In July, Gholami stormed out of the training following a bust-up with teammate Mohammad Mousavi.

The two players were involved in a verbal conflict and Gholami immediately left the training.

Soon after, Iran volleyball coach Igor Kolakovic expelled Gholami from the national team since he violated the rules and left trainings without the permission.

On Saturday, the 32-year-old announced he is no longer a member of national team since he wants to focus on his family after retirement.

Gholami was a member of Iran national volleyball team in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
