Commander Stresses on Domestic Capacities to Overcome Problems

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said the country can counter foreign economic pressures and overcome the existing problems by relying on domestic capacities.

Speaking on the sidelines of an exhibition of the IRGC’s military achievements in Tehran on Thursday, Brigadier General Hajizadeh highlighted the importance of reliance on domestic capacities to overcome the difficulties imposed by the enemy.

This exhibition is yet another proof that reliance on youths, elites and indigenous capacities could upgrade Iran’s international standing and help the country achieve self-reliance in many areas such as defense amid sanctions and pressures, he added.

Back in April 2016, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei referred to the United States and some other Western countries as unreliable sides, and called on Iranian authorities to rely not on the West but on domestic capacities and capabilities.

The US, and some other Western countries, cannot be trusted, the Leader said, stressing that the stances and moves of US officials confirm this.

“Therefore, we should rely on our own capabilities,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, reiterating that the abundant local capacities and capabilities should be tapped to resolve the country’s problems.

IRGC Aerospace Force chief: ‘I wished death’ when I heard the news

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the chief of the IRGC Aerospace Force, said on Saturday that after he became “confident” that the Ukrainian passenger plane had been shot down erroneously by the Iranian air defense system “I wished death”.

The passenger plane, with 179 people aboard, was mistakenly downed on Wednesday morning. It happened a few hours after Iran fired dozens of missiles at the U.S. airbase inside Iraq in retaliation for the assassination of Iranian Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad on January 3.

Hajizadeh said he was in western Iran when the incident happened.

“I will accept all the responsibilities for this incident,” the chief of the IRGC Aerospace Force told in a press conference.

He added, “We will obey any decision by officials.”

US bases, vessels in region within reach of Iran’s missiles: top cmndr.

“Besides the American bases in the region, we are keeping a constant watch over all their [Americans] vessels, including destroyers and frigates, stationed up to 2,000 kilometers, and they are within the reach of our missiles,” Brigadier General Hajizadeh said on Sunday.

The commander also noted that after Iran shot down a US spy drone over the Persian Gulf in July, the IRGC Aerospace Force was on high alert in a way that Iranian missiles were zeroed in on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, and an American warship in the Sea of Oman.

“We would have hit those targets if the US had shown a reaction,” he said.

“We have been constantly preparing ourselves for a full-fledged war,” General Hajizade added.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in June shot down an intruding American spy drone over the country’s southern coastal province of Hormozgan.

The intruding drone was shot by Iran’s homegrown air defense missile system “Khordad-3rd”.

Parl. security commission to hold meeting with IRGC’s Hajizadeh on US drone

Seyyed Hossein Naghavi Hosseini told Mehr News correspondent that Hajizadeh and his deputies will attend today’s session of the commission.

The downing of the US spy drone will be discussed in the session, he said, adding that, the members of the committee will next study the US drone debris.

A US Global Hawk spy drone intruded into Iranian airspace on Thursday, which was brought down by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps after the drone ignored Iran’s several warnings. IRGC says there was another intruding US manned plane beside the Global Hawk but the force ‘refrained’ from targeting it.

Iran has provided sufficient evidence proving that the UAV had violated Iran’s airspace, including exact coordinates of the place as well as sections of the vehicle’s wreckage which were retrieved from Iranian waters. Tehran also says it will take the case to the UN.

Iran to add more to its ‘US drone collection’ if aggression continues: IRGC

“We possess a collection of US drones which is a proof that US has violated Iran’s airspace and shows that they don’t want to respect the international law,” the Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force told IRNA on Saturday. “If such aggression is repeated, we will add other US [military] products to complete this collection,” he noted.

The remarks came as IRGC air defense brought down a US Global Hawk spy drone on Thursday, near the Strait of Hormuz, after the drone intruded into Iranian airspace. Iran later revealed sections of the US drone wreckage retrieved from Iranian waters; a proof which dismissed US claim that the drone was operating in international waters. Meanwhile, Iran has said it will take the case to the United Nations to prove US’s lies.

“The US measure was in violation of international law and we acted according to our legitimate duty,” Hajizadeh said, adding, “it is possible that a US general or some operators were behind this American aggression, we don’t know that. But that measure [intruding into Iranian airspace] is a violation of international aviation rules by a spy drone which then received our natural response.”

“Our response to anything trespassing Iranian territory is like this, and if such acts of aggression are repeated, our response will also be the same.”

“We don’t embrace war but we are ready to fully defend the country,” the IRGC top commander highlighted.

IRGC to Equip Fighter Jets with Long-Range Cruise Missiles: Commander

Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh announced that the IRGC’s fighter jets will be equipped with cruise missiles with a range of 1500 kilometers.

Brigadier General Hajizadeh made the announcement on the sidelines of a ceremony attended by IRGC Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, which was held in Tehran on Wednesday to deliver 10 Sukhoi Su-22 fighter jets overhauled and upgraded by domestic experts at the IRGC Aerospace Force.

With this upgrade, these bombers will be able to carry and fire smart and cluster bombs, and air-to-ground and air-to-air missiles with pinpoint accuracy, and to transfer data between drones from distances of several kilometers, the commander said.

Brigadier General Hajizadeh further stressed that in the near future, air-to-ground cruise missiles with pinpoint accuracy and a range of 1500 kilometers will be installed on the bombers.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Tehran has always assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
