TEHRAN (Iran News) Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told IRNA on Saturday that Donald Trump’s unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) during his previous term as US president is the source of Iran’s distrust to Washington and its partners.” Alaeddin Boroujerdi”

Under international law and Islamic rules, negotiations must be based on sustainable principles so that the other party fulfills its obligations, he added.

Europeans have also shown that they cannot make the right decisions, he said, noting that they are subject to American policies.

Negotiations will not come to fruition when there is distrust, the parliamentarian underlined.

Meanwhile, another legislator Behnam Saeedi said that Iran has begun activating new centrifuges in reaction to the hostile action of the Board of Governors (BoG) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Iran has had constructive cooperation and interaction with the IAEA over its peaceful nuclear program, but it never allows the agency and Western countries to abuse this goodwill and constructive interaction, he underscored.

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and the Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a joint statement in the early hours of Friday, slamming the resolution at the IAEA against the country’s peaceful nuclear program.

“Despite lack of facilities, Yemen has smart people. They adopted a clever retaliatory measure in recent days and used their right to self-defense,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said on Wednesday.

Yemen’s Ansarullah movement and their allies in the Yemeni army deployed as many as 10 drones to bomb Abqaiq and Khurais oil facilities run by the Saudi state-owned oil company Aramco before dawn Saturday. US and its allies rushed to blame Iran for the attacks without providing any credible evidence.

“Yemen’s measure was a reaction to various illegal actions and war crimes of Saudi Arabia and had nothing to do with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Boroujerdi added.

“No Iranian forces are in Yemen,” highlighted the MP, adding that Yemen’s recent retaliatory measure was based on its own domestic capabilities.

He went on to stress that “American and Saudi officials and their allies are trying to establish ‘maximum deceit’ along with the ‘maximum pressure’ against the Iranian nation because they are in a position of failure.”

The unprecedented attack knocked out more than half of Saudi crude output, or 5% of global supply, prompting Saudi and US officials to claim without any evidence that it probably originated from Iraq or Iran.

In reaction to US baseless accusations, Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said that “These comments and measures seem to be plans of secret organizations and intelligence services to tarnish the image of a country in a bid to prepare the ground for measures in the future. Americans are pursuing a policy dubbed ‘maximum pressure’ which has now turned into ‘maximum deceit’ due to its failures.”

Saudi Arabia has been leading a coalition of its vassal states in waging war on Yemen since March 2015 to reinstall former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who resigned from presidency and fled to Riyadh in January 2015 amid popular outcry over corruption and mismanagement of the economy. Yemen’s Ansarullah forces then took over state matters to prevent the country from descending into chaos.

The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the Saudi-led war has claimed the lives of over 60,000 Yemenis since January 2016.

The war has taken a heavy toll on the country’s infrastructure, destroying hospitals, schools, and factories. The UN says over 24 million Yemenis are in dire need of humanitarian aid, including 10 million suffering from extreme levels of hunger.

“The Islamic Republic should speak clearly with the world in its foreign policy. Making any ambiguous remark is wrong and not in favor of the Islamic Republic. We will certainly never negotiate with America,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told Mehr on Wednesday.

“Negotiations open with the aim of reaching an agreement; this is while we arrived at an agreement with Americans in the framework of 5+1 but US violated the deal. Hence repeating the talks is not rational. However, the window of negotiation with regional countries, neighbors and Europeans is open.”

“President’s remarks created this assumption that Iran is ready to talk with America but the Islamic Republic will hold no negotiation with US because they cannot be trusted. This stance should be clearly announced and of course President Rouhani has repeatedly declared it,” he added.

Last week, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had said that key to “positive developments” is in the hands of Washington, noting that if meeting with a foreign official would lead to Iran’s development, he would not reject it. The remarks came amid President Macron’s announcement that grounds are prepared for a visit between US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Rouhani.

Rouhani, who attended Parliament’s open session on Tuesday, highlighted that no talks with the United States is on the agenda.

“We’ve said it before time and again, and we say it again: We have no intention to hold bilateral talks with the United States. We never did and never will. It has been the case in the past year and a half, and even in previous years. There have been calls for talks, but we never responded to them,” he said.

“When we talk about negotiations, we only mean it under the situation where all sanctions have been lifted; that is, the situation we previously had under the JCPOA. Our stance is clear,” Rouhani stressed.

On Tuesday, lawmakers appreciated President Rouhani for his recent stance towards negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

“Your previous remarks [regarding talks with US] had worried those who care about the Islamic Establishment,” reads the statement, adding that Rouhani’s recent rejection of talks has killed all the hopes in Washington.

“Release of the Iranian tanker proved that diplomacy based on resistance and Revolutionary ideas is effective,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told Mehr on Monday.

“Our diplomacy on this issue was based on ensuring national security and interest of the country and also on Revolutionary diplomacy of resistance,” he added.

Despite all US pressures and requests, Gibraltar government on Wednesday ordered the release of the tanker, formerly known as Grace 1. Iran’s Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad confirmed early Monday that the supertanker has started its journey in international waters 45 days after being seized in Gibraltar.

Britain’s naval forces unlawfully seized the vessel, then known as Grace 1, and its cargo of 2.1 million barrels of oil in the Strait of Gibraltar on July 4 under the pretext that the supertanker had been suspected of carrying crude to Syria in violation of the European Union’s unilateral sanctions against the Arab country.

“Seizing Iranian tanker was an illegal measure and an act of piracy by England upon US order,” added Boroujerdi.

“In line with its legal authorities and in a bid to ensure security of Hormuz Strait and the Persian Gulf, the Islamic Republic of Iran retaliated UK’s measure; because the security of the Persian Gulf region is the security of the Islamic Republic,” noted the lawmaker, referring to seizure of UK-flagged tanker Stena Impero after it had violated international maritime rules in the Strait of Hormuz.

“England’s measure was a threat to international maritime security, so the Islamic Republic of Iran decided to give a firm response since many countries send tankers to the Persian Gulf to buy oil and Iran couldn’t let the region face a crisis,” said Boroujerdi.

IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri highlighted on Sunday that Port and Maritime Organization of Iran (PMO) and Iranian Judiciary system have to decide on the fate of Stena Impero, adding, “there is no relation between the release of Grace 1 from Gibraltar and the British oil tanker detained by IRGC.”

Referring to Iran’s second step of reducing commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as JCPOA, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said that Iran was left with no other choice but to cut commitments in line with defending national interests, following the US’ unilateral withdrawal from the agreement and lack of any practical measures by the European sides to safeguard Iran’s economic interests.

The second step that was taken by Iran regarding the reduction of commitments, showed Europe and the West that Iran is serious and they should feel that the next step will be taken in the same line.

Answering a question about seizure of Iranian oil tankers by UK and their lack of commitment under JCPOA, Boroujerdi mentioned that their duty is to fulfill their obligations in any case, adding that Iran gave them a deadline to fulfill their obligations and responsibilities; otherwise, we will take the next step, in return.

“Reduction of commitments is different from withdrawal from the JCPOA. It is a decision that, if adopted, will be certainly decided by the Supreme National Security Council,” said Boroujerdi.

“Europeans have shown that they don’t want to pay for saving the agreement. They just make beautiful remarks while words without action are not acceptable for Iran,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told Mehr News Agency on Saturday.

One year after US unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and introducing sanctions against Iran, Tehran announced that it is reducing its commitments to the deal to create a balance in the agreement. Iranian officials say that reducing commitments is legal and done according to paragraphs 26 and 36 of the deal. Iran says this process of reduction will continue every 60 days as long as other parties to the deal can safeguard Iran’s economic interests from damages of US illegal sanctions.

“Four years ago, we hadn’t any limitation [on the nuclear program], and if other parties to the JCPOA don’t abide by their commitments, we will certainly return to conditions prior to the deal,” added the MP.

Western countries’ ‘political play’ is unacceptable, Boroujerdi highlighted, noting that the JCPOA is a bilateral agreement, and Europeans should know that if they don’t honor their commitments, Iran will ‘decisively’ reduce its commitments under the deal.

Saudi Arabia and some other Arab countries have bought arms worth tens of billions of dollars from the United States, he said, adding, “therefore, US policy is the one that has been always in place, i.e. seeking their own economic aims, but this has been more prominent in the Trump era.”

In his presidential election, US President Donald Trump had described Arab countries as ‘milking cows’ and that he would take advantage of their resources, the Iranian MP added.

A member of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, condemned the intrusion of a US spy drone into the Iranian airspace, saying “the United Arab Emirates or any other country that has provided US with military bases and allows Washington to use its territories to invade the Iranian borders must know that they are complicit in this aggression and must take responsibility for it.”

IRGC said Thursday that a US-made Global Hawk surveillance drone was brought down by its Air Force near the Kouh-e Mobarak region, which sits in the central district of Jask County, after the aircraft violated Iranian airspace. Despite US claims that the drone had been flying over international waters, Iran says it has retrieved sections of drone in its own territorial waters where it was shot down.

Asked to comment on certain claims that Iran’s evidence of the intrusion of the American drone is fake, Boroujerdi said “given the fact that the evidence will be evaluated by international experts, Americans cannot use this excuse to deceive the public opinion.”

“Our policy is to preserve the sustainable security of the region, and we are strongly against the US’ measures in the region,” he stressed.

He went on to add, “we are definitely in favor of a serious security cooperation with regional countries. The US, as a country that has nothing to do with our region, must withdraw from the Middle East.”

Alaeddin Boroujerdi pointed to Friday’s phone conversation between the Israeli regime’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, saying, “the prime minister of the Zionist regime thinks that he can deter Japanese PM from cooperating with Iran by pointing out his regime’s redlines in the region, since the Zionist lobby is afraid that Japan would join other countries which cooperate with Iran.”

All US pressures against the country are aimed at changing Tehran’s regional policies and undermining the country’s missile power, he said, noting that some measures of the Trump administration have been adopted due to pressures from the Zionists.

Russia, China and India have continued their cooperation with Iran despite US pressures and the Israeli regime is afraid that Japan would join them, said the member of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.

“And more than that, Zionists are afraid that these tensions would ultimately lead to the normalization of ties between Iran and US; but of course this is not possible because we will not talk and interact with them [Americans] due to their violation of international rules.”

The Japanese PM is slated to make a three-day official visit to Iran on Wednesday.

“Despite their obligations under JCPOA, Europeans have not adopted any practical measure to save the deal, while they should have displayed resistance in face of illegal US pressures,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told Mehr on Saturday.

“The Nuclear Deal was reached with 5+1 in a two-way street based on mutual interests. We accepted some limitation on our peaceful nuclear program in exchange of removal of sanctions; however, US withdrawal from JCPOA and EU’s lack of commitments means exiting this two-way street.”

“Europe has done nothing in practice to save the deal and has just verbally announced the establishment of mechanisms to continue cooperation with Iran which by no means matches our expectation,” he added.

Pointing to the statement of the Supreme National Security Council on May 8, he added, “according to the deal, we have the right to respond to other sides’ lack of commitments.”

“In current circumstances when sanctions are imposed on Iran with US pressure and Europe’s partnership, Iran surely needs to act based on their lack of commitments.”

“We are not satisfied with anything less than EU’s complying with all its commitments under JCPOA,” Boroujerdi highlighted.
