Motaharri pointed to a European foreign minister’s comment that the implementation of this mechanism is tied to approving FATF’s requirements in Iran, saying “this is a kind of interference in Iran’s domestic affairs, asking Iranian Foreign Minsitry to give them a crushing response.”

Three European countries, France, Germany, and the UK, announced the establishment of a mechanism to help facilitate trade with Iran, which demands economic benefits for staying in the 2015 nuclear deal.

The new proposal, labeled as “Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges” (INSTEX) will allow Iran to barter for European goods in transactions that steer clear of financial networks and do not rely on the US dollar.

In the meantime, the European trio, France, Germany, and the UK has decisively demanded Iran to comply with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) requirements, if it seeks rapid implementation on INSTEX.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Motahari said Palestine’s liberation will only be achieved through the unity among the Muslim countries, and there should be no division between the Islamic world and especially between Shias and Sunnis.”

Motahari underlined that “today, we all must follow the Leader of Islamic Revolution with the unity and, try to bring US and Israeli regime to their knees make the kneel with efforts and resistance.”

This mechanism, he stressed, is advantageous for EU, allowing it to be independent from the United States, and breaking the dominance of the dollar.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ali Motahari said Tue. that Tehran would retaliate against US threats of reducing Iran’s oil revenues to zero by closing the Strait of Hormuz as one of the world’s key maritime choke points.

Motahari made the remark in relation to the US’ implicit threats to squeeze Iran’s oil exports following Washington’s withdrawal from the nuclear deal and its decision to reinstate sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

US officials have called on countries to cut all imports of Iranian oil when it reimposes sanctions on Tehran. The first batch on August 4 targets Iran’s automotive sector and its trade in gold and other key metals, and the second batch to be imposed on November 6 will target Iran’s energy sector, petroleum-related transactions, and transactions with the Central Bank of Iran.

State Department Director of Policy Planning Brian Hook told reporters on July 2 that the US aims to increase pressure on Iran by “reducing to zero its revenue on crude oil sales.”

Following the threat, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, while on a visit to Switzerland, said the US had no understanding of the actual meaning of the threat, adding that “it has no meaning for Iranian oil not to be exported while the region’s oil is exported.” Rouhani also maintained that any attempts to undermine Iran’s oil exports would result in consequences for the US.

The deputy parliament speaker further hailed President Rouhani’s response to US oil sanctions, adding “the Americans are not prepared for a new war in the Persian Gulf, therefore Mr. President’s words were a good threat that will result in a positive impact and act as a deterrent to any bans against Iran’s oil exports.”
