Ahvaz Proposes Joint Innovation and AI Center With Japan

TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking during the Japanese ambassador’s visit to Khuzestan and in a meeting with senior economic officials, Shahla Amouri said that a strategic cooperation roadmap has been prepared, based on five key areas exempt from sanctions due to their technical, educational, and infrastructural nature.

Amouri highlighted the long-standing commercial relations between Iran and Japan, built on “respect and mutual trust,” noting that this foundation provides strong support for expanding future cooperation.

The Ahvaz Chamber president stated that Khuzestan can utilize Japanese expertise to develop industrial waste management programs and water recycling projects, with Japanese specialists contributing to their technical implementation.

She added that establishing a joint innovation center at the Chamber’s headquarters—focused on artificial intelligence, digital trade, and industrial efficiency—would support skilled workforce development, facilitate technology transfer, and strengthen the competitive edge of Khuzestan’s export-oriented industries.

With a large fleet of Japanese-made machinery already in the province, Amouri said that localizing supply of original spare parts and specialized maintenance services could create a “low-risk market, sheltered from sanctions.”

She further noted that agriculture and food industries present key opportunities, adding that joint investment in greenhouse farming, water-efficient technologies, and low-consumption crop development could enhance product quality and reduce waste.

Regarding logistics, Amouri underlined the importance of using the Arvand Free Zone and Imam Khomeini Port to facilitate Japan’s regional transit operations—especially to maintain access to Gulf markets—calling it a “strategic step” in expanding bilateral ties.

The proposal also includes the creation of a trade intermediary company (SPV) in a third country, enabling barter trade between Khuzestan goods and Japanese equipment while reducing reliance on formal banking systems.

Amouri concluded that these five pillars define the current framework for economic collaboration between Khuzestan and Japan and can lay the foundation for sustainable, effective joint development.

General Soleimani funeral procession held in Ahvaz

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Massive funeral procession for the Iranian anti-terror commander, Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, was held by Iranians who have poured into the streets of Ahvaz.

The bodies of the martyred General Soleimani and his companions in a funeral procession have arrived in the southern Iranian city of Ahvaz, the main city in Iran’s eight-year battle against the forces of the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, which was the scene of braveries of General Soleimani and thousands of other Iranians.

From Ahvaz, the cortege will be heading to the holy city of Mashhad in Iran’s northeast later in the day and from there to Tehran on Monday and finally to his hometown Kerman in the southeast for burial on Tuesday.

The United States terrorist forces assassinated Lt. General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s pro-government Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) — better known as Hashd al-Sha’abi — in an airstrike at Baghdad’s international airport early on Friday.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said in a statement that a harsh vengeance “in due time and right place” awaits criminals behind Soleimani’s assassination.

General Soleimani, 62, was Tehran’s pre-eminent military commander and – as head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s overseas Quds Force – the architect of Iran’s anti-terror campaign and fight against American and Israeli hegemony in the Middle East.

Ahvaz equipped with smoke-free flare system by KOGPC

TEHRAN (Iran News) – In line with the plans end the gas flaring in the southern Iranian oilfields, a smoke-free flare system has been launched in Ahaz Operating Unit No. 2.

Gholamreza Mofidi, Managing Director of Karoon Oil and Gas Production Company, outlined features of the system, saying by launching the system, environmental pollutants in the vicinity of Ahvaz metropolitan area would be reduced and burning of 10 million cubic feet of gas per day would be prevented.

He said an investment of 15 billion rials ($357 million) was made for building the smoke-free flare system, adding that all the costs of the project would be returned in a matter of three months.

The official further added that the system domestically has been developed by domestic experts at the National Iranian South Oil Company, voicing the company’s readiness to carry out similar projects in other operational districts of the country.

Flaring is the burning of natural gas that cannot be processed or sold. The flaring of APG is an important safety measure at many oil and gas production sites, as it prevents industrial plant equipment from over-pressuring and exploding.

In March 2017, the Iranian Parliament signed into law a bill to curb the flaring of natural gas to 10% or lower by 2021.Oil- and gas-rich Iran has agreed to a global pact to move away from fossil fuels with the goal of limiting a rise in average global temperatures to well below 2 degrees Celsius.

Other domestic players in the oil and gas sector have also geared up to fulfill their role in this regard.

Gas Pipeline Blast Kills 5 in Southwest Iran

They said the gas pipeline along a highway linking the provincial capital of Ahvaz to the city of Mahshahr caught fire after the blast on Thursday morning, killing 5 people and injuring 6 others.

Governor of Ahvaz said the blast set ablaze a bus, a water tank truck, and two sedans, noting that the bus was fortunately not carrying any passengers.

Jamal Alami ruled out the possibility of a terrorist attack, saying the incident was caused by a gas leak.

He also noted that the fire has not caused any damage to nearby villages and farms.

Meanwhile, head of the fire department of Ahvaz said the death toll may rise given the magnitude of the fire.

Hatami: Terror act showed weakness of global arrogance

Hatami said the Islamic Republic will give a “tough” and “surprising” response to the architects of the heinous act that killed dozens of military staff and civilians, Mashregh reported.

He added the attack demonstrated that the government and noble nation of Iran should strengthen the spirit of defense and resistance more than ever due to the threats the country is facing.

Countries denounce terrorist attack in Ahvaz

A number of countries have denounced or offered condolences over a terrorist attack which on Saturday targeted military personnel and civilians in Ahvaz, southwest Iran.

“France deeply condemns Saturday terrorist attack in Ahvaz,” a statement released by the French Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

The statement also sympathized with victims of the attack, saying France is following up developments through its diplomatic mission in Tehran.

Afghanistan’s chief executive Abdullah Abdullah in a message on Saturday condemned the attack, tweeting “terrorist attack in Ahvaz which killed a number of innocent civilians, especially women and children, grieved us.”

With this crime, terrorist revealed their enmity with regional nations, he said. “I share the Iranian nation and government’s sorrow at this hard time.”

The Indonesian Foreign Ministry in a message issued offered condolences over the deadly attack in south western Iran. “Indonesia expresses its deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families.”

“Indonesia condemns the terror attack in Ahvaz that resulted in deaths and injuries including children… the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran continues to closely follow the development.”

The Palestine Islamic Jihad Movement, denounced the attack in a Saturday statement that turned the spotlight on Iran’s stance against Israel and domination policy of the U.S.

“Such measures against the country are the result of Iran’s solid stance against the Zionist regime and its confrontation with the U.S. regional dominance.”

“We strongly denounce the terrorist attack on Iran’s military parade and civilians which claimed lives and injuries,” it further said.

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in a message to his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani condemned the terrorist act and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

“Belarus is ready to stand by Iran to counter extremism and terrorism,” he said as he wished swift recovery for the injured and peace and calm for Iran.

Spokesman for the U.S. National Security Council, Garrett Marquis, also reacted to the incident not by condemning it, but by saying the Iranian government should focus on keeping Iranians “safe at home”.

Marquis tried to express empathy with the people of Iran. “The United States stands with the Iranian people,” he said in a telephone conversation with the World Views, the Washington Post’s foreign news blog.

In the same vein, the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, Heather Nauert, offered a too-late statement, claiming they stand with the Iranian people.

The government of Qatar in a Sunday statement slammed the terror plot, saying that it “condemns terrorism and extremism in any shape and for any reason.”

So far senior officials of Kuwait, Iraq, Armenia, Oman, the UK, Syria and Turkey have also issued condolences over the deadly attack which was carried out by a self-proclaimed Saudi-affiliated terrorist group called Al-Ahwaz.

Terrorist behind Ahvaz attack shall await a ‘shocking blow’

Terrorist who perpetrated the brutal terror attack in Ahvaz should await a ‘shocking blow’ since they know that capabilities of Iran’s military and security forces, said Iranian Parliament Speaker’s Special Aide.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in an IRIB’s TV program aired on Saturday night analyzing Ahvaz terror attack on military parade.

He went on to say that the triangle of Trump, Netanyahu and Mohammad Bin Salman has been established to undermine Iran’s security and stability.

Mossad, CIA, and Takfiri circuls are behind these terrorist attacks, he said, adding that this was a simple attack which targeted defenseless civilians, while if they wanted to do complicated operations, they should have designed it at other levels.

European countries’ delay and silence in condemning Ahvaz terror attack are disputable, Amir-Abdollahian added.

Rouhani vows retaliation for Ahvaz terror attack before departing for NY

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the Islamic Republic will not forgive the terrorist attack on a military parade in Ahvaz, which killed 25 people and injured dozens others.

The president made the remark at Mehrabad Airport before departing for New York to take part at the UN General Assembly meeting.

Talking about the Saturday’s terrorist attack in Ahvaz, President Rouhani said the Islamic Republic will give a crushing response to that heinous act within the legal framework and according to the country’s best interests.

He vowed that all that would be arrested in connection with the terrorist attackwould receive their due punishment.

“It is perfectly clear to us who were behind the attack and what their affiliation is,” Rouhani said. “Those who keep repeating their bogus stance on advocating human rights must be held accountable; all those small mercenary countries in the region which US backs and provokes.”

Rouhani then talked about his trip to New York, saying that taking part at the UN General Assembly meeting is an opportunity for any country to express its views on various regional and international issues.

He said he would talk in length about the current US administration’s attitude which is reared toward unilateralism combined with an extreme sense of nationalism.

Rouhani added that he would discuss the numerous instances of US’ violations of international law during his address to the UNGA’s session, interviews and bilateral meetings.

The topic of the Iran nuclear deal will also be brought up, Rouhani said, voicing hope that the country would be able to overcome the US unilateral and unlawful sanctions with the least amount of loss.

We will make the US regret its meddling in and aggression toward other countries, particularly Iran, Rouhani promised.

3 Ahvaz military parade terrorists killed, one in custody

Senior Spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces said all terrorists involved in the attack on a military parade in southwest city of Ahvaz have been either killed or arrested.

Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said the terrorist attack was carried out by four terrorists, adding that the bodies of three of them are currently in possession of security forces, and the fourth terrorist is in custody.

He said security forces engaged with the terrorists immediately after they opened fire at the parade, killing three and arresting the remaining other. He added that the terrorist in custody is being interrogated to reveal their affiliation and how they managed to enter the park located behind the stand at the parade perimeters.

He further elaborated that the terrorists began shooting from a long distance while inside the park, at the armed forces as well as civilians watching the parade.

He put the number of casualties at 10, which also includes ordinary onlookers and a journalist in addition to Armed Forces personnel.

According to deputy governor of Khuzestan, Ali Hossein Hosseinzadeh, over 30 people have been injured, including women and children.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a tweet that Iran holds regional terror sponsors and their US masters accountable for the attack. He also stressed that “Iran will respond swiftly and decisively in defense of Iranian lives.”
