TEHRAN (Iran News) The 39-year-old referee will be assisted by his compatriots Jun Mihara and Kota Watanabe.

The fourth official will be Koki Nagamine.

The match will be held in Tabriz’s Yadegar-e Emam Stadium on Monday.

Tractor sits third in the table, four points adrift of leader Al Hilal. Al Duhail is sixth in the standing.

Mes Defeats Al Duhail in Asian Club League Handball Championship

TEHRAN (Iran News) Mes will play Group A’s third-place team on Tuesday.

Sanat Mes had lost to Khaleej Club of Saudi Arabia 31-22 in Group B in its opening match and defeated Oman’s Ahli Sidab 33-19 and Kuwaiti club Kazma 26-20 in the second match.

The event is taking place from November 11 to 22 and serves as a qualifier for the 2025 IHF Super Globe.

Khaleej Club entered the tournament as the defending champion, having secured its first title in the 2023 edition held in Sabah Al-Salem, Kuwait.

Persepolis Defeated by Al-Duhail in ACL 2020

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Persepolis football team was defeated against Al-Duhail of Qatar 1-0 in Group C of the AFC Champions League on Monday.

Persepolis entered the Matchday Five fixture knowing a win would keep the team top of the group going into the final matchday, while for Al Duhail – defeated by Sharjah in its previous match – the three points would take them past its opponent and boost its chances of progress to the Round of 16.

Al-Duhail was awarded a penalty in the 58th minute after a heavy Shoja Khalilzadeh aerial challenge on Edmilson inside the box.

Al-Duhail captain Almoez Ali stepped up and fired home his third goal of the 2020 AFC Champions League to put the Qatari side in front.

The Iranian team continued to push forward for an equalizer but found itself faced with a strong Al-Duhail defense and was unable to break through until the final whistle.

The result means Al-Duhail now leaps above previous leader Persepolis, reaching nine points for the campaign and enhancing its fortunes ahead of the final matchday.

Persepolis has no way but to defeat Sharjah on Thursday.

Sharjah of the UAE also defeated Al-Taawoun of Saudi Arabia 6-0 in the group and it can reach the Round of 16 for the first time in its history with a win against Persepolis in its last game, while Al-Taawoun’s fate is now out of its hands.

The Saudis need a win against Al-Duhail and a draw between Sharjah and Persepolis to qualify.

Ramin Rezaeian Goes to Al-Duhail

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Qatari giant al-Duhail has signed a two-year contract with Iranian winger Ramin Rezaeian for an undisclosed fee.

During the 2019-2020 season, Rezaeian scored 13 goals for al-Shahania that is considered significant for a winger.

His contract with al-Duhail comes as the Qatari side will take on Persepolis, the former team of Rezaeian, in the AFC Champions League group stage in the next month.

Al-Duhail has recently claimed its seventh Qatar Stars League title.

Rezaeian has represented Iran in the FIFA World Cup 2018 and AFC Asian Cup 2019, making a total of 35 appearances for Team Melli and scoring two goals.

Al Duhail Defeated Persepolis for Our Faults; Coach Says

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Persepolis head coach Yahya Golmohammadi says that his side was punished against Qatari side Al Duhail due to their own mistakes.

Persepolis lost to Qatari club 2-0 in their first match of Group C of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League.

Two early goals from Mario Mandzukic and Edmilson Junior earned Al Duhail FC a 2-0 victory over Persepolis on Tuesday.

“We expected a difficult match but we made so many mistakes and Al Duhail punished us for a couple of mistakes.” Golmohammadi said.

“After conceding two early goals we tried to score but the Qatari side played an intense and closed game and of course their goalkeeper had a good day” he added.

The Reds put the hosts under pressure in the second half and created several scoring chances but failed to score.

Golmohammadi believes that Al Duhail made the most of their chances to score against his side.

“They had only three chances and scored two goals. In the second half, we sent our attacking players to the pitch but were unable to score. Conceding two goals was just an unfortunate phase we went through. We had a bad start and we were not focused during the game and that caused problems for our team” he said.

Persepolis travels to Sharjah next week, while Al Duhail makes the trip west to Buraidah where they face Al Taawoun on Matchday Two.

The match between Iran’s Esteghlal Tehran football club and Al Duhail of Qatar was held at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium stadium, Doha, on Tuesday afternoon, which ended with a 3-0 win for the Qatari team.

Meanwhile, another Iranian giant Perspolis, which was the vice champion of 2018 AFC Champions League, did not display a good performance and only drew 1-1 in a home match against Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor Tashkent in the Group D.

ACL: Ravshan Irmatov to Take Charge of Al Duhail v Esteghlal

The Iranian giant will face star-studded Al Duhail in Doha’s Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Tuesday in Group C of the competition.

An international official since 2003, the 41-year-old ref has officiated in three World Cups in a row.

He was also involved in the London 2012 Olympics, the FIFA Club World Cup on three occasions and the Confederations Cup.

Irmatov has been named the Best Referee in Asia in four consecutive years (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014).

The Uzbek referee officiated Iran and Iraq match in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup group stage, where two teams played out a goalless draw.

Ivankovic optimistic over Persepolis’s return leg against Al Duhail

TEHRAN – Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic believes they can overcome their one-goal deficit and defeat Al Duhail in the return leg in Tehran.

Persepolis lost to the Qatari giants in the first leg of the 2018 AFC Champions League quarter-finals at the Khalifa International Stadium on Tuesday.

The Iranian champions will host Al Duhail in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Sept. 17.

“Al Duhail are among the Asian strongest teams but we can defeat them in Tehran in front of our 80,000 fans,” Ivankovic said in the post-match news conference.

“We lost in the first leg and I am not satisfied with the result but a 1-0 loss can keep our hopes alive in the return leg,” he added.

“Persepolis could have equalized the match, however we lost to a team who have defeated their rivals,” Ivankovic concluded.

Iran Persian Gulf League winner Persepolis conceded defeat to Qatari Al Duhail football team 1-0 on Tue. in the AFC Champions League quarterfinals.

The winner of Iranian Persian Gulf League Perspolis took on Qatari Al Duhail in Khalifa International Stadium in Doha as the first leg of the AFC Champions league quarterfinals and lost the match 1-0 to the Qatari squad.

The close defeat has now given Persepolis the chance to prepare itself for playing better in the return match, which will be held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on September 17.

Playing in front of 80,000 passionate football fans in Tehran’s Azadi stadium will not be easy for the Qatar Al Duhail against the most popular Iranian club.

Al Duhail have no weak points: Branko Ivankovic

TEHRAN – Iran’s Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic could not spot a weak point in Qatar’s Al Duhail football team.

The Iranian giants will meet the Qatari powerhouse on Tuesday at the Khalifa International Stadium in the AFC Champions League (ACL) quarter-final first leg.

“In this stage of the AFC Champions League, there is no a weak team. All teams are strong. We know Al Duhail very well and have met them in the past,” Ivankovic said in the pre-match news conference.

“Al Duhail have new good players but we will do our best to get a good result against them. We’ve analyzed Al Duhail to find their weak points but I have to say they have no weak points,” the Croat added.

“We have not been permitted to sign new player in two transfer windows but I believe in my players. I think we can get a result with our current players,” the Persepolis coach stated.

“We know that Persepolis will face a strong team but will fight until the final whistle for our goals,” Ivankovic concluded.
