TEHRAN (Iran News)  The Army’s operations chief says the air defense systems that were damaged during the US-Israeli war of aggression have been replaced and redeployed, ensuring continued protection of the country’s airspace.

Rear Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi said Iranian forces managed to secure the country’s skies by utilizing existing systems and installing new ones following recent attacks.

He said that one of the first targets in the 12-day imposed war was the country’s radar and air defense systems.

“The criminal Zionist regime launched a cowardly aggression against Iranian soil,” Mousavi said, adding that the enemy’s objective was to destroy Iran’s air defense capabilities.

He praised the round-the-clock efforts of air defense forces, saying many systems were damaged but quickly replaced and deployed in predetermined locations.

“We managed to cover the country’s airspace … and the enemy failed to achieve its goals despite its desperate attempts,” he said.

Mousavi also highlighted the achievements of the Armed Forces during the war, saying their performance reaffirmed Iran’s defensive readiness and determination to respond to external threats.

Israel attacked Iran in an unprovoked act of aggression on June 13, assassinating military commanders and nuclear scientists in targeted strikes, and killing civilians in air raids on residential areas. On June 22, the United States also joined the war and bombed three Iranian nuclear sites. The war was halted on June 24 after the Tel Aviv regime requested a ceasefire following retaliatory missile strikes by Iran.

Accompanied by a group of top commanders, Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard launched the new radar site, dubbed Vahdat-e-Birak, in the city of Zahedan, the province’s capital.

He also unveiled the site’s homegrown radar as well as its dispensary and auditorium.

General Sabahifard further visited a number of other radar sites in the district of Zabol and evaluated their combat capabilities in the face of potential threats.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Brigadier General Alireza Sabahi Fard said the Air Defense “will not retreat from the revolution’s causes to the last drop of their blood,” Tasnim reported.

Sabahi Fard was appointed by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the new commander of Air Defense on May 29, replacing Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili.
