Iran’s Interior Minister: Trump Unreliable , US Talks Impossible

According To Iran News, Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli dismissed the idea of negotiations with the US government, saying the world has realized that US President Donald Trump is untrustworthy.

In comments at a provincial meeting in the northern city of Sari, Rahmani Fazli said all countries in the world have come to the conclusion that the US president is untrustworthy, since his administration has reneged not only on the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, but also on other international treaties.

Iran is interacting with the world within the framework of international laws and mutual respect, he added, ruling out the possibility of talks with the US and its unreliable president.

“The US’ arrogant nature has been proven to the entire world,” the Iranian minister added.

He further stressed that Iran should boost its economic and military capabilities and attain deterrent power in order to increase the bargaining power in the international arena.

Iranian officials have repeatedly rejected the idea of direct negotiations with the US, stressing that Washington must first resume honoring its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and lift the sanctions on Tehran.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has ruled out the notion that ‘settlement of Iran’s problems hinges on rapprochement with the US.’

Negotiation with the US will by no means solve Iran’s woes as Washington’s main objective is to hinder Iran’s progress, American officials are liar and deceitful, and, moreover, the US itself is plagued with crises, Imam Khamenei said in 2016.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli says 731 banks and 70 gas stations were set ablaze or damaged during the recent unrest in the country.

“731 banks were torched with fire, among other damages of recent unrest,” Rahmani Fazli said on Tuesday evening on state TV.

“Also, 140 public places, 70 gas stations, and 9 religious centers and burned 307 automobiles and 1076 motorcycles are among damages of recent unrest,” he added.

The minister acknowledged that some questions have been raised following the gasoline price hike “which we should respond to.”

“All governments which are a manifestation of their people’s vote want well-being for the people, especially our country which is a democracy,” he remarked.

Protests erupted in Iran on November 15 after the government announced an increase in the price of gasoline, a subsidized commodity that is still cheaper in Iran than other countries in the world.

The proceeds from the price increase are paid in the form of cash subsidies to 60 million Iranians, who account for about 75 percent of the population.

The rationed gasoline, which is 60 liters per month, is priced 1500 tomans (35 cents) and any amount beyond that is 3000 tomans (70 cents).

The calculation is based on the official rate of 4200 tomans per dollar. However, the value of the dollar, due to the U.S. president’s strategy of “maximum pressure” against Iran, is almost 2.5 times higher in the free market.

He said the crisis only began after the foreign-based Persian media entered the stage and incited people by broadcasting footages of other protests to show that the country is in turmoil.

To control the situation, Iran blocked access to the internet for days.

The minister commented on the internet blackout, saying, “When the number of arsons and destructions increased, we were forced to shut down the internet temporarily.”

He also said the Iranian authorities are well aware of the damage caused by the internet blackout but had no other choice.

“Protest is different from riot and the Islamic Republic tolerates peaceful protests,” he said.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a statement on Friday blacklisting Iran’s ICT Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi for what it called his role in “widescale internet censorship.”

However, Iranian people’s access to the internet has been restored to a great extent.

He made the remarks on Friday in a meeting with Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan.

“Safeguarding the regional security should be done by regional states,” he said, highlighting that cooperation between countries can create sustainable peace and security.

“America is seeking to sow the seed of discord in the Muslim world,” Rahmani said, adding, “US and Israeli regime only consider their own benefits and do nothing positive for the region.”

“Extremism, terrorism, and violence in the region is supported by the US, the Zionist regime and few other countries. These states provided terrorist groups with money, weapons, and intelligence,” said the Iranian minister.

Pointing to bilateral relations between the two countries, he said that economic and cultural ties are of utmost importance which need to be expanded.

On behalf of First Vice President Es’hagh Jahangiri, Rahmani also invited the Kyrgyz prime minister to visit Iran.

For his part, Abylgaziev appreciated the invitation and hoped that he could make the visit in the near future.

The Kyrgyz minister called for expanding economic ties and establishing a direct flight route between the two countries.

He said that Kyrgyzstan is against anti-Iran sanctions because such measures create problems for all countries which have friendly relations with Tehran.

Heading a political delegation, the Iranian minister arrived in Bishkek on Thursday to discuss bilateral cooperation with Kyrgyz officials. The two sides have signed a security and disciplinary cooperation agreement.

He added, “World Refugee Day is a cultural and international credit that United Nations Assembly has named after to express sympathy, compassion and dignity of refugees in a resolution agreed by the majority of members of international community.”

On one hand, the World Refugee Day indicates numerous agony and pain of suffering people from civil war, regime change, destabilization of governments, foreign interventions, occupation, terrorism and natural disasters in some cases, he said, adding, “on the other hand, it is a field for verifying culture of altruism, philanthropy, sacrifice, compassion and human dignity as well as a rest for identifying the distinction between declarative and actionable policies of governments in the international arena.”

He pointed to the drastic measures conducted by the Islamic Republic of Iran since the victory of Islamic Revolution with regard to hosing refugees and added, “issuing ID cards for all refugees to a number of about one million refugees, organizing literacy courses for more than one million refugees, promoting literacy level of refugees, offering quality healthcare and medical services under the Health Reform Plan, etc. are of the salient achievements taken by Iranian government for refugees in the country.”

Iran’s interior minister said the administration is going to launch a grand scheme for development of the province of Sistan and Balouchestan, located in southeast of Iran.

In comments on Thursday, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said a delegation from his ministry came up with a detailed plan for development of Sistan and Balouchestan after a 6-day visit to different parts of the underprivileged province and prioritizing the needs.

He said the practical initiatives, coming into 486 categories, were submitted to President Hassan Rouhani, whose office is going to communicate the grand plan to 24 ministries and administrative organizations to carry out the practical measures in the province.

In December 2016, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei issued an order to withdraw a sum of $500 million from the National Development Fund of Iran for development projects in Sistan and Balouchestan.

Located in southeast of Iran, the large province borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, and has a long coastline by the Sea of Oman.

The desert province grapples with severe water shortage, particle pollution, underdeveloped infrastructure and transit of illicit drugs.

In February 2017, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force said the force has mobilized all available resources for development of Sistan and Balouchestan, pointing to projects on construction of free settlements for impoverished families, supplying water to outlying regions, and creation of jobs in various fields such as agriculture and road construction.

Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli highlighted the importance of the upcoming rallies marking the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, saying that massive presence of the people would thwart enemy conspiracies.

The enemies’ campaign against rallies marking the 1979 Islamic Revolution anniversary and their focus on “sinister goals such as the overthrow of the (Islamic) Establishment before the 40th anniversary of the revolution” double the importance of holding the ceremonies gloriously, Rahmani Fazli said in a speech on Monday night.

“It is because the presence of the people and their support for the country have always caused the despair and disappointment of the enemies and the hegemonic system,” he added.

The interior minister further hailed the people as “the strongest element against the enemy”, saying, “The glory of the people’s presence on the February 11 (rallies) will foil the enemy’s conspiracy.”

In a speech in December 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei dismissed comments by US officials that the Islamic Republic would not see its 40th anniversary, saying the Iranian nation will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Revolution this year more magnificently than before.

Pointing to the uncovered plots that Americans have hatched over the past two years to harm Iran, such as imposing sanctions and assisting Iran’s foes, the Leader also noted that the US objective was to create bipolarity and division in Iran through sanctions and anti-security measures.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime on February 11, 1979, ending the 2,500 years of monarchy in the country.

Every year Iranians mark the anniversary of their Islamic Revolution from February 1 to 11, known as the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies. On February 1, 1979, Imam Khomeini returned home from years of exile in Iraq, Turkey, and France.

Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli condemned the terrorist attack in the country’s southeastern port city of Chabahar as “a savage act” and said the US, Israel and some terrorist regimes in the region are behind the attack.

In a message released on Thursday night, Rahmani Fazli expressed deep sorrow over the terrorist attack in Chabahar, which killed two people and injured 42 others.

“This savage act demonstrated that the evil hegemonic system would spare no sedition and conspiracy against this honorable nation (Iran),” he stated.

“The shameful defeat of the US, the Zionist regime (Israel) and the terrorist governments in the region that support them, who feel angry over their inability to hit the Iranian nation’s independence and freedom through imposing cruel sanctions, has led to their moves to target our beloved compatriots with their deceived stooges…,” the message read.

Earlier in the day, a vehicle laden with explosives went off close to a police headquarters in Chabahar, situated in the southeastern province of Sistan-and-Balouchestan.

The terrorist behind the wheel was seeking to force his way into the police post, but failed to do so as local security forces quickly intervened.

Two police officers lost their lives and 42 other people sustained injuries in the explosion, which also killed the bomber.

The so-called Ansar al-Furqan terrorist group later claimed responsibility for the assault.
