Jahanbakhsh scored a remarkable overhead kick as Brighton came from a goal down to get a very useful point at home to Chelsea.

Cesar Azpilicueta gave Chelsea the early lead as he pounced onto a rebound from Tammy Abraham’s blocked effort.

“It’s a decent feeling, I can’t describe how happy I am. I’ve tried to keep my mentality high and when I found out I was going to play, I had a good feeling,” the Iranian said.

“I had a feeling I could impact the game and when [Lewis Dunk] gave me the ball the only way to hit it was with the bicycle kick and it just went in the right direction.

“It’s the best goal of my career so far,” he added.

According To Iran News, Alireza Jahanbakhsh is poised to leave Brighton & Hove Albion on loan in January after a nightmare 17 months since joining for £17 million from AZ Alkmaar.

The premier league club is lining up a temporary exit for the Iran winger in the new year, provided there are no setbacks with the timescale for Solly March’s return from minor groin surgery.

March is on course for a comeback early in January or sooner. That will trigger a move for Jahanbakhsh, probably back to the Netherlands, theathletic.com reported.

Jahanbakhsh’s fortunes have nosedived since his move to Brighton after an outstanding season for AZ Alkmaar. He scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists in 33 games for AZ in the Eredivisie in 2017-18.

Brighton, who had been long-time admirers of Jahanbakhsh, finally landed the 26-year-old after initially attempting to sign him in 2015 when it was still in the Championship.

According To Iran News, Brighton & Hove Albion coach Graham Potter expects Alireza Jahanbakhsh to keep battling for his place in the Premier League team.

The Iran winger has yet to play a Premier League minute this season and is expected to again be out of the 18 when Seagulls go to Manchester United on Sunday.

Potter has been impressed by Jahanbakhsh’s work ethic and, from personal experience, can empathize with his frustration.

But he accepts it has been hard for the record signing to force his way into his plans.

The Albion boss said he can understand why a player who is out of the frame would want to move on when the transfer window opens. But, while not ruling it out, he does not see that being the case with Jahanbakhsh in January.

Potter told The Argus: “I can understand why a footballer always wants to play. You have to understand that and there will be a time where, if that’s not the case, you have to make a decision with the player as well.

“At the same time, he’s an important member of the group and, in football, things change very quickly. He could be playing in the next game or so, that’s how things can go. He is committed to the club and ultimately the club will make that decision as well.

“It’s a bit of a tricky one. You don’t want players at the club who don’t want to be here but that isn’t the case with Ali. He is fully committed to the club, fully committed to the team, fully committed to the lads. He has been fantastic. If it’s not Alireza, we will be talking about someone else who is out of the squad. That’s how it is in the Premier League,” the Albion coach added.

Jahanbakhsh tweeted recently to say how much he had enjoyed training.

Potter concluded: “I feel for the player, because I have been there myself. I spent most of my career not playing in the team so I have a full understanding of how they feel.”

According To Iran News, Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Graham Potter admitted it’s possible Alireza Jahanbakhsh could depart during the upcoming January transfer window.

Jahanbakhsh, 26, has not featured in the Premier League this season and has made just one appearance in the Carabao Cup at Bristol Rovers.

The Iranian joined Brighton for £17m from AZ Alkmaar in July 2018. He made 24 appearances under Chris Hughton, without scoring or claiming an assist, brightonandhoveindependent.co.uk reported.

Asked if you could move-on in January, Potter responded: “Yes and no is the answer.

“I can understand why a footballer always wants to play. There will be a time where, if that’s the case, we have to make that decision with the player.

“At the same time he is an important member of the group. Things change in football really quickly. I know he could play in the next week or so, that’s how things can go.

“Ultimately the club will make that decision as well. It’s a bit of a tricky one. You don’t want players here that don’t want to be here.

“But that is not the case with Ali. He is fully committed. I spent most of my career not playing and I fully understand how he feels. But that is the challenge of the Premier League.”

Potter did stress however that despite the disappointment of not playing, Jahanbakhsh has been a model professional and is a valuable member of the group.

“Ali (jahanbakhsh) is a bit stop-start,” Potter added. “He came back a little bit late and then he wasn’t in the group and the team and then he picked up a little injury when he was away with Iran.

“He has got back well and he is part of the group again and he is training really hard. Trains well. It is just there are competition for places.

“He is of course disappointed because everyone wants to play, everyone wants to be involved. He wants to help the team. He is a good lad, Ali.

“I like him a lot. He is professional, he supports the lads. No problem at all around the club. He has been fantastic in that regard,” Potter concluded.

Jahanbakhsh joined the Seagulls as player of the season in Eredivisie, the Dutch top flight, after 21 goals and 12 assists in 33 games for Az Alkmaar.

His debut campaign at the Amex ended without a goal or assist in 24 appearances, 17 of them in the starting line-up.

Jahanbakhsh will have a full pre-season this time with Potter following another appearance for his country in a 1-1 friendly draw in South Korea, which he withdrew from at half-time after feeling unwell.

He already has some inside information on the head coach from international teammate Saman Ghoddos, who played under Potter in Sweden for Ostersunds FK.

“He (Ghoddos) was very positive about our new manager and that gives me even more of a good feeling ahead of the start of pre-season,” Jahanbakhsh told Argus.

“Football-wise he wants to use the wingers and get them to create chances. It’s all about looking forward and scoring goals, but he also wants to talk to the players and get the feeling of the way they like to perform. I am really looking forward to linking up with him and to see how he wants us to play,” he added.

A lot was expected of the Iranian after his stellar season with AZ Alkmaar, for whom he scored and assisted a combined 36 goals in all competitions.

However, Jahanbakhsh failed to register a single goal or assist this campaign, which has largely been down to his side’s style of play rather than his own wrongdoings.

The 25-year-old will thrive when he is given the freedom to showcase his skills in the attacking areas and Potter should look to build his team around Jahanbakhsh next season.
