Addressing a ceremony to mark the National Day of Defense Industry in Tehran on Thursday, Brigadier General Hatami highlighted the deterrent nature of the country’s missile power and said, “In accordance with the Islamic Republic of Iran’s strategic decision and based on the important and historical fatwas (religious orders) of Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei) in respect to missiles, we have not designed any missiles with unconventional warheads…”
“We are focusing on the effectiveness of the missiles in terms of their precision, increased maneuverability, and speed as well as their conventional explosive power to defeat enemy’s air defense systems, and thank God, very good advances have been made,” he noted.
“In air, sea, and land (operational) domains, as well as radars and drones, I proudly declare today that we have reached the cutting edge of science and technology in many areas under the conditions (created by) the imposed sanctions,” the top vernal went on to say.
During the ceremony, a state-of-the-art long-range air defense missile system dubbed “Bavar-373”, which has been completely designed and manufactured by military experts of the Islamic Republic, was unveiled.
Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.
Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.
Back in February 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for efforts to maintain and boost Iran’s defense capabilities, hitting back at the enemies for disputing the country’s missile program.
“Without a moment of hesitation, the country must move to acquire whatever is necessary for defense, even if the whole world is opposed to it,” Ayatollah Khamenei said at the time.
