“We warn the Persian Gulf countries that if an incident was to occur for one of the atomic battleships in the Persian Gulf, they wouldn’t even have drinking water anymore,” Tangsiri said, ILNA reported.

Tensions have spiked between Iran and the U.S. in the Persian Gulf after the U.S. announced plans to form a military coalition to counter what it calls the “Iran threat”.

Only Israel and the UK have welcomed the call, which has been rejected by other allies of Washington.

The U.S. claims Tehran has played a role in two attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman in May and June, which Iran has categorically denied.

“Today, we can establish security in the Persian Gulf through the empathy and convergence of other countries,” Tangsiri said.

“Iran is the flag-bearer of establishing security beyond its borders in the Indian Ocean and other regions,” he stressed.

He further said that the seven countries to the south of the Persian Gulf plus Iran were fully capable of establishing security in the region.

Israel’s welcoming of the U.S. plan has been met with condemnations by Iranian officials and commanders.

In an interview with the Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen last week, Tangsiri warned that any Israeli presence in the Persian Gulf may result in a war in the region, and the responsibility for the consequences of such illegal presence lies with the U.S. and the UK.

“The United States and the United Kingdom must assume responsibility for the Zionist regime’s illegal presence in the Persian Gulf waters,” he warned.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi also warned that the Islamic Republic considers possible Israeli presence in the U.S.-led coalition as a clear threat to its national security, and reserves the right to counter it.

“The U.S. regime and the illegitimate Zionist regime are responsible for all the consequences of this dangerous move,” the spokesman added.

Warning that foreign military presence in the Persian Gulf brings insecurity and instability to the region, IRGC commander stressed that deep waterways in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman and between Iranian islands were safe and that the Islamic Republic had always worked to establish security there.

“Today, we can establish security in the Persian Gulf. Iran is the flag-bearer [among the countries] establishing security,” he stressed.

He also said that the seven countries to the south of the Persian Gulf plus Iran were fully capable of establishing security.

However, he warned, foreign military presence would be cause for insecurity.

“If the region was set on fire, the foreigners would merely seek to convince regional countries that they need weapons,” Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said. “In fact, the United States and the United Kingdom want to insinuate that the region is insecure.”

He said the Persian Gulf was an “enclosed” gulf, and that US aircraft carriers and submarines operating on nuclear fuel would cause serious trouble if “they encountered some problem.”

“[If that happened,] the very countries south of the Persian Gulf and our Muslim neighbors — which have [so many] water desalination machines — will have no water to drink,” he said.

The United States has recently been attempting to persuade its allies to join a coalition with the declared aim of providing “security” for commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth of all oil consumed globally passes.

Only Israel and the UK have welcomed the call, which has been rejected by Washington’s other allies.

The US claims that Tehran has played a role in two mysterious attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman in May and June, which Iran has categorically denied.

“The smallest movements along water borders of the country, especially in the Persian Gulf, is observed with the full authority of the Navy, and nothing remains hidden from the sharp eye of IRGC,” Tangsiri said.

The authoritative presence of IRGC Navy in the Persian Gulf region acts as a strong dam against enemies, he said adding that IRGC’s capabilities have been proved several times to enemies during past years.

He went on to say that IRGC shoulders the responsibility of guarding Iran’s waters from the Strait of Hormuz to Khuzestan province while also helping the Army’s Navy in other southern regions as well.

The newly-appointed Commander of the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said that Iran is holding sway in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

“All military vessels crossing the Strait of Hormuz are observing the international law and the strait is monitored round the clock and the Persian Gulf is completely under IRGC’s sway,” said Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, the new Commander of the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The commander made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony in Iranian northeastern city of Mashhad.

“The enemies’ presence in the region disrupts the security of the countries of the region and the enemies are trying to sell their arms through this presence,” asserted the commander.

“The presence of all foreign forces in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman is meticulously monitored and we have a much-better-than-the-past control over the southern waters of Iran. The IRGC’s Navy and the Army’s Navy are fully prepared,” reiterated the commander.

“We are defending the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz and we have no problem caused by enemies in this region. The Persian Gulf is our home and we can guarantee its security with the help of the neighboring countries and there is no need for alien countries like US in the Persian Gulf,” he underlined.

Referring to the presence of nuclear ships in the Persian Gulf, he voiced concern over the environmental problems caused by these vessel. “They don’t use such vessels in their own waters but dispatch them to the sea of our region,” he lashed out at US policies towards the Persian Gulf.
