High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy “Federica Mogherini has announced that the Europe’s package of proposals for preserving the nuclear deal will soon be delivered to the Iranian authorities.

The package is scheduled to be submitted to the diplomatic system and foreign policy apparatus of our country for less than 24 hours to be carefully analyzed. In this regard, there are some points that need to be taken into consideration:

1.The examination of the Europe’s package of proposals based on our “national interest” is the most important point that should be diligently considered at this critical period. Unfortunately, after the conclusion of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), European countries, especially the European troika, haven’t made a good record in maintaining the nuclear deal. The accompaniment of Angela Merkel, Theresa May and Emmanuel Macron with Trump’s illegitimate demands for “changing the JCPOA” won’t be easily forgotten!

Meanwhile, over the past 15 years, the European troika has had a rather bad record in fulfilling the statements of Saad Abad and Paris. Hence, we can’t be optimistic about the Europe’s package of proposals for Tehran. The truth is that a rigorous and exact review of this package will to a great extent guarantee Iran’s rights (based on the nuclear agreement).

2. At this critical period and in reviewing the European’s proposals, it is necessary for our country’s officials to make a strategic, rational and determined distinction between the two words of “commitment” and “guarantee”. Undoubtedly, the Islamic Republic of Iran is not calling for the “repeat of Europe’s commitments on the JCPOA” over the next months, but seeking a guarantee of objectivity in these commitments. It should not be forgotten that not only during Trump’s presidency, but also during Obama’s time, the European troika refused to take effective steps to prevent the ban on the European banks to have connections with Iran.

They did not even accuse the US Treasury of violating paragraphs 26-29 of the nuclear agreement, and chose to sacrifice their legal obligations for the political conciliation with the current and previous governments of the United States. Therefore, the European Union is facing a tough test, and if it fails to pass this test for any reasons, there would no longer be a nuclear deal to continue.

3. Over the recent weeks, signals have been sent from the White House to the European troika regarding the JCPOA. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that he will soon be discussing this issue with his European counterparts. No doubt, the more European troika is influenced by the United States in these talks, the farther it will be from reaching a reciprocal agreement with Iran. Last week, British Prime Minister Theresa May stated that Europe should enter into negotiations with the United States on the nuclear deal!

Undoubtedly, the British prime minister knows well that Trump isn’t going to change his negative attitude towards the JCPOA. Therefore, the British government is seeking to cooperate with the United States in opposition to Iran and the nuclear deal. This dangerous approach will result in the full annulment of the JCPOA, and the consequences will in no way be to the benefits of the EU member states.

4. Finally, it should be noted that coming up with new suggestions for preserving the JCPOA, is the last opportunity that the Iranian regime and nation have given the European authorities. Undoubtedly, negative records of the European troika won’t be ignored in this equation. But the opportunity is once again given to European officials to maintain the nuclear deal. If Europe loses this chance in compensating its mistakes, and consider the “JCPOA” as a political leverage to realize its transatlantic goals with the United States, then it would be a serious and strategic mistake. Therefore, dealing legally and rationally with the existing conditions is the main prerequisites for the maintenance of the JCPOA by the European Union.

TEHRAN – Bahram Ghasemi, the Spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned the interventionist approach of US senators in meddling in the internal affairs of Iran.

“The people of Iran are the best backers of security and progress of the country. The participation of the people in the elections to determine their fate, and the presence of all walks of the nation in supervising and criticizing executive bodies of the country guarantee the growth and development of the country and the Islamic Revolution,” said Bahram Ghasemi on Saturday.

The Iranian diplomat made the remarks after some US senators issued statements in reaction to popular protests against some credit institutes in major cities of Iran.

Mr. Ghasemi described the messages of US senators as “worthless, invalid, and cheap,” and added that “the Iranian nation gives no credit to the opportunistic remarks of American officials or Mr. Trump.”

“The great nation of Iran assuredly has witnessed and remembers how human rights have been violated in Bahrain, Yemen, and Palestine with active contribution of Mr. Trump who has set limitations on Iranians willing to enter US which has led to prisoning of migrants at US airports for baseless accusations,” asserted the spokesman of Iranian foreign ministry.

“These are the reasons why the opportunistic and deceptive support of some American officials for the recent-days’ strikes and convention in some cities of Iran are nothing more than deception and hypocrisy for Iranians,” noted Mr. Ghasemi.

He articulated that the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran has foreseen democratic procedures for legally channeling the civilian demands of the people, and the possibility of pursuing these demands within the framework of the law is fully feasible.

The foreign ministry spokesman brought to attention what he described as 70 years of interference by the various US governments in Iran’s internal affairs, referring to US role in conducting and controlling the 1953 coup d’état against the national and legitimate government in Iran, US relentless support for Pahlavi monarchy to suppress and intimidate Iran’s freedom-loving people, and the US full support for

Saddam Hussein’s criminal regime during the eight years of the imposed war.

“The US officials are not in a position to sympathize with the great and knowledgeable nation of Iran,” underlined the Iranian diplomat.

“It is not in interests of France and the French President Mr. Macron to interfere in issues of sensitivity to Iran, like missiles and strategic affairs of Iran,” said Iran’s Leader top Aide, Ali Akbar Velayati, on Friday warning the French head of state not to interfere in the state affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Such interferences have no effect other than tarnishing the reputation of French government in the eye of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” asserted the former foreign minister, who is now an advisor of Iranian Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, condemning and denouncing the recent anti-Iran remarks of French President Emmanuel Macron made in the tour of Persian Gulf states in last week.

“As an Iranian who is familiar with French issues and the foreign policies of this country I advise the French president to take the path of General de Gaulle the Former President of France in his foreign policy and act relatively independent,” Velayati advised Macron.

“We never ask for the permission of others in regards to our defensive issues or what range of kilometers should our missiles be for,” the official categorically rejected any chance for negotiating over Iran’s missile program.

“It’s Mr. Macron’s no business and he has no right to interfere in this issue,” underlined Mr. Velayati, “If he wants to have growing relations between Iran and France, he should abstain from meddling in these issues because it is against the interests of France.”

“It is obvious that our response to his request will be negative and why he raises such a request to get declined and later be criticized for defeat in foreign policy,” articulated the Iranian veteran diplomat who acted as foreign minister for 16 consecutive years.

“Mr. Macron! Take heed to my advice; there is not even a 1% chance to get us negotiate over our internal affairs,” he referred to Macron’s anti-Iran speech in Sweden.
