowed down before any foreigners and respond only to respect,” Araqchi wrote in a post on his X account.

Araqchi’s remarks came in response to the language of threats and intimidation intensified over the few days by the American officials threatening Iran with renewed aggression.

“Iran knows exactly what happened during the recent American-Israeli aggression, both to us and our adversaries—including the extent of blows that are still being censored. If aggression is repeated, we will not hesitate to react in a more decisive manner and in a way that will be impossible to cover up,” he added.

“More than a million Iranians need medical radioisotopes produced by the Tehran Research Reactor, an American-supplied facility fuelled by 20%-enriched uranium. Iran also needs enrichment to fuel our nascent nuclear power reactors,” he said.

“No one in their right mind would abandon the fruits of tremendous investment in homegrown and peaceful technology which is saving lives—and simply because bulling foreigners demand it.”

“The recent unlawful bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities has proven what we have always stated: there is no “military solution”. If there are concerns about the possible diversion of our nuclear program into non-peaceful purposes, the “military option” proved incapable—but a negotiated solution may work,” Araqchi continued.

“All should know that we Iranians have NOT BOUGHT our PEACEFUL nuclear program; we have BUILT IT WITH BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS. The technology and know-how that our FORMIDABLE human resources have developed CANNOT be destroyed by bombings. Yes, our enrichment facilities are severely damaged, but our DETERMINATION IS NOT,” the Foreign Minister concluded his post.

TEHRAN (Iran News) In an interview with CBS News, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has emphasized that Iran’s “peaceful nuclear program has turned into a matter of national pride and glory.”

Underlining the Islamic Republic’s legitimate right to enrich uranium, he remarked, “We have also gone through 12 days of imposed war; therefore, people will not easily back down from enrichment.”

The foreign minister referred to U.S.-Israeli attempts to eliminate Iran’s nuclear program, saying, “One cannot obliterate the technology and science for enrichment through bombings.” Araqchi further said, “If there is this will on our part, and the will exists in order to once again make progress in this industry, we will be able to expeditiously repair the damages and make up for the lost time.”

Regarding the possibility of resuming indirect talks with the United States on the lifting of sanctions and uranium enrichment, he said, “Doors of diplomacy will never slam shut.” However, he added, “I don’t think negotiations will restart as quickly as that.”

He also said that the Islamic Republic requires certain assurances from the U.S. to engage in a new round of negotiations. “In order for us to decide to reengage, we will have to first ensure that America will not revert back to targeting us in a military attack during the negotiations,” he said, “And I think with all these considerations, we still need more time.”

On Iran’s decisive response to the Israeli regime’s aggression, Araqchi said, “We showed during this 12-day imposed war that we have the ability to defend ourselves, and we will continue to do so should any aggression be launched against us.”

On June 13, the Israeli regime started airstrikes on Iran, including its nuclear facilities, killing hundreds of scientists, military personnel and civilians. The United States joined the regime’s war against Iran by attacking nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan on June 22.

TEHRAN (Iran News)  Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says the Iranian people will not allow anyone to decide their destiny and will remain steadfast on this path until the last drop of their blood.

Araqchi made the comment early on Sunday, a day after hundreds of thousands of mourners held a funeral procession in the capital, Tehran, for 60 people killed in the latest Israeli aggression against Iran.

“Once again, the Great People of Iran are exhibiting their Remarkable Strength and Resilience to the world,” the top diplomat wrote on his X account.

“The Wave after Wave of Patriots who took to the streets in Iran to honor military commanders, scientists, researchers and civilians including women and children murdered in cold blood by the Cowardly Israeli regime, all have one message: Unlike the Feeble Israeli regime, we do NOT hide our losses; we are PROUD of our MARTYRS, who are our role models. For every fallen officer or scientist, Rest Assured 100 More Are Lining Up To Take Their Places,” he added.

Araqchi further said in his post that the Iranian people will not allow anyone to decide their fate.

The Israeli regime launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran on June 13, killing over 600 people, including top military commanders, scientists, and civilians.

Before traveling to Moscow, he was in Istanbul, Turkey to participate in an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (O.I.C.) that was held to discuss the Israeli and U.S. war of aggression on Iran.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran, including residential buildings in Tehran, in an unprovoked act of aggression overnight on June 13. Top Iranian military officials were assassinated in targeted strikes. Civilians died when houses were directly struck. Entire population centers were affected.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed new military commanders later that same day and said life would turn bleak for Israel. Shortly afterwards, the Iranian Armed Forces promised to “open the gates of hell” to Israel and began waves of punitive strikes inside the Israeli-occupied territories, hitting sensitive sites in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa, among other cities, with salvos of missiles and drones.

TEHRAN (Iran News)  Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi addresses the Human Rights Council at the headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva.

What follows is the transcript of his speech.

Mr. President,

Distinguished delegates,

I am Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran, a peace-loving nation inheriting one of the most ancient civilizations that has made significant contribution to human civilization, culture and ethics.

Now, this nation of 100 million population is subject to an egregious act of aggression by a regime that has been committing a horrible genocide in Palestine for the past 2 years and that is occupying the lands of neighboring countries.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I stand before this august body to remind you of the legal and ethical responsibility, each and every State member and observer of the Human Rights Council, has to stand up against this grave injustice.

Israel has launched an unprovoked aggression on Iran in stark violation of Article 2(4) of the Charter and in bold defiance of all the principles and rules that this Council stands for.

This is an unjust war imposed on my people since early hours of Friday 13 June when Israel perpetrated a mix of unlawful and criminal operations against off-duty military personnel, university professors and ordinary people. Hundreds of my fellow Iranians have been killed and injured following Israel’s surprise armed attacks and terrorist operations on residential areas, public infrastructures, hospitals and health centers.

Our peaceful nuclear facilities have also been targeted despite their being under full monitoring of IAEA and despite the fact that attacking such facilities are absolutely banned under international law. Israel attacks on nuclear facilities are grave war crimes, given also the danger of environmental and health catastrophe as the result of radiological leakage.

Mr. President,

Iran, a founding member of the United Nations system, rightfully expects each and every one of you to stand for justice, rule of law and basic tenets of humanity and ethics. Iran is under a merciless act of aggression. This crystal-clear fact must not allowed to be twisted upside-down by Israel and its backers. Israel aggression on Iran cannot and must not be justified by any legal or moral standards. Any justification for this unjust and criminal war would be tantamount to complicity.

Iran is defending itself against this barbaric aggression. We are entitled, tasked and determined to defend our territorial integrity, national sovereignty and security with all force. This is our inherent right, as also clearly recognized under Article 51 of Charter.

Dear Colleagues,

The peace and rule of law are at serious stake as the result of Israel’s unlawful invasion of Iran. Israel is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity. International humanitarian law, already badly undermined as a consequence of Israel’s relentless atrocities in occupied Palestine and elsewhere, is now under another extremely serious danger as Israel is committing grave violations of 1949 Geneva Conventions.

Mr. President,

Switzerland is the custodian of Geneva Conventions and Protocols on IHL and has an important responsibility in this regard. Indeed, every State party to 1949 Convention shall shoulder their responsibility under this Conventions, in particular Common Articles 1 and 3 of these Conventions.

Dear Colleagues,

We were attacked in the midst of an ongoing diplomatic process. We were supposed to meet with Americans on 15 June to craft a very promising agreement for peaceful resolution of the issues fabricated over our peaceful nuclear program. It was a betrayal of diplomacy and an unprecedented blow to the foundation of international law and UN system.

Let me be clear:

If there is any use for the costly systems and mechanisms we’ve created for the past 8 decades to preserve human rights and dignity, now is the time to do it.

We need action now. Indifference and inaction should not be an option. Anything less than that, would make everyone regret. The consequences of this war of aggression would not be limited to any single country. The whole region, and beyond, will suffer. But more than that: the whole UN-based international law system would be jeopardized badly.

This is a historic moment for human civilization when a civilized nation has come under an unjust war of aggression.

The world, every State, every UN mechanism and body, has to be alarmed and has to act now to stop the aggressor, to end impunity, and to hold the criminals accountable for their unending atrocities and crimes in our region.

This is a call from someone who has allocated his whole life to dialogue and diplomacy, but who also, is a veteran of an imposed war by Saddam regime and knows how to defend his beloved mother land.

In the meeting that took place on Tuesday evening, Pasandideh described his programs and priorities for strengthening bilateral relationships with Mexico.

Meanwhile, Araqchi wished success for Iran’s new ambassador in Mexico City.

He also highlighted Mexico’s importance in the Americas and stressed the need to develop cooperation between Iran and Mexico.
