Speaking to reporters after visiting the exhibition, Mr. Ghanem said that Iran’s achievements in petrochemical industry which have been on display in the exhibition show that sanctions against the country have been ineffective, adding that unlike expectations, sanctions have had positive results for Iran.

He went on to say that past sanctions have led to significant progress in Iran’s production and industries.
He also invited Iranian companies which are active in the upstream and downstream petrochemical industry to boost cooperation with Syria.
He reiterated that Syria is eager to cooperate with Iran in reconstruction era.
Meanwhile earlier yesterday, the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Behzad Mohammadi, during his visit to the exhibition stressed the necessity of supporting domestic manufacturers and producers.
The NPC CEO was accompanying the Syrian minister during his visit. Mr. Mohammadi also highlighted the need for supporting Iranian manufacturers and industrialists.
He also said that petchems industry in the country gets 32m tons of oil equal to 600,000 barrels of oil annually as feed for the industry.
He went on to say that by the third leap in industry in 2020, the amount of annual feeding for the petrochemical industry in the country will reach 1.7m barrels and it will be a genuine transition from crude oil sale.
Mohammadi also noted that every one ton of petrochemical product creates 1,000 jobs and currently the capacity of petrochemical production is around 66m tons and almost 108,000 people are involved in it.
He went on to say that statistics for occupation in the downstream of petrochemical industry is amazing, noting for production and delivery of every ton of petrochemical product to the downstream almost 170,000 people are involved.
During a visit to machine-makers’ hall at Iran Plast International Exhibition on Tuesday, Mohammadi met with the directors of the companies that are running stands in the 4-day showcase.
He also learned about their latest achievements in the plastics industry.
The 13th Iran Plast international exhibition began on Sunday, September 22 and wrapped up yesterday 25 at Tehran’s permanent fairgrounds.
The event was inaugurated on Sunday in the presence of Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh, CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Mr. Mohammadi and a number of senior energy and petrochemical officials.
Themed at “Global Businesses,” the fair was aimed at facilitating production and marketing processes in the plastic industry of the country and bolstering presence of Iranian brands on international markets.
570 domestic and 35 foreign exhibitors ran stand at the exhibit this year.
Moreover, 12 delegations from 10 countries visited the fair this year.
The delegations came from such countries as Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Vietnam, Armenia, Kenya, India, and Tunisia.
